My Summer Holiday Writer_ Nahian Chowdhury I went to visit Rome with my family on my summer holidays. Rome is the capital city of Italy. We went to the Colosseum. We went inside the colosseum and I looked at the different view from the outside of the building with my family. I have taken photos of the colosseum with my camera and I had a really brilliant time at the building. The colosseum could seat 50,000 to 80,000 people. It was mostly used for gladiator fights. 2
Summer Holiday I visited Venice with my family. We went to the castle and we went to the museum. I went to the restaurant. We went to the boats and they were very busy. It was a warm and sunny day. Astrology - libra Libra dates are on September 23rd to October 22nd Libra traits are kind, gentle and lovers of beauty harmony and peace. They want to keep everyone happy, they find it hard to say no. 3
New Cafe Writer_ Luke Coombs Pathway 2 are running the new café on Tuesdays in G003. The café is called Phatjacks café. We went to Hitchin market to buy material. We made our own aprons and hats. We have been sewing our initials on our aprons. 4
Phatjacks Anne made new tablecloths. Our group made flapjacks and scones for the café. We made cheese scones and currant scones. We are open from 10.30 to 11.00 on Tuesdays in G001. Please come to our café for your break. 5
Events this month in history Writer_ Natasha Pleece On 23rd September, Steve Redgrave, an Olympic British rower, makes history at the Sydney games by winning a gold medal a fifth time in consecutive Olympic games. On 1st October, 1908, Henry Ford s Model T car went on sale and was the first car ever made. On 2nd October, 1968, a woman gave birth to 6 babies which is known as sextuplets, which was the first time 6 babies had been born at once in Britain. 6
Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway Writer_ Steven Pritchard The Romney Hythe and Dymchurch railway is a 15 inch narrow gauge steam railway in Kent that runs 13 and a half miles from New Romney to Hythe and Dungeness. There are 11 steam trains and 2 diesels. I went here around August and I would recommend it. You see 2 lighthouses at Dungeness. 7
EVENTS IN 2016 Writer_ Mark Lewis SEED GATHERING SEASON Seed Gathering Season is 29th September 23rd October. The Tree Council try to get children and families to gather fruit, nuts and seeds to plant trees for the future. WORLD SMILE DAY An artist called Harvey Ball who created the smiley face decided to create World Smile Day so that once a year we should all devote one day to smiles and kind acts throughout the world. EVENTS Writer_ Mark Lewis CHOCOLATE WEEK The UK s biggest Chocolate celebration runs Oct 10-16 2016, ending with The Chocolate Show, 14-16 Oct at Olympia National Hall, London. It is seven days of trying out the best chocolate in the UK! And the even more fantastic news is that it can actually be very good for you! Other than magnesium, chocolate contains iron, potassium and more great vitamins that keep us healthy and well. GLOBAL HANDWASHING DAY October 15 is Global Handwashing Day, a day to remind us all about the importance of handwashing with soap as a very good and cheap way to prevent diseases and save lives. We must remember to wash our hands at key times, such as after using the toilet, before contact with food or when sneezing. Make handwashing a habit! 9 SIMPLICITY 9 SIMPLICITY
RATED Film: Star Trek Beyond The main actors are Chris Pine who plays Captain Kirk, Simon Pegg plays Scotty and Zachary Quinto plays Spock. It is all about an adventure in international space. The film finds the crew trapped on an alien planet with the enterprise out of commission threatened by a mysterious foe who is plotting the demise of the federation. In the wake of a shocking act of terror from within their own organization, the crew of the Enterprise is called back home to Earth. In defiance of regulations and with a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads his crew on a manhunt to capture an unstoppable force of destruction and bring those responsible to justice. VERDICT: It is exciting and has a good story. It is awesome and I recommend it. Writer_ Emily Uwins Book: The James Bond Girls 10 This book is all about all James Bond Girls in all films including the new Bond girl in Spectre. It has new Bond girl and old Bond girl information, for example, Halle Berry and Eva Green and Rosamunde Pike. It also has lots of pictures of Bond girls from the books and the films. Some photos are black and white and some are colour. VERDICT: This book is fun and is interesting for all those that like James bond movies I would recommend this book. Writer_ Chloe Davies
