ENW 363 Introduction This week s ENW podcast is the first of 2019 and everyone at ENW hoped that you had a lovely winter holidays and enjoyable New Year. We kick off 2019, our 8 th year of the podcast, with a quirky news event from Munich in southern Germany. One rail commuter, who got fed up with her daily commute being delayed stumbled upon a novel idea a train delay scarf. Every time her train was late, she knitted a section. A news story from southern Germany has highlighted a unique protest by one daily commuter that shows her 4: at how often she was delayed by late trains. A journalist from Munich, Sara Weber tweeted that her mother had become so exasperated by her daily train being late, that to kill time she started to knit a scarf. Mrs Weber also came up with a brilliant idea to 5: how late her train was behind schedule by colour coding each different time delay. 3 Starting in January 2018, her mother knitted two lines a day every time she was delayed. The scarf s colour-code was simple; grey 6: meant that her delay was less than five minutes not too bad really. Pink bars represented delays of between five and thirty minutes, whilst red equalled a wait of 30 minutes or more. Ms. Weber tweeted that the Spring of 2018 was Ok mostly grey and pink bars.
