A semi-shiny coating is applied onto the leather to obtain the carbon fiber pattern: small groups of 6 lines are drawn in crossing direction to obtain that carbon fiber effect (see sketch). A special process chemically binds the coating to the leather surface, creating an inseparable thin finish. 11 CUSTOMER OBJECTIONS & RESPONSES The carbon leather doesn t look like real leather. The carbon pattern is obtained by applying on lambskin a specific coating that is maintained at less than 0.15mm. Therefore the product is classed as a true leather. The carbon fiber coating protects the leather and provides good water vapor permeability on the leather side, whilst giving high water repellency on the finish side. The carbon leather doesn t smell like real leather. The carbon fiber coating protects the leather and therefore does not allow for the leather scent to come out. S.T.Dupont s carbon leather is calfskin which is one of the best quality leathers. Why isn t the shoulder strap removable on laptop and document holders? This is very inconvenient. The shoulder strap is removable indeed on the Double laptop and document holder. The two smaller sizes of laptop and document holders are meant to be carried on the shoulder or across the body. Although the shoulder strap is not removable, they can also be carried by hand. In addition, the Wheeled extra-large laptop and document holder is also equipped with a removable shoulder strap. Although it will mostly be used as a trolley, it was important to offer our customers an additional shoulder wear which will be useful in crowded airport or train stations. 13 MAINTENANCE CUSTOMER ADVICE: HOW TO MAINTAIN A DEFI GOOD & CALFSKIN: Leather is a natural material that requires care. + Firstly, leather does not withstand water very well. It is therefore important to wipe briefcases or wallets dry if they get wet (rain). + Likewise, leather can be damaged by excessive heat. It is strongly recommended to remove leather articles from sources of heat (spotlight, heating) + If leather needs to be cleaned, it is best to do so with leather protection cream: it will provide a barrier protection that will prevent leather from being attacked by skin oils, perspiration & grease. Leather will keep its original appearance longer. NB: Solvent and alcohol-based products should never be used. AND NON-BRUSHED MICROFIBER LINING: + Daily cleaning It is sufficient to dust microfiber lining using a soft brush, a dry cloth, or a vacuum cleaner. + Weekly cleaning After having dusted microfiber lining, run a slightly moistened white cotton cloth over it. NB: Solvent and alcohol-based products should never be used. Did you know? What is Terre de Sommières? This sepiolite powder is widely known for its stain-removing properties. It was extracted from mines in the nearby village of Salinelles in France and shipped from the Sommières train station which explains its name. Today, its use in removing oil stains is as recommended as ever as it is a totally natural product.
