Holes and tears, fair. $ LOT of SILK TEXILES, 18th C. Consisting of a red velvet panel, cushion cover and valance, the valance having shield-form tabs (applique and tassels removed), and a panel with narrow stripes in cream, dusty rose, yellow and green on a tiny checked weave. Fair. $ THREE PRINTED COTTON PANELS, 19th C. One striped in teal with small white leaves and white with red and tan botehs, probably Persian. One English floral print. Both excellent. One large pieced panel with pomegranate trees, probably Indian, (oxidizing browns, mends and tears) poor. $ BEADED NEEDLEWORK VICTORIAN BELL PULL. Wool flowers with beaded foliage on a ground of crystal beads having a Bohemian glass finial. (Glass cracked, backing shattered, minor bead loss) needlework intact, fair. $ LOT of ASSORTED SMALL BEAD and NEEDLEWORK, 18th-19th C. Including two 18th C. petit point rectangles of figures in landscapes, three rectangles of needlework birds, a silk satin embroidered bag having gilt metal doves and chenille bell tassels, two framed 18th C embroideries: one eagle in tree, one basket of fruit. Good-excellent. $ TWO PIECED SILK TEXTILES with FLORAL BROCADE, 18th C. Dusty pink damask bedcover with a serpentine floral in pastel hues, backed in blue silk, (some splits, mostly at seams). Small ivory panel with Renaissance style metallic gold bouquet with pink, green and plum, (splits and patch). Together with a Chinese or Tibetan Kesa or Kashaya, Buddhist priest's robe, 18th C or earlier, (very damaged). Poor-good. $ LOT of TEXTILES with FLORAL DECORATION, 18th C. Ivory moire silk damask with serpentine design. Red, white and blue block printed cotton. Wide printed silk ribbon in green on cream. Small tambour embroidered linen fragments. Red wool with beaded floral repeat, having ornate brass end hardware with paint decoration, one with glass pull, (chip to glass, hardware detached, hole to one end of needlework) fair. Of trapezoidal shape in red silk satin with couched embroidery in silver and gold metallic threads, the Greek MPOY for "The Mother of God" with figure within niche before bench, surrounded by roundels with crosses and fleurs de lis, openwork metallic border, backed in paper, canvas and silk layers. Irregular 10 x 16. (Some abrasion, backing torn and fragile) otherwise very good. $ ITALIAN SILK EMBROIDERED LINEN PANEL, 17th C. Horizontal rectangle centered with basket of exotic fruits flanked by parrots, foliage and flowers. 22 x 66. (Applied borders unreconciled, areas of abrasion lower center left and right) fair. $ EMBROIDERED SILK SATIN PURSE with TASSELS, 17th C. Red ground with stylized tulips in green, blue, red and cream couched embroidery, small rectangle having tassel on each side and three across the bottom, with bicolor cord drawstring and handle all with tassels, lined in green silk. 4 1/2 x 5 1/2. (Tassel losses, wear to embroidery) fair. $ SPANISH KNITTED SILK NARROW STOLE, 17th-18th C. Gold and red with pious motto on one side and various religious, animal and floral symbols on verso, two braided ties at shoulder area and two tassels at terminus. 1 3/4 x 112. Very good. $ THREE PANELS SPITALFIELDS ENGLISH SILK, c One taupe with pinecones and bows in pinks, greens, brown and white, (small holes), 16 x 29. 3 571 UNCUT GREEN SILK FAILLE WAISTCOAT HALF FRONT, 18th C. Having silver metallic embroidered edge and flap pocket trim with pendelous flowers. 22 x 36. (silk cut at top) otherwise excellent. $ SILK PLUSH CARRIAGE or UNIFORM BRAID in TWO PATTERNS, 18th C. One having a repeat of gold lion within a deep blue crown above three bars in inverted crown spaced by red flowers. Six pieced lengths, 1 1/2 wide x total 293. Fair-good. One with light blue ground and intertwined serpentine foliate bands in gold and red centered by 4-petal flowers in black and gold. Four pieces 1 3/4 x total length 190. (Worn) poor-fair. Lot includes a large woven silk cord tassel with looped fringe, fair. $ METALLIC EMBROIDERED SILK BABY CAP, 18th C. Cream satin having a double folded box pleat at front and back, all decorated in a stylized floral in couched silver metallic threads of several types with pink, green and ivory silk floss embroidery, tiny beads and sequins, silk lining and ties. Ex. Nadelman Collection. 7 1/2 x 4 1/2. (Breaks to silk at crown and hem, ties torn) fair. $ FRENCH METALLIC EMBROIDERED VELVET GAMING PURSE, 18th C. Deep red drawstring pouch, the sides having an overall pattern of silver fleurs de lis, bottom round having metallic shield with crown and cross, white kid lining, tasseled cord handles. 5 diameter x 2 1/2. Lining excellent, (overall wear to velvet and embroidery) fair. $ ENGLISH GLAZED and PRINTED COTTON YARDAGE, 1830's. Boldly decorated with exotic and fanciful fruits and flowers in green, red, orange and brown. 25 x 106. (Scattered holes from oxidized brown pigment) fair. $ IBERIAN SILK EMBROIDERED PANEL with MERMAID, EARLY 18th C. Satin stitch in a palette of pale golds, greens, blues and pinks worked on a brown canvas and net ground, depicting a mermaid in a central cartouche beneath a monkey surrounded by flowering vines, crested birds eating worms, peacocks and woodland creatures within a floral border, backed in aqua silk. 50 x 64. Numerous breaks and losses to canvas and net, losses to embroidery, silk backing torn, heavy losses to right border, poor. $ MEXICAN or SPANISH COLONIAL SAMPLER, LATE 18th C. Filet and embroidery in silk on linen, the top quadrants in colorful filet, pulled threads and drawn work in geometric patterns, center section in cross stitch having trees, house, deer, bird, squirrels and carnations with partial inscription "Dechado de concepcion de Jes...", the lower quadrants with cross stitch floral bands. 10 1/2 x 12. (Several holes along center fold and one near right edge, few filet breaks) good. $ MEXICAN CONVENT GIRLHOOD NEEDLEWORK SAMPLER, 18th C. From El Convento de la Ensenanza La Antigua. Ten horizontal bands of fancy silk embroidery and weaving including Aztec stitch and flame stitch on natural linen with letters "HECHO POR TE CLARA MIRAS EN LA ESCUELA NORMAL DE NINAS ANO DE 84". 8 x 16 1/2. Some stains, minor losses, good. $ MEXICAN CONVENT GIRLHOOD NEEDLEWORK SAMPLER, 18th C. From El Convento de la Ensenanza La Antiqua. Natural linen with alphabet, flower baskets, horse tied to tree, birds, squirrels and bands of cross and satin stitch patterns. 28 1/2 x 16 1/4. Overall light stains, small hole and spot, good. $

4 580 MEXICAN CONVENT GIRLHOOD NEEDLEWORK SAMPLER, 18th C. From El Convento de la Ensenanza La Antiqua. Bands of assorted stitch patterns in silk on natural linen along with numerals and "DE MANO DE" lacking name. 14 3/8 x 16. Scattered small, light stains, good. $ MEXICAN CONVENT EMBROIDERY by MARIA PETRA TERUEL, HEROINE of INDEPENDENCE, Natural linen having bands of various stitch patterns, monkeys, birds and flowers worked in silk "LOLABRO DONA MARIA PETRA TERUEL EN EL COLEGIO DE LA COMPANIA DE MARIA...ENSENANZA DE MEXICO DEL ANO DE 1784". Married to a wealthy planter, de Valasco, Teruel became a "Maid Marion" helping insurgents and protecting prisoners in the early 19th C. 17 3/4 x 15 1/4. Scattered spots, good. $ THREE MEXICAN EMBROIDERED TEXTILES, 19th C. All from El Convento de la Ensenanza La Antiqua. Cream silk with parrot, roosters and flowers, signed in gold metallic "La hija Clementina Charl...". 16 x 14. Cream satin with floral appliques, gold metallic and sequin decoration, possibly a chalice cover. 15 x 18. Natural linen embroidered with cross in shield and "Ave Maria J.M.J.T. Alabo a Dios, Cobento del Desierto. De su sacristia: ano x 19. Splits to silks, some stains, fair-good. $ AMERICAN CROSS STITCH NEEDLE WORK SAMPLER, Long vertical panel decorated with various floral and animal elements including dog, goose, birds, flowers, willow tree, initialed "M M" as a crown carried by doves and dated 1810, beneath willow at bottom the initial "S". 10 1/2 x 20. Excellent. $ QUAKER LINEN NEEDLEWORK, Executed in silk on linen by Lydia A. Walton in the "House on Hill" style, with rose and vine border on the sides, the top center a pious verse between floral bouquets and her parents initials over flowers and vines, "Lydia A. Walton" above her teacher's name "Paulina G. Roberts Preceptress" over house with garden and animals. Appears to retain original wood backing. 16 1/4 x 20 3/4. Under glass with wood frame. Excellent. $2, QUAKER LINEN NEEDLEWORK, Executed in silk on linen by Martha P. Roberts in basket of flowers design, having a berry and vine border on two sides with seven large and two small floral bouquets surrounding "Martha P. Roberts 1834" over a basket of flowers flanked by willow trees. Lot includes note of family provenance. 17 1/2 x 17. Appears to retain original back board and frame. Excellent. $1, WOOL JACQUARD COVERLET, Navy blue and ecru loomed in two widths in a reversible pattern of flower and star medallions, bordered on three sides with trees and eagles, the lower corner blocks read "1836, Groton N. York L.T." 76 x 86. (Edges fraying, small stain, some wear at top) good. $ APOTHEOSIS of FRANKLIN and WASHINGTON TOILE BEDCOVER, ENGLISH for EXPORT c Bleached cotton with red copperplate printed Liberty allegorical scenes, in three panels 31 x 83, pieced with an additional 14 inches at top, 97 x 91 1/2, tape bound edges. Belonged to Revolutionary War surgeon Dr. Albigence Waldo who served under Gen. Israel Putnam and was stationed at Valley Forge (some minor fading, small open seam) excellent. Including Waldo's linen bed sheet and ephemera. $3, TWO VELVET TABLE COVERS with HEAVY GOLD EMBROIDERY, 19th C. One royal blue square with raised flowers and vinework, 34 x 34. From a collection of Russian Imperial Art assembled at the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg. Tagged and numbered "X125". 21 x 38. (Small area of abrasion) otherwise excellent. $ LOT of HUDSON-FULTON WALLPAPER, 19th C. Removed from Jeremiah Hutchins Tavern, Bath, NH, built 1798, found on closet walls in 1932 and carefully steamed off. Green, grey and deep red on white with columns and garden elements having reserves with steamboats on river with figures on the shore. Twelve pieces approx. 18 inches x 6 feet. Six pieces approx. 18 x 20 inches. Together with many smaller pieces, total approx. 150 square feet. (Some pieces small holes) overall good. $ NEEDLE LACE TABLECLOTH, c Cream allover floral lace. Together with a pair of peach silk blanket covers, each with three bands of re-embroidered lace on net. Excellent. $ LOT of SIX LACE BOUDOIR CASES, EARLY 20th C. Some handmade, lot includes round with figural bobbin lace, Normandy, filet insertion, mixed laces and applique with embroidery. Includes six satin pillows. Good-excellent. $ THREE EMBROIDERED and CUTWORK BOUDOIR SHAMS, EARLY 20th C. Large linen square having allover cherubs, cornucopias and foliage, (small hole). Linen rectangle having central cartouche with needle lace floral within cutwork scrolls, with narrow filet border. Cotton rectangle with center portrait reserve, broiderie anglaise and scalloped border. Lot includes three pillows. Good-excellent. $ TWO WHITE COTTON MATELASSE BED COVERS, c (Stained but sound). Embroidered by Susan Townsend Fisher, ancestor of donor, lawn with a 5 1/2 inch border of extremely fine embroidery in a pattern of foliate scrolls above a serpentine leaf border and fine scalloped edging. Center back length 6 1/4, width 30. (Few tiny holes and spots) excellent. $ TWO LADIES' WHITEWORK COLLARS, LATE 18th C. Embroidered by Susan Townsend Fisher, ancestor of donor, both lawn with a 4 inch border of extremely fine embroidery in a pattern of foliate arcs filled with floral sprays on various grounds of tiny flowerheads, edged in a fine scallop, the larger having three tiny button closures, center back length 12, width 29, (tiny split at top back, tiny spots) excellent, the smaller 6 x 19, (breaks and mends) fair. $ LADIES' WHITEWORK ACCESSORIES, LATE 18th C. Embroidered by Susan Townsend Fisher, ancestor of donor, consisting of a pair of lawn bell shaped undersleeves finished with 5 1/2 inches of extremely fine embroidery and two rows of ruffled and scalloped edging, 15 inches, few small holes), and a lawn pelerine with over collar, both having serpentine floral and scalloped edge, center back length 10 1/2, width 26, (small breaks to fabric near one point). Good- excellent. $ LARGE WHITEWORK EMBROIDERED PANEL, c Fine cambric rectangle having a narrow foliage border to four sides, the ends having a deep border with a repeat of three different foliate plumes. 36 x 125. Matching pattern with tiered flowers, 11 1/2 inches wide, one having tapering ends crossed, joined and pieced to form a large round band, total length 54, the other piece 48 inches. (Small holes, mostly at the footside) good. $ FOUR PIECES HANDMADE BOBBIN LACE, c Two Cantu: Runner with birds, 36 x 12 1/2, trim fragment, 29 x 5 1/2. Two Honiton: Wide trim, 58 x 10 1/2, (some broken brides, small mend), and a cap. Goodexcellent. $ THREE PIECES BRUSSELS MIXED LACE, c Large bertha, 8 1/2 wide, footside 45, (few small holes). Oblong scarf, 58 x 7. Tapering collar, widest 6 1/2 x 36 1/2. Good-excellent. $1, THREE LARGE ECRU LACE COLLARS MID 19th C and c One Carrickmacross bertha, ex. Doris Langley Moore, 5 1/2 x 48. One bobbin lace, 4 wide, (small break to edge at tip). One embroidered net with pink satin rosettes and cutwork, 7 1/2 wide. Together with three collar and cuff sets: White pique with lace, white organdy with lace, and one cream lace. Good-excellent. $ FRAMED POINT de GAZE WEDDING HANDKERCHIEF, 19th C. Having a lobed pattern with roses below arches between medallions and foliage with raised loops and rings within a border of leaves and flowerheads. Mounted on pink silk faille within a narrow gilt frame. 13 1/4 square, frame 14 1/2. (Two tiny spots to center ground) excellent. $ HANDMADE BRUSSELS LACE BERTHA with LAPPETS, 19th C.
