The Asia Brand Ceremony was organized by Asia Brand Association. President, Indian Industries Association Shri Jugal Kishore was the Chairman of the Organising Committee of this Asia Brand Ceremony. This was only due to the efforts of Shri Jugal Kishore that for the first time Indian SMEs got awarded in this prestigious event. The event was inaugurated jointly by President Indian Industries Association at Hotel Disneyland, Hong Kong on 9 th September 2012 at 10.30 AM. In the inaugural speech President IIA Mr Jugal Kishore addressed the representative from all the Asian Countries including China, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia Taiwan and Hong Kong etc. In this speech he said that India was a leading manufacturing country in the world in the early 18 th century and it had 22.6 percent share of the world s GDP at that time. India produced the world s best cotton yarn and textiles which were exchanged with gold and silver with European merchants. All Indian products at that time were made by hand by the highly skilled artisans. Soon an industrial revolution took place in Europe and India could not cope up with the industrial revolution in western world in terms of technology, institutions and event ideas. The demand for handmade products produced by skilled India Artisans in the world Markel also reduced hence a process of de-industrialization of traditional Indian Industries was set in. Mr Jugal Kishore added that, after 1850, Indian entrepreneurs began to set up their own modern textile mills and by the time India got Independence in 1947, we had Jamshed Ji Tata and G.D. Birla who were using modern technology in their business operations. TATA and BIRLA become well known brands not only in India but all over the world. Private entrepreneurship flourished in India rapidly only after 1980 when the process of liberalization of the economy was started. Since then, Indian entrepreneurs have never looked back and thousands of Indian Brands are now established in the international markets. Interestingly, Indian SMEs whom IIA represents also have established their own brands in large numbers in international arena. He said that, five Indian Awards Winners who have accompanied him in this Asia award Ceremony, all belong to SME sector.

India have already established a leading role in Information Technology Industry, it has huge domestic market, Industrial Infrastructure is growing at a fast pace, we have huge manpower resource and above all Indian Entrepreneurs are traditionally very innovative. He concluded his address with the hope that India will soon acquire its lost glory and you will find more Indian Brands in the world market. Representatives from other Asian Countries present in the Ceremony were highly impressed with the address of the President IIA and expressed their willingness to strengthen the business ties with Indian Entrepreneurs.
