Nevada Watercolor Society Newsletter February 2019 February s Meeting Wednesday, February 13th 7:00 p.m. Program: Jesse Ferrell G.R.A.S.P. The Creative Connection Spanish Oaks Clubhouse 2201 Spanish Oaks Drive Las Vegas, NV 89102 Featured Artist for February Doni Murphy President s Message Kudos are extended to Judi Moreo for her excellent presentation at our January meeting, Turning Your Art into Cash. The presentation was chock full of great marketing ideas. I received so many comments after the meeting about how useful Judi s tips were that I ve invited her for a return engagement next year, with additional information. If you missed the meeting, you will have a second chance and won t want to miss it. Thanks are also extended to Tet Tran, new NVWS member, who has agreed to take over DVD rental duties from Ruth Fisher. And thank you, Ruth, for many years of service. DVD rental rates have been reduced to $3 per video, or 2 for $5, for a full month s rental. Be sure to check out the offerings; the full list of 197 art instruction videos can be found on our website on the About Us page. We had a great response to our call to artists for the 2019 Signature Show with 52 entries, all of which will be exhibited at the Historic Fifth Street School from March 7 through June 1. We hope to see you at the reception on Thursday, March 7, from 6:00 to 7:30PM. There are only a few days left to submit entries for the 2019 Spring Show with an entry deadline of February 4. Entries may be submitted by members and non-members alike (see the full prospectus on our website). Don t forget to establish a Gross Price (your top asking price) and a Net Price (the minimum acceptable price) for each entry. Except for sales made during the reception, the Metropolitan Gallery will handle all sales negotiations. Keep in mind when setting your prices that those negotiations will occur, and it is possible you may have to pay for shipping your artwork if a purchaser fails to do so. Also keep in mind that sales proceeds will be shared 80% to the artist/20% to the Gallery. Everyone who has artwork exhibited in the show will receive a one-year household membership to the Gallery (a $45 value) and a complimentary ICM hardcover book (an $85 value). The Gallery has recently agreed to increase the number of exhibited entries from the originally agreed to number of 75, so depending on the final number of entries received, it s possible we may be able to accept all entries received. Many thanks to Mark Rowland for this generous offer. And best of luck to everyone in vying for the honor of an award in our 50 th Anniversary show to be jurored by internationally renowned artist Alvaro Castagnet. Gail Montoure, President
