Since 1992, Marketplace has attracted more than 50,000 admissions and raised more than $1 million to benefit a varietyof services within Northeast Georgia Health System. 2011 Marketplace Tri-Chairs: Lee Anne Coyle, Beverly Filson, Meg Nivens Marketplace, a festive holiday shopping event that the Gainesville community has generously supported since 1992, has become a tradition which people of all ages look forward to each November. The Medical Center Auxiliary is proud to be celebrating 20 years of Marketplace and is especially grateful to be joined for the third consecutive year by premier sponsor, Willis Investment Counsel. Marketplace has been led through the years by an exceptional group of volunteer chairs who have contributed significantly to the continued success of the friend and fund raiser. Dances With Bees in Norcross, Ga., is a small chemical-free beekeeping operation owned by Patti Parsons and Jay Parsons, a certified Master Beekeeper with apiaries in Gwinnett and Habersham counties. More HIGHLIGHTS 100% ofproceeds BenefitRadiation Oncologywithin The CancerCenteratNortheastGeorgia Medical Center The Cancer Center at Northeast Georgia Medical Center is the largest provider of cancer care in northeast Georgia and has been ranked in the top six percent of cancer centers in the nation by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. For more than 30 years, the physician specialists and highly-trained staff of the Radiation Oncology department at The Cancer Center at NGMC have provided compassionate, experienced care for thousands of patients. In the last decade, radiation therapy patient volumes have increased from 20 to 30 per day to 80 to 90 per day. Healthy Journey will fund the renovation and expansion of NGMC s Radiation Oncology department to help accommodate this immense growth, providing a warm and comfortable environment. Susan Snaps Benefits CancerResearch Marketplace volunteers will be selling Susan Snaps at Marketplace 2011 to benefit Radiation Oncology within The Cancer Center. Susan Snaps are made in Sandy Springs in Atlanta. The original gingersnaps have been featured on the Rachel Ray television show as snack of the day! The owners developed Susan Snaps after watching family members undergo chemo treatments for cancer. Ginger is a natural stomach soother! A portion of the proceeds on all their sales goes to the owner s foundation, The Susan Carver Foundation for Cancer Research. Angel Topiaries Purchase a beautiful angel topiary from St. Simons Island during Marketplace. The topiaries are approximately 24 inches tall and will be dressed for the holidays with a bow at the neck and an attractive pot cover. The Gainesville Ballet Cast of The Nutcracker will visit Marketplace 2011 on Friday, November 4, 2-4 p.m. in full dress. Sherry served on the first Marketplace Committee in 1992. Sherry is recognized for her detailed and vibrant still life and vivid landscape scenes. She has studied with prominent artists including Roseta Santiago, Gregg Kreutz, Bill Davidson, Pris Buttler, and Ann Goble. She works in oils, combining realism with a touch of impressionism. Bold brush strokes, luminous colors, fluid lines, and soft edges define Sherry s trademark style. To create a work of art is to create joy. Sherry is a member of the Quinlan Visual Arts Center and The Georgia Art League. She currently exhibits her works at Gallerie 110 in Gainesville, Georgia.
