Kids can share their holiday wish list with Santa and pose for a holiday photo between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Local choirs will provide festive music during your shopping experience. Donations from local businesses will be raffled every hour. A raffle ticket earns you a chance to win prizes such as two round trip tickets on AirTran Airways, local restaurant gift certificates, salon gift certificates, and more! Magnolia Market Days tickets are $5 for the weekend if purchased in advance and $5 per day at the door. Children 10 and under are admitted free. Page 2 WINTER WONDERLAND Sleigh bells ring, are you listening, In the lane, snow is glistening. Okay, you may not actually see glistening snow in the Junior League of DeKalb County s version of Winter Wonderland, but you will get a taste of the magic of the holiday season. Here s a sample of the activities awaiting you: Santa is planning to visit on Saturday, November 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, November 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pick up a memorable photo of Santa and your child for only $5 without the long lines at the mall. Local choirs will be performing and filling the gym with festive music. Face painting, and more! Reference: Lyrics of the famous Christmas song Winter Wonderland were first published in 1934. The composer was Felix Bernard (1897-1944) and the lyricist was Richard B. Smith (1901-1935). ALL OF YOUR HOLIDAY NEEDS IN ONE PLACE Magnolia Market Days certainly boasts over 25 unique vendors for fabulous gift shopping, but that s not all. Our shoppers can pick up one of two Junior League of DeKalb cookbooks and sweet treats homemade by our members. If you have holiday entertaining on the horizon, pick up a cake or plate of cookies and cross dessert off your to-do list. Or buy our already-wrapped baked goods as a gift for the person who has everything. With month after month of meetings catered by our own members, we can attest that you can t go wrong. Page 3 Cake Icing 2 cups flour 1 stick of butter 2 cups sugar 3 tbs cocoa 2 sticks of butter 6 tbs Coca-Cola 2 tbs cocoa 1 box confectioner s sugar 1 cup Coca-Cola 1 cup chopped pecans ½ cup buttermilk 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp vanilla 1 ½ cup miniature marshmallows 2 eggs, beaten Cake Blend flour and sugar in bowl. Combine butter, cocoa and Coca-Cola in pan and bring to boil. Pour into flour mixture and mix well. Combine buttermilk, baking soda, vanilla, marshmallows and eggs and add to above mixture. This will be a thin batter with marshmallows floating on top. Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13 inch pan. This must be baked in this pan, and not as a layer or loaf. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Icing Combine butter, cocoa and Coca-Cola in saucepan and bring to boil. Add confectioner s sugar and chopped pecans. Spread while cake is hot. And there s more! When you find that perfect gift, drop by our gift wrapping station and have it wrapped up, ready to go. (And if you happen to have leftover wrapping paper from last year that you do not want to use, we ll be glad to take it off your hands.) With our help, you ll leave the Decatur Recreation Center with several items crossed off your to -do list. And you ll help the children of DeKalb County in the process.

When JLD sought corporate sponsorship to make MMD bigger and better this year, Publix Supermarket Charities came through with our largest donation by far, which is just another reason why Publix is our favorite grocery store. Junior League of DeKalb County is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. Junior League of DeKalb County supports 19 foster homes and donates mini grants to schools. We raised $15,000 for schools in 2007! Our project, A Space of My Own provides children in the foster care system the opportunity to select their own bedding and accessories while in transitional homes.
