18 19 questions you might have concerning the shows and our tea. November PLEASE NOTE that our next membership meeting will be held on November 18 at 7pm, one week early due to Thanksgiving. Our guest speaker is Christopher Lowery from Waynesboro, PA. The Holidays are almost HERE! Hi everyone, I am hoping everyone is enjoying this beautiful fall weather, and taking advantage of all of everything it brings by painting some of what nature gives us. You will have opportunities to show off that work in several of our upcoming north gallery member shows. Those dates can be found in this newsletter. This past meeting was very well attended and the demo by Mikkey Tarantino was spectacular and warmly received by all of the members and guests. We have several upcoming and excitng events at the Mansion House for the enjoyment of our members and we invite all to attend. Please try to come out Friday night, December 4 and enjoy the annual Tree Lighting in the City Park. We also invite all of our members to attend our annual Christmas Tea that will be held Sunday, December 6 from 2-4pm. Information for these 2 events can be found in this current newsletter and please feel free to contact Janie Moltrup with any Chris was born and raised in the low country coastal region of South Carolina. He graduated from Flager College in St Augustine, FL with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. He is primarily a selftaught graphic illustrator that utilizes several software applications including: Bryce, Photoshop and Lightroom to accomplish his computer created designs. His range of subjects varies from "Interstellar Landscapes to human beings and mechanics. All of his creations are designed to fool the human eye into believing they are photographs. The exciting part of his work is that they are completely created by Chris through his creative methods utilizing common software. Chris plans to show us his work with a power point presentation on how he goes about creating his exciting work. He has shown his work in New York City and Seattle, Washington and currently is showing in Gallery 50 in Waynesboro, Pa. Please come and join us for what will be a very beautiful and interesting talk and demo. Respectfully submitted by Marjorie Tressler, President of the VAA.

Member News Sadly this year, two of our long standing members lost their husbands. June Savannah lost her husband September 12 this year and Tamara Hoffman's husband, Dow, passed away earlier this month. Our condolences go out to both of them and VAA has sent sympathy cards. New Members The VAA continues to have many new and very talented members join our ranks. We want to again feature those who would like to tell us a little bit about themselves for our monthly newsletter. Those who have joined recently, please contact our President, Marjorie Tressler at marjorietressler@comcast.net with a short paragraph about your interest in art. Annual 2016 Membership Dues of $25 are now due. Make checks payable to: Valley Art Association and mail to: Mansion House Gallery 501 Highland Way Hagerstown, MD 21740 Attention: Donna Smith, Treasurer North Gallery News During the months of November and December, members may, at no cost, and on a first come, first-served and space-available basis, as determined by the Gallery Director, place crafts for sale at the Mansion House. VAA members in good standing who wish to exhibit crafts do not need to be paid Gallery members, but do need the approval of the Gallery Director prior to placement of their work. Exhibiting members shall take responsibility for cataloging the items they place at the Mansion House, and shall maintain a list of their items at the desk in the place designated. Each shall also have a folder for receipts of any sales. During this period, Gallery sitters will handle sales of crafts just as they would for gallery members. Special considerations: Shrink-Wrapped Two Dimensional Artwork The conditions above for Christmas crafts apply to shrink-wrapped artwork with the following additional provisions. Each member will be limited to 5 shrink-wrapped items at a time (sold pieces may be replaced), and they will be placed in designated Valley Art shrink-wrap bins. Because of space limitations, individuals may not bring in their own bins unless asked by the Gallery Director to contribute one as one of the common, shared bins. Christmas Shop Janie Moltrup has invited people to bring items for the Christmas shop. Tree Lighting The Tree Lighting will be on December 4 at 6 pm. We will be needing volunteers from 5-8 pm that evening. Janie will contact the City about providing a Santa, and music. If they don t, we will provide recorded music. We will need cookies and punch for the visitors. Janie is asking for volunteers for music. Donna Bingaman is checking with The Barbara Ingram School for student musicians that might be available. Christmas Tea The tea will take place December 6 from 2 to 4pm. Members will be asked to contribute a dish for the Christmas Tea (heavy hors d oeuvres.) Sign-up sheets are available for cookies for the Tree Lighting and dishes for the Christmas Tea. (See Opening and Closing Dates under North Gallery Shows)
