FashionTech Challenge! For 2018, we continue the emphasis on combining fashion and technology, incorporating a favorite parameter from previous years: the Pantone Color of the Year! Counterclockwise from top: finalists from previous years 2015, 2016, 2017. 4
Overview Look to the future! Find your inspiration in utilizing technology to bring your design to life. Harness the power of Gerber Technology products to develop patterns, create tech packs, and visualize your goals. For ideation 2018, students pursuing a degree in Fashion are called upon to incorporate technology as the main focus of the design and development process. This can encompass a wide array of ideas and processes: tailor a suit using Kevlar, convert the human heartbeat into wearable data, transform architecture into artwear, use virtual reality design techniques to visualize concepts in 3D. Technology must be incorporated as a major component of the design/development process. Additionally, the design will incorporate the Pantone Color of the Year 2018 as part of its color scheme. Students must be currently enrolled part- or full- time in a fashion design program at an institution of higher learning and be prepared to provide official documents such as a passport or state issued ID for travel. 5
