2 September 2013 UERMI Fragrance Collection is born The uniqueness of the brand starts with its concept UERMI is an olfactive interpretation of our most beloved fabrics Perfumes and fabrics share an elective affinity with our skin. Both are literally worn by us, becoming a subtle or strong expression of our personality. That is why UERMI = WEAR ME. Perfumes and fabrics caress and gratify in real time our senses smell, sight, touch in particular. They powerfully evoke memories. An old pair of velvet pants or jeans, a tweed jacket, a silk tie or a scarf, a cashmere sweater can reistate a fragment of our past. A fabric, just as a perfume, can make us travel through time. This is a made in Italy project, in its concept and manufacture, an olfactive research in collaboration with three talented French noses, amongst the most creative of the great Japanese Fragrance Producer Takasago: Jean Jacques, Philippe Bousseton, Antoine Lie. They have created for us beautiful olfactory answers to provocative questions like if you think of velvet or silk or tweed what kind of scent would come to your mind? Each interpretation is always very personal, thus intriguing. The artistic perfumery at its best finds again its origins: research and craftsmanship in every single detail. 4 VE±VELVET by Jean Jacques Eau de Parfum 75 ml Travel size 8,5 ml Velvet gives us an idea of lived in. Distant memories, deeply rooted. The root of vetiver extends itself very deeply in the ground. Vetiver, just as velvet, is loved by women and men, in all its infinite nuances. Marika Vecchiattini Her reviews of UERMI are so suggestive that we ve decided to publish them in this presentation. She wrote The Secret Language of Perfume, holds courses about perfume as artwork. She is also a renowned blogger in her Bergamotto e Benzoino, read by thousands of international perfumery aficionados. The main character starring in VE±VELVET is a beautiful vetiver note, extracted not by distillation but by pressurized carbon dioxide; this is one of the methods by which you get the absolute, which is a richer, fuller, more fascinating raw material to work with. The result in this case is a dry vetiver, haughty and elegant, with just a pinch of softness consistent with the name it bears. The fragrance opens with a dry and bright bouquet, all played in freshness (cardamom, lemon, mint and elemi) introducing a woody accord (cedarwood, patchouli and vetiver). VE±VELVET has the charm of the great perfumes of the past, both in term of raw materials (the citrus and cardamom opening evokes some classic Hermes of the 50 s and 60 s, and vetiver is... the history of perfumery condensed in a note!) and taste: elegant, linear, sober, without excess or dandyism. Paul Newman freshly shaven, leaving the shower wearing only a white towel and a big smile. But also on female skin it shows a great temperament! It remains intense and well perceivable without ever overdoing it, the with a duration of a few hours on skin makes it absolutely enjoyable. 6 NO±SUEDE byantoine Lie Eau de Parfum 75 ml Travel size 8,5 ml The charm of a woman s long gloves, the driving gloves of a man on a sporty car in suede, of course. Unmistakable to the touch, made unique by its peculiar scent also. This nose has a daring soul, able to create olfactory compositions out of the ordinary. NO±SUEDE stars a beautiful leather note, modern and voluptuous. Alongside, saffron, guaiac wood, incense, animal notes and synthetic woods (which in recent years have become very trendy), strengthen the backbone and give it a dark tone, warm and smoky. In the background, an alcoholic direction suggests an evening out with classy Harley riders. It s a sound and exuberant fragrance, notably for the wealth of nuances that round up and complement each other nicefully; the suede feels soft and elegant, very comfortable, with a rogue tip reminding me of Johnny Depp playing the pirate. If it were a Lady, It d be Selma Hayek all dressed in black leather. It lasts several hours, in the drydown it lowers its tone, becoming more discreet and even more seductive. 8 OH±DENIM by Philippe Bousseton Eau de Parfum 75 ml Travel size 8,5 ml Jeans, always contemporary, it belongs to everybody The more it wears out the better it looks. This fragrance boldly celebrates denim with the tuberose, an exuberant, voluptuous flower that blossoms at night. It could be wrongly perceived as a feminine fragrance, but it s oh! so perfect on a contemporary dandy. From OH±DENIM a dazzling clarity springs out; it s due to a bright and rarefied bouquet of white musks used - wisely- at the service of a green-floral accord of neroli, tuberose and ylang ylang. The opening features a precious note of pink pepper, offering a pleasant bubbly boost to the whole composition. The scent results smiling, relaxed, casual, bathed in spring light, as clear as a cloudless sky, as golden as the first rays of sun. A fragrance evoking white shirts, jeans rolled up to the ankles and bare feet sunk in the sand. In the drydown, woody patchouli and oakmoss support the whole fragrance, prolonging its life to a few hours. The feeling of freshness and cleanliness is ideal on a wellgroomed man who does not like to stand out too much, but also on a Lady of simple and refined tastes.if spring is a state of mind, there is no reason not to wear it all year round! 10 AB±CASHMERE by Jean Jacques Eau de Parfum 75 ml Travel size 8,5 ml Cashmere stands for soft, embracing warmth your comfort zone. Nothing could resemble cashmere more than Grey Amber, so sensuous and mesmerizing. Made even more intriguing by Osmanthus, Jasmin, Sandal, Musk and Oliban. A fragrance that enhances the scent of a skin, either feminine or masculine. This fragrance bears an imprint of classic elegance and is a worthy representative of the oriental family (which include some fascinating Guerlain of the past). It evokes both a sophisticated Lady with a strong and decided taste or a gentleman who has traveled a lot and has been able, from every trip, to bring home something unique and special. From the highlands of China, for example, come an elegant jasmine, a precious osmanthus, a dry and cold frankincense mastering the base of this fragrance. It is built around a dry, fresh and pretty bright feeling from the top to the base notes, with hints of bergamot, jasmine, incense and musk; meanwhile, the biscuit-like sugariness/apricot note of osmanthus binds the toasted bread/hot milk of sandalwood and ambergris, creating a rarefied and suspended tone along the fragrance, meditative I d say, that acts as a counterpoint in a very fascinating way. As if inside the urban man (or woman!), apparently solid, compact and clean-shaven, his traveler heart still knew how to feed with the stuff dreams are made of. 12 UR±SILK by Jean Jacques Eau de Parfum 75 ml Travel size 8,5 ml Silk is such an incredible fabric so adored by both men and women, across times and cultures. Smooth, soft and sensuous - perhaps THE most sensuous - skin experience. It makes you believe in spring and summer and everything else. This is a comfortably soft scent, without any conflict, revolving around the embrace between fig and iris. The dusty glow of precious iris envelops and almost transfigures the fig note which, immersed in this translucent powder, loses both the bitter and green connotation of the leaf, and the ripe and juicy pulp: that is, all that makes it real. The fig in UR±SILK is not the true photograph of a fig, but the creamy, milky, silky representation of an ideal fig, and rather than taste it, you d feel like rubbing it on the skin, purring with pleasure. The opening contributes a citrusy brightness, while the floral notes (neroli and lilac) bring a deceptively simple elegance. The cedarwood+cypress drydown brings the fragrance in a dry and classical, almost elegant direction. The fig note makes this scent modern and trendy, suitable for a man s skin as much as a woman s. The scent remains well perceptible but not intrusive, and remains fairly linear and serene for three to four hours. 14 WE±TWEED by Jean Jacques Eau de Parfum 75 ml Travel size 8,5 ml Tweed so totally charming! Old fashion and absolutely contemporary, a hipster avantgarde touch in love with tradition. A personality with a balance of contrasts rude and refined, down to earth and dreamy, masculine and feminine. This scent shows a complex and multifaceted nature, a series of mixed feelings evoke the fabric after which it s named: tweed is a dry, rough wool, dyed in beautiful colors that may show contrasting shades. Sometimes a vermilion thread stands on an electric blue base or a grass-green thread on an orange base. The scent reflects this search in every sense for harmony in contrasts: the opening features a dry, hot and pungent accord, with black pepper adding powderiness. The central accord marries a playful note (an almost childlike red fruit) to a vetiver+cashmeran accord, rather sober and elegant. Benzoin and ambroxan make the drydown unexpectedly sweet, crunchy and powdery, rejoining ideally with the top notes. I believe it hasn t been easy to work with opposing feelings while mantaining elegance and balance in the composition, but Jean Jacques succeeded in it, and the result is a scent both sophisticated and wearable with great pleasure, despite the complexity of its many facets, celebrating in a surprisingly true way the complexity of real tweed. 16 XX±LATEX by Antoine Lie Eau de Parfum 75 ml Travel size 8,5 ml Not a fabric but a material, almost like a liquid skin, latex is an exquisitely surreal association to a playful, ironic erotism. This fragrance is a celebration of rare, futuristic molecules that become real on a skin. The most interesting ozonic/marine scent I ve ever tried. Antoine Lie is the author of some of the most discussed and controversial fragrances launched in recent years, some of which share an ozonic base recognizably from him. I was expecting something challenging and unusual and in fact the starting is actually marine, fresh, airy, salty, with a feeling of cleanliness and simplicity - typical of all the fragrances in this family - due to the brilliance of the aldehydes, the freshness of marine notes (they re white musks) and the pungent feeling of the rose oxide. The contemporary idea of clean scents! But while other marine/ozonic fragrances feature aromatic or spicy notes, thus choosing more pungent, fresh or flowery directions, here a strange sweetness emerges, recalling something sensual and weird. A spectacular note of indole, which here is finally celebrated as the olfactory masterpiece it really is. This indolic note, with its decadent charm (it s the smell of decomposing flowers) stimulates some areas of the brain with a magnetic, irresistible force, commanding you to come closer. It gives the composition an unusual and intriguing appeal, like those carnivorous plants attracting insects with their vertigo of sweetness, and then closing on them in a deadly embrace. This is without doubts the most sensual and animal among all theozonic scents I ve ever tried; it starts delicate but acquires intensity and boldness as minutes pass. 18 DO±WASHI by Antoine Lie Eau de Parfum 75 ml Travel size 8,5 ml East meets West in the unique, mesmerizing Washi Fabric, a combination of silk, cashmere, cotton or linen and rice paper or washi (80%). An unprecedented material luxurious, eco-friendly, with futuristic properties: antibacterial, it maintains the skin coolness and hydration, absorbes UV rays and acts as sunscreen. An encounter between past and avantgarde, nature and technology, Japanese and Italian cultures. An extremely fresh opening, with an accord of peony and lilac playing a starring role, while some IsoESuper offers these flowers an otherworldly brilliance. The Cashmeran (a molecule that smells majesticly woody with a silver texture) is almost immediately perceptible, tonka bean and musk add softness and powderiness to the drydown. A seemingly simple pyramid, reflecting the seeming simplicity so dear to Japanese aesthetic. Washi is in fact the name of a precious fabric designed and developed through a collaboration between Italy and Japan and masterfully marries tradition and technology, East and West cultures. So does this scent, too. Tradition and technology resonate in the raw materials: some are so flowery and romantic that could almost be considered rétro, while others are modern and extremely trendy. The Western culture, however, is evident in the composition of the fragrance, which sits well perceivably on the skin throughout its development, while the East becomes obvious when wearing it: this scent is so clearly Japan-inspired that you have no doubts! In fact, the first image arising after the spray is a bright and fresh scented rain, but Washi shows also character and longevity. Although not characterized as a scent pour elle it might be the fragrance worn by Moon in the movie Hero by Zang Yimou. 42 THE MEANING OF THOSE 2 LETTERS IN UERMI PERFUMES NAMES Those letters are simply a playful mental game... AB... C like cashmere VE as in Vetyver for velvet NO, it s not real suede but almost, and even better OH, denim always deserves an exclamation! U are like silk... the reference is the skin, of course WE for tweed is another word game ( tweet and twitter... sense of community... WE) XX... latex is a material perceived as a forbidden one, certainly not a bon-ton piece of outfit one would wear, and we love the irony of it. We wanted to touch a surreal world, a different dimension of olfactory experience... not too wild but not too wise either. The meaning of XX... X is connected with the spiciness of hot movies, right? XXX is very hot (= porn) but XX is softly erotic... DO to the precious washi fabric (wa = Japan, shi = paper) we associated a word (DO) very important to the Japanese culture.
