Front Cover Artist Grand Prize Winner Melissa Gonzalez is a 6th grade student at Perth Amboy Catholic School, Perth Amboy, Middlesex County. She is a cheerful and creative girl who always strives to achieve excellence. Melissa strives to always learn something new that will help her succeed and grow academically. Melissa s goal has allowed her to achieve success in many different areas aside from academics, such as sports, arts, and school clubs. Besides dedication to academics, she is very involved in her school environment through participation in gym, art, and the Italian club. Melissa said, I am always eager to learn and discover new things. Her artwork and underage drinking prevention message were selected as the grand prize winning submission in the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey, New Jersey Office of the Attorney General and Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control s statewide Dangers of Underage Drinking Billboard/Calendar Competition. As a participant in the competition, Melissa was asked to work with her parents and other family members to answer the question How the Use of Alcohol Affects Middle School Students.
