3 INTRODUCTION A high perfumery rooted in the rich history of magic and alchemy speaks that language one that is luxuriously mysterious, powerfully rendered and recalling the craft of the apothecary. Our language speaks to the past but carries our community into the future, to the pinnacle of the highest art of perfume-making. It hearkens back to the mysteries of thousands of years of science, discovery and artful application, and gathering that legacy to a renewed modernist appraisal of the futurist art of high perfumery. Matriarch is as richly layered as our expression in the magical alchemy of the marvelously detailed fragrances that we create. 3

4 WHO WE ARE Our Perfumer, Christi Meshell, is the Nose behind some of the most compelling fragrances now enlivening the niche fragrance scene. Her visionary versatility, as both Creative Director and Fragrance Composer, allows her to single-handedly develop a concept from initial inspiration through final display. A mystical heritage since her childhood has evoked Christi s lifelong study of natural correspondences, sacred cosmology and plant medicine, a knowledge which finds practical application in the Matriarch fragrance creation and the storytelling of their innovative journey. RECOGNITION In August, 2013 Christi received TOP ARTISAN PERFUMER at the International Fragrance Awards and was also named the TOP INDIE FRAGRANCE HOUSE of 2013 by Cafleurebon. Her work has been praised in Men s Journal, Hint, Sunset and Seattle Magazine. Fragrance experts say that from each generation there emerges a Master Perfumer whose purpose is to revolutionize the craft as they translate the collective emotions, desires and dramas of their era into wearable art. Christi Meshell is that Perfumer. Marrying music and fragrance, Christi has translated numerous songs into scent, creating concepts such as the Experience Perfume Project, Scent Sessions: Music & Fragrance and the Peace, Love & Perfume Project. Visual arts projects have featured collage, sacred geometry and their translation into fragrance. 15 MICHAEL EDWARDS A VISIT FROM A FRIEND Legendary Perfume marketer and global fragrance researcher, taxonomist and esteemed author, Michael Edwards ( paid a visit to Christi in April to begin the process of cataloging her perfumes for his epic fragrance catalog Fragrances of the World. His visit and interview was a great recognition and honor for Christi. Prior to this engagement, only perfumes with global scale distribution were included in his guide. While they were getting acquainted, Michael realized that Christi had gathered some obscure fragrance knowledge he had been searching for: alignment lists and tables of the ancient mystical correspondences of natural fragrances. These rare insights represented inquiries and information that Michael had spent decades asking of perfumers all around the world. After an exploration on the finer points of the perfume ingredient opoponax, Michael returned to Paris. With this encounter, Christi is excited to be collaborating with him, adding that ancient data which relates specific scents to archetypal human characteristics for his cache of fragrance information. Publishing this esoteric information within the context of Michael s guide will give perfume professionals new insights about how to create fragrances offering customers new ways to find what they are seeking in personally aligned and customized perfumes imbued with specially resonant energetic qualities. 15

17 RED CARPET MATRIARCH PERFUMES ADORED AT TAG S EMMY CELEBRITY GIFT LOUNGE House of Matriarch perfume were featured at GBK s pre-primetime Emmys Celebrity Gift Lounge, an invitation-only luxury celebrity gift lounge hosted by The Artisan Group on August 23-24, 2014 in Beverly Hills, California, in honor of the 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards nominees and presenters. Matriarch was honored to be the only fragrance brand in recent years invited to participate in this elite event. Luxury fragrances Blackbird & Coco Blanc were prominently displayed, and all 100+ attending celebrities were gifted with minis of both perfumes in their VIP gift bags. Motion picture Matriarch Angela Bassett (an enthusiastic advocate of the arts and artisan-crafted products) sported both fragrances at the event: one on each arm! As a scotch connoisseur, Jamie Gray Hyder, co-star of Graceland has a discerning olfactory palate. Here she enjoys the gourmand notes of Matriarch s Coco Blanc. 18 RED CARPET HOUSE OF MATRIARCH IN HOLLYWOOD: TASTE TV AWARDS RED CARPET CELEBRATION The TASTE AWARDS are the highest awards for the Lifestyle Entertainment Industry. Also known as the Tasty Awards, they are the premier broadcast awards show celebrating the year s best achievements in Food, Fashion, Home and Lifestyle programs on television, in film, on-line, and on radio. House of Matriarch was selected as Official Fragrance Partner for the outstanding showings at recent West Coast Fragrance Salons. Matriarch s Perfumer and Flavorist, Tastemaker Christi Meshell and the Matriarch brand was honored on January 16, 2014 at the Red Carpet celebration at The Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. The awards event featured a star-studded lineup of food and fashion TV celebrities, including winners, nominees and presenters followed by an after-awards reception for networking, photography, mingling, interviews and socializing over wine, cocktails, hors d oeuvres and artisan chocolate. Because fragrance is so personal, all the VIP s enjoyed our perfumes after the party. There were samples of our brand new Bohemian Black for every guest. 18
