Volume 15 Issue 2 An Affiliate of the Society of Decorative Painters February 2018 Ladies of the Brush, What a nice class we had in January. Everyone s cardinals looked wonderful. Thank you Nancy for a great class! I apologize our equipment failure. The Elmo was mailed away for service. I hope to have it back soon. Also, thank you Nancy for revamping our Ways & Means program. I think we were all looking forward to checking out the secret gifts and hoping to win the gift card. Thank you ladies for bringing all of the good snacks. I was concerned that with 24 students, we would run out of food. No chance of that! I also want to thank everyone for helping to clean up after the class and put the tables away. It means so much when we all work together. I hope to see you at our February 3 rd class with Marjorie Harris Clark. No prep! What could be better? The Board decided to provide lunch for the Chapter at our February class. We will have chicken salad, croissants, chips, coffee, iced tea and Lee will make her (famous) New York style cheesecake for dessert. Please let me know if you would like to bring a salad. We will still need some snacks. Lana Raymond Breakfast Snacks For February 3rd meeting Ruth McDonald Lana Raymond 1

February 3, 2018 Girl with Seashell Acrylics Taught by Marjorie Harris Clark Total fees included to reserve place $35.00. Includes canvas prepped & paints. Check # $ Make Checks Payable to PCDP From the First Vice President We had a wonderful workshop last month taught by Nancy Walsh. She has more coming up later in the year and you do not want to miss them. We have our seminar with Marjorie Harris Clark on February 3rd. There is still time to register. Don t be frightened by this project. It is not difficult because Marjorie is such a wonderful instructor and you will enjoy taking a class with her. Step outside your comfort zone and try it. There is no prep and Marjorie supplies the canvas with background done and pattern applied. Just contact me if you are ready to try something new. March 3 rd we are doing the San Diego Duck. This is a color pencil project. It only takes 10 pencils so you are not making a major purchase to buy pencils. It also is a fun and easy project. If you have not tried color pencils now is your chance. I think you will find that you will like it. Let s show our support and make Palm Coast Decorative Painters a chapter that is growing. Mail to: 11 Edgar Lane Palm Coast, FL 32164 Tip of the Month Buy a box of alcohol prep pads and keep a few in your travel bag, a few in your desk...anywhere you paint! Use them to wipe up mistakes made with acrylic paint...or the edges of boards. Great for cleaning the paint out of mops and dry brushes when you want to continue using them during a painting session. Also, periodically to clean up brush handles and any other surface that has some paint lurking! Nancy 4

MEMBERSHIP: This year will become the year of growth for PCDP! In order to succeed, we need all members to make an effort to get newcomers to your neighborhood, and other organizations that you may belong to, interested in painting and joining us at one of our meetings/workshops or UFO Paint-Ins. So many people believe that they have to be an artist in order to paint like most of us. All we have to do is assure them that when we started painting, we didn t know anything about it either! I didn t know that you could trace a pattern and with the correct brush strokes/accents, you can turn out a project of pure enjoyment and beauty! Let s all make an effort for PCDP to succeed in this year s mission!!!!! Attached is the newest Membership list. This will be printed quarterly with new member information being forwarded to all via email. These updates will be provided in hard copy at the monthly general membership meetings. SPRING FLING FASHION SHOW: is hosting a fashion show at Chez Jacqueline on Tuesday, March 20 th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. We have five fabulous members who will model the clothes and jewelry and we will have plenty of time to peruse the wonderful decorative items she carries for the home. This is always a fun event with wine and appetizers served free. Cost is $20, all of which comes to the club s treasury. Gather your friends and come as a group for a ladies night out that will be a night to remember! Call Jane Van Buren, 446-0982, for more information.
