The subjects of this study are three women in their 30s. They wear a 75A bra. It is conducted a sensory test and comparative bra analysis of two types of bras on the market. The data of the current study was statistically processed using SPSS The wearers evaluated the appearance of nine items, and the researched bra were rated higher than article A and B. In Q1, cup volume was adequate in the order of the researched bra with a score of 4.4, then bra B and bra A. This indicates that the researched bra was appropriate. In Q2, regarding the location of the nipple, the researched bra ranked first, bra B second, and bra A last. According to the wearers, when wearing bra A with small cups, the nipples were not in the proper location. Such results verify that the design of the Nowire bra is suitable for the market. Key Words : mold- brassiere, 75A bra, sensory test, comparative bra, researched bra. 1 INTRODUCTION An external silhouette varies according to the type of foundation garments a woman wears. These days, buyers tend to take health 1 725

2 and comfort into account, along with the external silhouette, when choosing underwear. To meet the needs of female undergarment buyers, underwear manufacturers have strived to develop products that suit different body types and body issues, and undergarments are now made in a variety of designs, colors, and functional materials. S., 2001), (Satsumoto Y. & Mochizuki M., 2006) Nowire products are setting the trend for the following reasons. Nowire products provide comfort around the breasts and hide the appearance of nipples, which consumers like. In addition, underwear companies can reduce costs if their bras do not include wires. However, Nowire products need to compensate for the lack of wires that push breasts upward. The purpose of this study is to suggest a bra design that uses molded bra cups without wires to push breasts upward and make them appear larger. The study also conducted a sensory test of the suggested design. 2 METHODS A. Subjects and Measurement Parts The subjects of this study are three women in their 30s. They wear a 75A bra. The 75A size means that the circumference of one s chest under the breasts is 75±2.5cm (72.5cm cm), the cup size will be 85±2.5cm (82.5cm -87.5cm). The subjects physical sizes and the mean and standard deviation of sizes in Korea are shown in Table

3 B. Design and Physical Characteristics of the Researched Bra a. Design The researched bra was registered under Korea Patent No (2013) (Jung, H. S., 2013) and Korea Patent No (2013) (Jung, H. S., 2013) by the researchers. It is shown in Fig.1. Bra cups were designed to enhance and shape women s breasts and to reduce pressure by applying a Nowire mold, as shown in Fig.2. 4 This power net fabric (PN4028) that is commonly used by Korean underwear manufacturers consists of nylon (70.6%) and polyurethane (29.4%). The physical properties of the researched bra fabric are shown in Table 2. C. Sensory Test The completed researched bra is fastened by three hook and eye closures in the center at the back of the garment. Two kinds of Nowire molded bras on the market were selected for comparison. The sensory test of the completed researched bra was conducted in three categories; observer (21 items), wearer (9 items), and silhouette with outerwear on (4 items). Each item in the survey asked respondents to rate stated attributes on a five-point scale from 5 = very good (very appropriate) to 1 = very bad (inappropriate). The items are shown in Table 3, and Table

Data Proceeding and Analysis The data of the current study were statistically processed using SPSS To verify the effect of wearing the bra, an F test and Duncan s multiple comparison method were used for the sensory test. 3 RESULTS AND DISCUSSION Table 5 shows the results of the sensory test by wearers, and in eight out of nine items, the values were significant. In Q1, cup volume was adequate in the order of the researched bra with a score of 4.4, then bra B and bra A. This indicates that the researched bra was appropriate. In Q2, regarding the location of the nipple, the 5 729

6 researched bra ranked first, bra B second, and bra A last. According to the wearers, when wearing bra A with small cups, the nipples were not in the proper location. In Q3, when the wearers were asked whether the bra cups covered the breasts properly, they responded that the researched bra covered the breasts extremely well, bra Bs coverage of the entire front breast was below average, and bra A with its small cups was inadequate. Regarding the bra cup, the researched bra received the highest score, bra B the second highest, and bra A had the lowest score, with scores of 4.8, 2.4, and 1.87, respectively. The results of the three items related to the breast indicate that, unlike existing molded bras, the researched molded bra maintains the shape of the breast and holds the breasts in the center of the chest because it is designed to hold a reasonable volume. Q4, Q5, and Q6 evaluated how the wearers felt about moving in the bra. Regarding the locations of the cups and the lower edge in Q4 and Q5, the researched bra was best compared to bra B and bra A. The reason why the wearers were highly satisfied with movement in the researched bra was that the shoulder straps of the researched bra are wider. Regarding pressure (tightness) in Q7, Q8, and Q9, the researched bra performed the best, followed by bra B and then bra A. The researched bra was appropriate in terms of pressure in all three questions

7 Table 6 displays the results of evaluations of the appearance of the wearers wearing clothes over the bras. Fig.3 shows what the bras look like with outerwear. In all the four items related to outerwear, the values between bras were significant. The research bra scored the highest, followed by bra A and then bra B. The research bra performed better at pulling the sides of the breasts together at the front than the two other bras. When wearing the researched bra, the bottom part of the breast looked natural from the side, and the back looked slimmer from the back, compared to the two other bras. According to Table 6, the research bra was very appropriate in all the four respects (breast shape, front silhouette, side silhouette, and back silhouette). These results indicate that the Nowire molded bra developed for this research was excellent in terms of the evaluation of its silhouette in the wearing tests. Therefore, this verifies that the bra made according to the bra pattern we developed places less pressure on the body when worn and it also pushes the breasts upward and outward

Silhouette with outerwear 4 CONCLUSION This study aimed to develop a bra design that creates volume without a wire; it achieves this by pushing fat around the breasts and armpits into the bra cups, and minimizes pressure around the breasts and shoulder straps. In the wearing tests of the researched bra (75A), observers and wearers performed sensory tests of the two bras on the market, and a silhouette with outerwear was compared and analyzed. The following results were obtained. In the sensory test by observers, the researched bra received excellent scores in six out of eight questions under all 16 items, except for Q7 and Q8. The researched bra was excellent in all the three questions regarding the armhole. Regarding Q12, relating to the back, the researched bra with less back exposure was liked the best, with the bra A and bra B liked less in that order. In scoring the overall factors, the researched bra received higher scores in all the three questions than the bras already on the market

9 In addition, the four questions in the silhouette tests evaluated the silhouettes of a tight outwear worn over each bra. In those questions, the researched bra was excellent.
