Although the spectacle market is brimming with a huge array of different shapes, countless colours and materials - there is very little evidence of a critical and indepth artistic approach to today s technologies and opportunities. Berlin-based spectacle brand ic! berlin is well-known for its novel and progressive approach with added emphasis on innovative manufacturing and construction. Together with Luisa Hecking the brand now breaks the mould and explores new directions to prove its passion and courage to be different. Hecking is a designer, artist and business woman in one. Her work tends to be suffused with irony and a desire to take a peek behind the facade. Here, nothing is like it seems and only a second glance will reveal the actual, insidiously intriguing idea. Is fetish objectionable? Perhaps. Can you judge or even condemn a person for their fetish? Never. The unisex collection devised by this marriage of artist and label comprises three spectacle models (each comes in two colours) and gives our new approach to the fetish and bondage aesthetic pride of place on your face. All three models boast a laser engraving of a Luisa Hecking illustration depicting a scene full of dominance as well as lightheartedness. Who dominates and who submits? While the question might seem obvious at first glance, the answer only needs to make sense for the one who wears the specs. All three models will be released in the two colours matt gold/gold and chrome/silver mirrored at Milan s Mido trade fair in March 2013.
