// /////////////////////////////////////// PRESS RELEASE // ARTFAIR booth E15 term: 2016.01.12 01.15 Venue: MARINA BAY SANDS Convention Centre 10 Bayfront Avenue, 018956, SINGAPORE ----- image left : When It Avoids Taking Sides 2016 Allan Balisi, Oil on canvas, 121.92 x 91.44 cm ----- CLEAR EDITION & GALLERY is proud to announce its participation and exhibition by two of the most prominent emerging artists currently based in Manila (PHI), Dina Gadia & Allan Balisi. Gadia and Balisi, with completely different out puts, however have similar approaches in terms of their approaches towards producing their art works. Balisi often seeks his images from old photographs, or a scene from a movie portrays a certain moment through his distinct color scheme similar to over exposed photographs. Thus taking away the original meaning of the scene, but also an attempt to giving it a new one. The anonymousness of the people in the scene are exaggerated and their actions taking place seem to dissolve into the pale over exposed coloring which Balisi is known for. Gadia also seeks for imagery from various sources ranging from comic strips to postcards, novels etc. On the search for recurring images from different sources and combining them to create a completely new kitsch meaning and perhaps giving it historical weight. Through the process of the art works made from various elements, unexpected distortions occur. Gadia s work is a manifest in the obtuse angles, in the overlap of what were once fine features of another tale. Blotch 2016, Dina Gadia / Acrylic, collage, and gouache on paper / 41.91 x 53.34 cm Aesthetic Demerit 2016, Dina Gadia / Acrylic, collage, and gouache on paper / 41.91 x 53.34 cm CLEAR EDITION & GALLERY //////////////////////////////////// // www.clearedition.jp contact@clearedition.jp
