4 tampoprint tampon printing inks Tampon printing inks in genera In tampon printing, both process screen printing inks (CMYK) and covering tampon printing inks in many different ink shades are used. The extensive range of tampon printing inks now enabes customers to seect a tampon printing ink type taiored precisey to their needs. In addition, we aways ensure that a the statutory standards and requirements of our customers correspond to the owest possibe burden on heath. Depending on the materia to be printed and the resistance requirements of the tampon printing inks, 1- or 2-component inks are used. UV tampon printing inks For specia requirements, we offer a UV tampon printing ink (1-component). Preferentiay used if high quaity is demanded for rapidrunning tampon printing systems. Low sovent concentration corresponds with the increased environmenta consciousness and ensures at the same time a reiabe production fow with a high-quaity printing resut. The immediate further processing due to short drying times is a cear investment for the future. Our service More and more importance is being paced upon the provision of rapid service in the standard and specia ink types area and the abiity to deiver basic ink types in standard and specia ink shades. Processing of other media in tampon printing In addition to tampon printing inks, other media such as primers, adhesives and ubricants, siicone or sodering pastes, precious metas, eectricay conductive pastes or thermay conductive pastes can aso be transferred to your product in the tampon printing process. 5 Three categories tampon printing inks Basic inks Using 12 basic ink shades, we offer our customer the option of mixing their own specia ink shades. We wi be happy to advise you or provide you with a wide range of recipes. Ink types: HS, N, O, Q, R, B and P on request. Our ink mixing system according to RAL and Pantone can be obtained as an Acrobat PDF fie on request. HKS ink mixing system on request. See ink shade card on page 7. Standard ink shades The 23 standard ink shades (of standard and specia inks) avaiabe from the TAMPOPRINT AG warehouse in Germany are premixed ink shades which aready cover a number of appications. This area aso incudes European ink shades for screened 4-coour printing (CMYK) (exception: ink types C and E) as we as god and siver. The coverage of the ink types and shades aso depends on the materia to be printed and the engraving depth, ciché screening and the number of prints (individua or doube print/muticoour print). Specia ink shades from our ink aboratory Specia inks service: The desired ink shade is manufactured in our ink aboratory according to your ink sampes or specifications. According to the ink shade systems: RAL, PMS, NCS, HKS K (goss), HKS (N) (matt) A ink types of our pad printing inks product range. A TAMPOPRINT sovent-based inks are avaiabe in 1- containers. Depending on the specific weight differences of the respective ink types, a 1- container may weigh between kg! Ceusose acetate, thermosetting pastics, meta, Nory, powder-coated and acquered surfaces, poyamide, poyacetate aftertreated with heat, pretreated poyethyene and poypropyene, SAN. Good coverage, suitabe for food wrappings (exterior), air drying, oven drying, suitabe for screen printing, sow drying, good fow, exceent mechanica resistance. Chemicas (imited), hand perspiration, organic sovents, ois and fats, diuted akais, diuted acids (imited), water. The mechanica and chemica resistance is ony achieved after the ink has fuy hardened. Materias to be printed: Thermosetting pastics, gass, meta, acquered surfaces, poyester. Characteristics: C ink must be oven dried. Suitabe for food wrappings (exterior), very high mechanica resistance. Resistance: Against: Acoho, ceaning agents containing acoho, chemicas, hand perspiration, organic sovents, ois and fats, diuted akais, water. This process can be supported with hot air. Print additives Additives are added to UV tampon printing inks in sma quantities to achieve or improve certain characteristics. In other words, additives shoud have a positive infuence on the manufacturing process storage processing optica characteristic Thinner (sovent) The addition of a "thinner" does not just infuence the viscosity, fow capacity and ink dispensing behaviour of the tampon printing ink from the tampon to the workpiece, but it aso has a very particuar infuence on the drying speed. In addition to universa thinners, "quick" and "sow" thinners are aso avaiabe. Retarder (sovent) is a very sow thinner used to sow down the drying time without having a negative effect on the ink viscosity. It may aso be necessary to add retarder when printing arge print images or when using sow tampon printing machines. 2-Component ink After the ink has been transferred and the physica drying has taken pace, a chemica cross inking reaction takes pace between the binder and hardener. The maximum processing time (pot ife) is imited by the addition of hardener (the pot ife varies depending on the ink type and hardener). After this you may have to dea with reduced adhesion and resistance even if the ink sti appears fuid and ready for use. Couping agent (primer) In order to achieve ink adhesion on poyoefines such as PE (poyethyene) and PP (poypropyene), the workpiece surface must be pretreated prior to printing commencing. This can be carried out with corona, gas or pasma pretreatment stations on your tampon printing machine. "PP" or "PPO" couping agent can be used for PP (poypropyene) instead of one of the above processes. Consistency The TAMPOPRINT ink types are not ready for printing but must be mixed to the correct consistency, depending on the print image, using the thinners (sovent) indicated on the reevant data sheets for the individua ink types. 66 Tampon printing inks product range - Technica terms

The additiona anti-foaming effect aows arge singe coour print (images) in particuar to appear homogeneous (e.g. with orange-pee skin effects). In order to avoid adhesion probems when printing "ink on ink", no more than 1% eveing agent shoud be added. Hardener Hardener is added to achieve a better consistency of 2-component inks. This means, the hardener wi react with the remaining resin bonding agent of the printing ink and wi create a cross inking of the printing ink or the ink fim on the workpiece. Waste disposa Ink residues must be disposed of in hazardous waste. Ceaning The cichés and toos can be ceaned of a ink types using our "RM ceaning agent" or our ciché spray.
