2 Greenville, South Carolina is the site for AATCC s 2018 International Conference. The Hyatt Regency is the conference venue for the March 6-8 event. The Hyatt is located in the trendy downtown area of Greenville and is near the area s best dining, shopping, and entertainment. The program will consist of three concurrent tracks reflecting the Association s three Interest Groups: Concept 2 Consumer (C2C), Chemical Applications, and Materials. Sessions in the C2C track will focus on new trends in lighting and color management, supply chain/speed to market, sustainability, and testing. The Chemical Applications track will address coloration and chemistry, technologies to achieve comfort, odor control and antimicrobial, and the Herman and Myrtle Goldstein Student Paper Competition. Presentations in the Materials track will include advances in fibers and fabrics, flexible wearable technology, medical/biomedical textiles, and protective clothing comfort and performance. 5 PRE-CONFERENCE EVENT FIBERS FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE TEXTILES TUTORIAL 2:00 5:15 pm Tuesday, March 6 Presenter: Dr. Seshadri Ramkumar, Professor of Advanced Materials, Nonwovens & Advanced Materials Laboratory, Texas Tech University High performance textiles are basically functional textiles that provide added value to the textiles in addition to common attributes of clothing materials. The functionality is achieved due to the starting material, i.e., fibers, structural aspects and finishing imparted to the final product. This tutorial will focus on the first pillar, which is the raw material for advanced textiles product. The seminar is aimed at starters in the field as well as those who have the basic understanding of textiles and industrial textiles in particular. Subject areas covered will include: an outline of high performance textiles, classification of fibers, fibers that provide different functionality, functionality provided by 3-dimensional and structural fibers such as bi-component, sustainability aspects, micro and nano structural fibers, and what s next? The tutorial is not included with the conference registration. A discounted tutorial registration fee will be available to individuals attending the conference. PRESENTATION ABSTRACTS Presentation abstracts for the C2C, Chemical Applications, and Materials Tracks may be viewed at AATCC s website, KEYNOTE PRESENTATION 9:00 am, March 7 Jerry Inman, Demand Worldwide, will provide the keynote presentation. This insightful presentation, The Retail Rebels Who Will Conquer the Connected Consumer, will explore how you collaborate, communicate, and connect with the next generation of shoppers and employees Generation Z as they are definitely different. POSTER SESSION Posters will be available for viewing March 6 from 6:00 8:00 pm and all day on the 7 th. Presenters will be in attendance on March 7 from 4:30 5:30 pm to discuss their research and address questions. TABLETOP EXHIBITS Tabletop exhibits will feature color management software, systems, and solutions; auxiliaries, dyes, and chemicals; and testing equipment and services for the apparel and textile wet processing industry. Exhibits will be open March 6 during the Welcoming Reception and from 7:30 8:45 am and 4:15 6:00 pm on March 7. A continental breakfast will be served in the exhibit area on March 7 and a reception will be held in the exhibit area that afternoon. Admittance to the exhibit area will require a conference badge. CONFERENCE EVENTS WELCOMING RECEPTION Socialize with your colleagues and visit the tabletop exhibits while enjoying hors d oeuvres and beverages during the 6:00 8:00 pm reception on March 6. AWARDS LUNCHEON The Awards Luncheon will be held from 12:00 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 8. The program will feature the presentation of the Olney Medal for outstanding achievement in textile chemistry, the Harold C. Chapin Award for service to AATCC, the TCR Service Award, the J. W. Weaver Award for best paper published in AATCC Journal of Research, and the winners of the Herman and Myrtle Goldstein Student Paper Competition. Full registration includes ONE ticket to the Awards Luncheon. Additional tickets may be ordered in advance at US$45 each. OLNEY MEDAL ADDRESS The Olney Medal Address, "Cationized Cotton: Opportunities and Challenges," by Peter J. Hauser, North Carolina State University, will be presented on Thursday, March 8, from 8:15 8:55 am. HERMAN AND MYRTLE GOLDSTEIN STUDENT PAPER COMPETITION The Herman and Myrtle Goldstein Student Paper Competition will be held Wednesday, March 7, from 2:15 4:00 pm. Papers are judged on originality, scientific value, and presentation. AATCC Interest Groups provide

6 the judges whose balloting determines the order of finish. Results of the competition will be announced at the Awards Luncheon. CONFERENCE VENUE & ACCOMMODATIONS The conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Greenville, South Carolina, USA. The Hyatt is located in downtown Greenville and is near the area s best dining, shopping, and entertainment. A room block has been reserved at the Hyatt Regency, 220 N. Main St., Greenville, South Carolina USA Reservations should be made directly with the hotel and attendance at the AATCC conference should be specified to receive the group rate of US$159 single/double. The group rate will be available until February 12 th unless the AATCC room block is filled prior to the cutoff date.after the 12 th or once the room block is filled, the prevailing room rate will apply. A first night s room and tax deposit are due with each reservation. Deposits may be made by check or charged to an accepted credit card.
