3 Faroe Gallery: Stamps Faroe Gallery Stamps Particularly attractive and scarce stamps that will make a wonderful addition to your collection. All are available for approval viewing. NH Mint Used Scott #2 Type I [20 øre overprint on 1 øre Numeral] NH VF horizontal 3-strip. Fresh and bright. Multiples of this issue are difficult to obtain Scott #2 Type I [20 øre overprint on 1 øre Numeral] NH VF horizontal pair. Fresh and bright Surcharge Type II [20 on 1 øre WWII Provisional Surcharge, Type II issued 28 May 1941] Mint F-VF example, extremely lightly hinged. In terms of relative rarity compared to the Type I surcharge of the same denomination, this is by far the scarcest of the three Type II surcharges. Very attractive and seldom offered Scott #3 [20 øre overprint on 5 øre Numeral] Used VF on large piece from cover, with attractive THORSHAVN 14 November 1942 cancellation Scott #3 [20 øre overprint on 5 øre Numeral] Used VF well-centered THORSHAVN 19 April 1941 cancellation [20 on 5 øre WWII Provisional Surcharge] Used VF on piece with THORSHAVN pictorial codfish cancellation (translates to Eat Faroese Codfish ). I last had a few examples of this error back in 2007 and all very quickly sold for $250 each. I now have only four more examples Olive COLOR ERROR [ oyru Rune Stone] Used VF single in Yellowish Olive Green instead of the normal Gray Green. The Faroe stamp has a couple shorter perforations. Single Used VF stamp normally $ Faroe #5 Type I and Denmark #230, 237 [Faroe 50 on 5 øre WWII Provisional Surcharge] Used VF on small 29 January 1941 piece (envelope, not parcel card) with Danish 10 øre violet Wavy-Line and 35 øre violet engraved Caravel. Nice higher-value franking. Very attractive. Priced the same as the plain used Faroe stamp! Varieties NH Used [ oyru Map] WHITENED PAPER variety. When compared under long-wave UV light, the paper of the variety is distinctly whiter. [This observation is only valid on stamps that have not been soaked.] Ink color is usually darker than the average 50 oyru. This variety seems to be quite scarce. It is not listed in any of the catalogs, however, it has been known for quite a while and was further reliably reported by Quarles, but he was never able to track down specific paper sourcing information that explained it.
