48 The Charlie s Lunch Story Sam and Janey Stewart s son Charlie was born with a serious heart defect. Charlie was one of the most spiritually alive kids you could ever meet, and he loved to shar On February 1, 1996, Charlie s heart just couldn t hold out any longer, and he went home to be with the Lord. The Stewarts were missionaries serving in Guatemala, and one day at lunchtime there was a knock at their door. When Janey opened the door, she found two little boys begging for food. Janey felt the Lord telling her to Give them Charlie s lunch. She did, and that act grew into the ministry named Charlie s Lunch, which today feeds thousands of hungry children all over the world.
