Broadway Promenade Condominium Association, Inc. PLAY BILL VOLUME 8, Issue 4 April, 2016 MAIN EVENT LEGEND HAS IT (AND OTHER STORIES ABOUT FLORIDA S FOLKLORE) Have you ever wondered why Sarasota has such great weather? Well, legend has it that in 1540 Spanish explorer, Hernando de Soto s daughter Sara fell in love with the chief of the Mocoso Tribe. Hernando de Soto greatly opposed the relationship but recognized the Mocoso Tribe as a great ally and allowed the love between his daughter and the chief to blossom. Eventually, the chief wanted to marry Sara but Hernando de Soto refused! Sensing intense friction between the Spanish and native Floridian tribes, de Soto finally gave consent for his daughter to marry the chief. As a wedding gift to the Spanish explorer, the soldiers and the camp, the Mocoso Tribe placed a traditional Indian Blessing on the region: the area will now be known as Sara de Sota and forever be protected by harsh weather events, just like he will forever protect the love he has for his bride and her heritage. The bays to the north and south will serve as defenders and give sanctuary to all whom reside. Modern records show that Sarasota has had only one direct hit (October, 1944) from a hurricane since records began in 1871. Next month: The North Florida Okeefanokee Swamp Witches Happy Hour Friday, April 8th 5:00pm-7:00pm; Club Room B.Y.O.B. and a snack to share.

Italian Night In the Courtyard Thursday, April 14th 6:30 pm - B.Y.O.B. Meat and Vegetable Lasagnas Provided Bring a dish to Share 50/50 Split Club Drawing Employee Spotlight: Nathan Walsh Nathan is the Maintenance Supervisor for Broadway Promenade. He has been at Broadway 2 years. Nathan has an extensive background in property maintenance and has been working in and around Sarasota in this field for 13 Years. Here are 5 things to know about Nathan: 1. He is originally from Kansas City, Missouri. 2. Nate is married and has 2 daughters. 3. He loves everything about sport bike motorcycles & road racing. 4. He airbrush paints as a hobby. 5. And he genuinely enjoys working at the Broadway.

Nate s Helpful Hints: It is recomemended that all owners have an A/C Maintenance agreement with a local A/C company. This is important because your condensate lines will be kept clean preventing overflow and emergency shutoff. They will also keep your unit running efficiently extending its life. If you plan to be gone from your unit for an entire season or an extended period of time, it is recommended you enlist a condo watcher/home check person or company. This is someone you can call on when you are not here to take of any 'business' inside your condo. If leaving your car here while gone for the season or any extended period, please leave a car key in your unit. During off-season garage updates, we ask owners to move their cars. You will always be notified in advance. This would be an instance you could have your condo watcher move your vehicle. Lubrication: apply a silicone based lubricant to the rollers on your sliders and the guide rails of your windows once a year or before leaving for the season. This will protect them from the salt air and make everything move smoothly upon return. Message from Broadway Promenade Mail Lady, Lorraine: Hello Broadway Promenade Residents, If leaving for an extended vacation or for the season, please fill out either an authorization to Hold Mail form OR Official Mail Forwarding Change of Address Order form. Please mail or leave form(s) inside your mailbox.
