The retailer is using text message marketing this week, which was used during this week last year. Similar Number of Promotions Compared with Last Year JCPenney is promoting slightly more sales this week than it did during the same week last year. The retailer offered up to two online or instore exclusive promotions, which have not been promoted this week. Instead, JCPenney had a one-day deals promotion, including 70% off select jewelry. This week, the retailer is starting its Black Friday promotions, while it did not last year. More Promotions than Last Year Kohl s is running fewer sales this year than it did during the same week last year. The company is offering shoppers the friends and family promotion, as it did last year. Kohl s is beginning its Black Friday promotions this week by emphasizing its once-a-year Kohl s Cash of $15 for every $50 spent. During the same week last year, the company had its first-ever jewelry event that offered an extra 25% off jewelry and watches that were already 25% 60% off. The retailer is also offering a $10 off coupon for curbside pickup orders of $20 or more. CVS also promoted soft drinks, vitamins, detergent and bath tissue, A year ago, CVS promoted beauty items from CoverGirl, Revlon and Maybelline. The retailer offered $5 ExtraBucks Rewards with a $15 or more purchase of select Tide products and Gain filings. Similar products including soft drinks, vitamins and bath tissue were promoted again. This week, Kmart is offering a 4-day seasonal promotion, including 40% off sleepwear for the family and all greenery. The retailer promoted that members get $10 in points when $20 or more is spent on activewear and fleece for the family. For one day, Kmart is giving away free elf hats to kids 12 and under. Last year during this week, Kmart promoted 50% off all Jaclyn Smith cashmere trees and GE light sets. The retailer also promoted soft drinks, candy and mega block preschool building buckets. For one day, Kmart gave away free fun-sized candy bars to kids 12 and under. This week, Target is promoting 10 days of deals by featuring 10% off electronics and entertainment for one day and a free $50 Target gift card when a Samsung Smart TV is purchased. Blu-ray movies as shown on the ad are also on sale for $10. Last year during this week, Target had a Thanksgiving promotion featuring deals on frozen turkey, sparkling juice and chicken broth. A $10 Target gift card was also promoted for any $50 food and/or beverage purchase.
