I took Principles of Fashion Styling 1 and loved it so naturally wanted to take 2 as well. I want to use this experience to practice as a fashion stylist. Tutor profile John William Styling and Creative Direction John began his career in fashion as a journalist. He has worked as a freelance stylist for the past 6 years and has contributed to an international roster of publications including Vice, i-d, Nylon, Paper and Bullett magazine. His work has exhibited globally including a 2011 show curated by photographer Rankin and a 2014 collaboration with the Museum of London. This allowed me to start networking and I still text and email some of the students on my course for advice for example on factories and suppliers. Student testimonial Sanjit Vallance Lingerie and Swimwear Design When I first came up with the idea of sleepwear with cup sizes I gave myself 3 months to do research. As I was looking around for short courses in Lingerie specifically I came across the Introduction to Lingerie & Swimwear Design with LCF and was drawn to the cost and Length of the course which fitted in with my time frame and budget. I really enjoyed meeting students from all over the world and about their backgrounds. This allowed me to start networking and I still text and email some of the students on my course for advice for example on factories and suppliers. I also enjoyed that the course did exactly what it said on the tin, it served me well and touched on different areas of Lingerie as well as the History of Lingerie and the technicality. Tutor profile Carlyn McGuire Fashion Design Carlyn McGuire s a graduate from Central Saint Martins and has been teaching fashion design development and fashion media, fashion textiles and print at foundation & degree level in colleges/university across London for over 10 years. Specialising in creative textiles, fabric print, 3D experimental design and fashion design development through design and media pathways. Carlyn also works as a freelance designer, working closely with emerging new talent, developing fabric prints and textiles for collections.

However, I didn t want to do a 1-2 year degree course, this 5 day course is so well packed and exactly what I was looking for with all the teaching I need. I have also managed to team up with another student from the course and we would like to have our own brand! It s exactly as I knew it would be, it is highly skilled and well organised. Linda is super nice and friendly also really open to any questions and teaches us in our own pace. Tutor profile Selina Cheong Bag making Selina Cheong has been working in the leather accessories industry for over 8 years. She graduated from Central St Martins in 2004. Her career began as a textile designer when she retrained in accessories at Cordwainers. She has worked freelance for a number of different designers and recently set up a partnership with another leathersmith making samples for catwalks, press pieces and pre production development, as well as small production runs. Selina s clients range from high end luxury to young start up designers. I m in Marketing, that s my full time job - a brand manager, this course was to get a hobby going. I feel often your work defines your life so I was looking for something to pursue as a new interest. I ve also done the Introduction to Fashion Design short course at London College of Fashion which I found very interesting. Why did you choose LCF? Because of your reputation and also because of how centrally located your campuses are. I just felt if I m going to learn something, then I wanted to learn from a good company. How are you finding the course, is it living up to your expectations? Yes! Its more challenging than I thought but I m learning from very good teachers and the equipment is of high quality so I feel really submersed into the experience. And do you have a favourite thing about the course? It s nice working in a group, we support each other and the pace is quick so you definitely don t feel bored and the hours just fly by. Do you have an end goal you hope to achieve? I would love to be able to do all my own alterations. I ve bought a machine for my home now too and the tutors encourage you to practice to help yourself learn more. Would you recommend the course? Yes I would recommend the course for people who really want to be good at sewing. And that s not all FAQs Residential: 14 16s Our residential courses for 14 16 year olds are designed to give students a unique insight into the world of fashion. The courses are held at Harrow School, London, where students will board with us for two weeks. Residentials will give you a taster of many different areas of the fashion industry and can help you decide which direction you wish to take your fashion career in. They are a fantastic opportunity to experiment with new techniques, build confidence, acquire new skills and meet like-minded people from around the world. Online Our online fashion short courses are delivered using a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) which includes user-friendly learning tools. These live short courses are delivered in an online classroom, where tutors deliver interactive lectures over video which you watch and participate in. You can interact with the tutors and other students by video, talking, messaging and sharing content. Your will be given assignments which are reviewed at the start of the next class. The additional learning resources include access to videos, research, industry case studies, etc. You can also access recorded sessions of each class via a PC, Mac or smartphone. Do you offer accommodation? You will be expected to arrange your own accommodation. Our halls of residence are available for short and long term stays throughout July and August, with Short Course students receiving a preferential rate. For tips, hints and discounts on accommodation in London, visit our website. What visa will I need? If you are travelling from outside the EEA (European Economic Area), then you will be required to show an appropriate visa in order to study. After booking your short course, a visa letter will be sent to you to accompany your visa application. Up to date information can be found on our website, alternatively you can speak directly. Will I receive a qualification? You will not receive a formal qualification. At the end of the course, you will receive a certificate of attendance (upon attending at least 80% of the course), which can be used as evidence of your continued professional development. When do I need to apply for a course? There are no deadlines for our courses, you can book them a few months in advance up to a day before the course starts. However, many of our courses fill up quickly so we suggest, once you have found the course for you, book your place to avoid being disappointed. If you will be applying for a visa before travelling, we recommend that you book your course at least eight weeks in advance.
