WEEK OF NOVEMBER 27, 2016 WHAT S INSIDE Bloomingdale s is offering a similar number of promotions and sales this week as it did during the same week last year. In both years, the retailer promoted Cyber Sunday and Monday sales by offering a 25% discount on a large selection of regular- and sale-priced items. Last year, Bloomingdale s offered a bmoney promotion during this week that it is not offering this year. The retailer is using text message marketing this week, which it also used during this week last year. JCPenney is promoting slightly fewer sales this week than it did during the same week last year. The retailer is focusing on its Cyber Monday sales this week, while it featured multiple different promotions this week last year, including a Friends and Family Sale and a Red Zone Clearance promotion. In both years, JCPenney offered 25% off Nike apparel and shoes and 33% off purchases over $100 on Cyber Monday. Fewer Promotions than Last Year Kohl s is running a similar number of sales this year as it did during the same week last year. Similar to JCPenney, the company is focusing on Cyber Monday/Week sales the entire week this year. In its Cyber Week sales in both years, Kohl s offered one-day, online-exclusive, $10-off promotions for different categories of products, including $10 off home purchases over $50. The retailer also promoted Fitbit devices in both years. Macy s is also offering a similar number of promotions this week as it did last year during the same week. In both years, the company ran a Cyber Monday sale. The retailer featured a 25% off Nike promotion during Cyber Monday this week, while it offered the same promotion as part of its Friends and Family Sale last year during the same week. 1

US PROMO YOY HIGHLIGHTS RETAILER 2016 2015 This week, CVS is celebrating seasonal savings on décor and chocolates and offering a $10 coupon for curbside pickup of orders of $20 or more. CVS is also promoting soft drinks, detergent, vitamins and bath tissue. The retailer is offering $5 in ExtraBucks Rewards to customers who spend $20 on specific products. A year ago, CVS promoted similar holiday items, including décor and chocolates. The retailer also promoted many of the same products it is promoting this week, including soft drinks, detergent, vitamins and bath tissue. Beauty items, including Revlon and Sally Hansen, were on sale. This week, Kmart is promoting gifts under $20, $9 Joe Boxer women s and Northwest Territory men s flannel pants, and $9.99 fashion boots. Tree decorations and toys are on sale as well. For one day, Kmart is giving away a free jumbo Christmas coloring book and 4-pack of crayons to kids 12 and under. Last year during this week, Kmart offered 50% off Berkshire Christmas trees. The retailer also promoted light sets, candy boxes, popcorn tins, women s boots, bath towels and costume jewelry For one day, Kmart gave away free reindeer antlers to kids 12 and under. This week, Target is offering 15% off purchases made in-store and online on Sunday and Monday. Last year during this week, Target ran the same 15% off promotion, but only on Monday. The retailer s Cyber Week Sale featured 30% off specialty and plush toys, and apparel, shoes and accessories for women, men and kids. 4
