But what do you think? I think I have the right to be afraid sometimes ( ) Heart still beats. ( ) I feel some fear, it is gone, it is not there anymore, it will come back, It doesn t matter. 4 ARTISTIC NOTE IS THERE A WORD TO DESCIBE THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM? Rouge Nord Exquisite fatality. This enjoyable moment of tension is born between silence and turbulence. A bright feeling of an approaching gust... Uncertain future. Sweet clarity of an eventual storm plunges us into this moment of suspension. Experiment through this creation the relationship between man and machine as well as the risk approach which we find in the essence of the circus. A tightrope performance mixed with a cinematic scenario. Wandering characters, breaking with their environment. A decad and dusty universe as a dance floor. Bring the whole audience together around a tangible and unique tension, depending on the location, the territory and the public. Collective creation Cirque Pardi! 7 PRESENTATION OF THE PROJECT THE STAGE DESIGNU A MECHANICAL BALLET Rouge Nord is an adventure that starts in the daytime. A park, a street, a square, where visuals installations is to be discovered, a visible sound gallery that can be explore, read and heard. A feeling of confusion is offered to those who pass by, who are used to theses places. Is this an event in the past, present or future? Is there an intended development? Is it even possible? The noise of an engine rises and opens the door to action. The crane unfolds its antennas on the budding music. Just in front of yours eyes, an unexpected scene takes place. Suspended moment. No, it s not an accident but an eye-opener to a metal-colored dream. The wire is tensed, the funambolist breathes. 70 meters, go straight, no doubts, the public is behind you, on the edge, Rouge Nord, it s a call! A strangely ordinary place. Some layers of sound escape from a container on the square. Not far away, an old phone booth lives alone, forgotten and broken. Some vehicles are lying here and there. A vibrant glow appears. We approach, we percieve images and sounds from an unknown time. In front, in a 50 meters distance, a trailer on the right side, the wheels not even touching the ground... she is there on her right side, as if she was lying down to rest. Posters cover her, keeping her warm. Texts, pictures, phrases along with some drawings... This is no Street Art, this is no advertisement, this is not a billboard! This is there, here and now, and it s normal.. A strange truck is parked a few steps away, in a corner, waiting for his fellows. There is smoke, gnashing of metal, a sound rises. Some people show up. Their well paced work recalls the activity of ants. This strange machine moves, arouses, comes to life. Like an insect, he starts to walk in the space before integrating in this unique setting. Sound becomes music, and the volume increases. A gentle tension can be felt. An extraordinary daily scene.

9 THE MUSIC A LYNCHESQUE UNIVERSE There is sound. Space is cold, empty. Echoes bump into the walls. Nothing happens here anymore since a long time ago. Our convoy moves forward gently, slowly, dragging its history and the one of those who have taken place in it. A metallic and synthetic drone sound revolves around us. Scathing old melodies arise from our instruments. Gritty and soft rhythm-boxes diffuse their sound. Ghostly keyboards distort their notes. Distant filtered voices. Bright guitars. The cables are uncoiled, the spotlights turn on. A mechanical & oneiric fable of sound. Live. From Red to North. THE WIRE A AERIAL PERFORMANCE Intensity, sweet suspense. To walk on a wire, to move one foot in front of the other to go higher, to keep the balance and grow, grow, play, and share these feelings. Play, play, play, walk, ride, go higher, one more step, approach the horizon, touch the sky and fall down. Play games, games, games, I go higher, go up, ascend to heaven not to fall, fall into oblivion. Voltage, intensity, excitement, an electric sensation of a pleasurable fear. Apprehension, acceptance. Accept the beauty of a fatality or accept the fatality of a beauty. Life. A tribute to life, challenging death. A storm, life. Walk to move forwards, focus on emptiness, breathe, look around, breathe. To touch the wind and feel the void, to absorb it, breathe, inhale, take a deep breath, let it go through me and exhale, blow, blow and release. Blow away the death and respect it. I walk.

10 CREW TIMOTHÉ LOUSTALOT GARES TIGHTROPE WALKER,TECHNICIAN «I remember that I refused to discover life on the school benches, so I went to discover it on the road.» Early fanatic of nomadism, Timothé Loustalot Gares tries to understand the concept of freedom. On his journeys through Europe, he meets music and performing arts on the streets. He crisscrosses around, and in Poland he meets circus. His wandering turns into roaming. He tries out construction of scenographies and circus equipments. He aliments his inspirations with meetings and forms himself into a stage manager, always remaining fascinated by the light... before landing, one day, on a wire. Tight-rope walking becomes his passion. He walks, step by step, a little higher, continuing to try to understand this concept of freedom. «Always keep on going forward», trying not to fall. He then develops this leading theme in the creation of this project. he s been there : Cirque Pardi!, Le Cirk Oblique, Fet a Mà, Les Philosophes Barbar, Kollectif Point Barre, Faim de loup, Endogène, Yi Fan... ALOIS PESQUER MANIPULATOR, STAGE MANAGER «I was initiated to puppetry at a very young age by my father. I started to tinker around in the working space of my family in order to give life to objects.» Brought up in the universe of the Royal de Luxe and Archaos, Alois Pesquer meets Sweatlodge and start on the construction of a Carnival created by the fantasy of a group of artistic constructors. He then discovers the principles of metalwork for live shows. Perceived by the Fusion Festival in Germany, he participates every year with this collective in the construction of the scenography of the circus-space. At this crossroad he meets Cirque Pardi! and new relationship emerges. In parallel, he builds machines for the show Enzo l insaississable, an illusionist from Nantes. He becomes stage manager which allows him to follow the entire process of the creation of a show, but the work in a black box does not entirely fulfill him. To invade public spaces and to reach a more general public is his motivation to invest in the project «Rouge Nord», an itinerant adventure in which he aims to break conventional boundaries and combine industrial design with circus arts. 11 ANTOINE BOCQUET COMPOSEUR, MUSICIAN «As far as the eye can see, ice-cold lakes, that one day I swore to step.» Antoine Bocquet navigates for 7 years between big tops, theaters and public spaces. He studies musicology in Paris, with a master about Master Brian Eno, diverging suddenly to Ahmad Jamal, before turning towards his future: circus life. He takes off with Cirque Melem, a modern equestrian circus, composing the pianomusic for the show. There he meets Fabien Gruau, photographer and director, with whom he founds «Les Aires», a performance combining photography and sound. Later, he meets Cirque Pardi!, a collective of circus artists from Toulouse, in which he puts all his energy. He composes the music for the show «Borderland» and plays it live. Multi-instrumentalist, he composes music on machines and computers. The more he progresses, the more he feels the desire to «poetisize» different kinds of areas, not only theaters or big tops, with photography, light and sound. CAROLA ARAMBURU MUSICIAN, actress «To hit the road, to meet the local people, and to share this sweet madness in which, without realizing, the audience becomes involved.» Carola Aramburu meets the street circus through a collective project to save a school and she uses the circus to save her adolescence. In Buenos Aires, she experiences professionals trainings and different companies. She give circus lessons and work on events Then, she landed in Toulouse. The circus school Le Lido turns his head and a knee. In search of a path after the storm, Le Cirque Pardi! arrives with his convoy; mixture of adrenaline, charm and challenges, the encounter is obvious. Singing then becomes a need, hooping her unconditional partner and dancing a challenge. Quickly, between the marquee and rock music, scrap metal and a later creation, the family grows and she becomes mama. 17 years after its meeting with the circus and after 9 years of applications for visas and 5 years of life in the road, she responds to the call of Rouge Nord! 12 RECRUITEMENT REMI BERNARD STAGE HAND, TECHNICIAN «For the moment I am speechless there» Difficult to find a photo of him Always in action, not the time to pose! Moreover Rémi Bernard had several lives before the entertainment world. He begins by doing farmer s training which brings him to be a cook then a worker sheet iron manufacturer, but also electrician, truck driver, mechanic PL and TP, negotiating in truck and equipment for the export then scrap merchant. He makes then a decisive meeting with Sweatlodge and the collective Toto Black and puts his skills of stage manager constructor stagehand in the service of the scenography of the circus-space. Perceived by the Fusion Festival in Germany, he participates every year with this collective in the construction of the scenography of the circus-space. It is in this crossroads that he meets the Cirque Pardi! and that links weave and joned naturally the Rouge Nord project, seduced by its atypical truck crane. 13 COMPANY Le cirque pardi! modern CIRCUS, HONEST AND experimental «We work with highly skilled circus artists. We experiment with sincere meetings on every level.» Pardi! is an aesthetic and artistic research that comes face to face with the public, with an originally designed and homemade big top, trying to find her autonomy as a cultural association, proposing social and cultural side events to create social mixture, a very brave team, a balance between tradition and modernity. 15 TECHNICAL RIDER IDENTIFICATION NOTE ROUGE NORD INSTALLATION AND PERFORMANCE IN PUBLIC PLACE FOR ALL AGES AN ARTISTIC PROPOSAL IN TWO-PARTS Part 1 A site-specific installation in the public space, a scenographic composition of modified vehicles and old urban furniture. This installation is adaptable to the space offered by the organizer. Technical requirement Implantation : Autonomous structure, no attachment to the ground or to urban buildings are necessary. On the road : 1 truck including the entire scenography. 19 I don t sleep, I m here and I don t sleep, outside the silence of the snow is swallowing the street, I don t sleep, lying in this white cotton, I breathe the void between the flakes. I don t see, I see white, I breathe, I breathe the cold, raining snow. The clouds are mixed with blue sky and snow is raining, the ground is white then covered with this coat, then the sky covers the earth, and I don t sleep. I m here and I m not cold, I m allright, I m covered by the sky, the sky is over lying over me, this white, fluffy cloth covers me and I am allright, the silence cracks and I don t sleep. Eyes closed, I see white, it s raining snow in my eyes, I sleep there.
