It was the insight of my husband, Brad, showing me that her creation should be the impetus for our collection.

Being raised in the jewelry business, art school, twenty plus years working in the store, life experience, and family gave me the push I needed to design our first collection of gold and diamond jewelry, but it was my daughter that inspired me. It was her hands that created a paper necklace of smiley faces for me to wear. It was the insight of my husband, Brad, showing me that her creation should be the impetus for our collection. So I ran with it. I knew the design needed to be simple and classic to mirror the simplicity of her joy. Wearing jewelry makes you happy. Their rise in the fine watch world has been meteoric. My initial interest had peaked because of technology.

These are features normally available only from the elite of the elite manufacturers and are unheard of in the Nomos price range.

24 If you know me at all, you know about my passion for watches. For the past four years I have been reading about (and unbeknownst to me at the time, vetting) the German watch line Nomos; a relatively new (1990) and small (around 300 employees) company. Their rise in the fine watch world has been meteoric. My initial interest had peaked because of technology. They make their own movements, manufacture their own hairsprings and developed their own Swing System escapement. These are features normally available only from the elite of the elite manufacturers and are unheard of in the Nomos price range. Review after review would tout their value position relative to price and technical achievement. In addition, they are great looking and beautifully designed. I kept waiting for the catch as they debuted new models and technical features year after year at Basel, the iconic international watch and jewelry show in Switzerland. There were new waterproof models (Ahoi), models designed for recent college graduates ( The Club Series) and several new caliber references. The respected independent reviews kept getting stronger and stronger as the brand was growing in stature in an industry quick to criticize. Technological innovation, wearability, and affordability have become the hallmarks of the brand. I reached out to Nomos in late May to talk about the possibility of representing the brand in our store. After years of reading articles and seeing pictures, I tried on my first Nomos watch, the multiple award winning Tangente model. I had found our watch! Hauser s is now proud to be one of a select few authorized Nomos US retailers. Road Trip to Little England Farm Just across the York River on a peninsula, stands a slice of heaven known as Little England Farm. Little England dates back to 1651.

Little England was used as a lookout for ships during the Battle of Yorktown, as a hospital during the War of 1812 and a garrison during the Civil War.

We imagined ourselves estate owners for a day as they generously allowed us full access to their home and farm for our 2017 holiday catalog photo shoot.

27 Road Trip to Little England Farm Just across the York River on a peninsula, stands a slice of heaven known as Little England Farm. Little England dates back to Captain John Perrin built the house in 1716 with plans drawn by Christopher Wren. Little England was used as a lookout for ships during the Battle of Yorktown, as a hospital during the War of 1812 and a garrison during the Civil War. Today the fifty-eight acres serves as a home and farm for the Barrs family. We imagined ourselves estate owners for a day as they generously allowed us full access to their home and farm for our 2017 holiday catalog photo shoot. The large restoration, along with Karen Barrs creative hand, provided inspiration for our shoot. The history of the property is what captured us, but we were most inspired by how that history is being transformed into a new venture. We are so grateful to the Barrs family for opening their doors and our minds to the possibilities that abound when you mix old with new. 29 JoJo The girl who knows exactly what you want The first time I met Joanne was in 1997 at the annual Hauser s holiday party in a local restaurant. She approached a table of men she didn t know, giving them reasons why they should come into Hauser s to buy something. She was captivating. If you know her, or if you have ever purchased anything from her, you know she can be very persuasive, but you also know that she has your best interest at heart. An interest that involves making dreams come true and special occasions more memorable. She shows people the importance of the unexpected gift or pillow present, as she refers to it. Sometimes, a present for no reason is the best present of all. But what brings her the greatest joy is connecting people with gifts that make them feel treasured. Everyone deserves that. Nothing haunts us like the things we didn t buy, so I buy everything I like. She has styled friends for events, shows and weddings. Now, she has focused her creativity on Denise, our model, for this photo shoot. We created a vision for the woman we wanted our catalog to portray; strong, confident, assured and not afraid to be herself.
