1 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q1. What should I do if someone is hesitant to remove her make up before going into the SAM? First, set her at ease by letting her know it's totally understandable! Second, explain to her that without removing lotions and cosmetics, you would be unable to get an accurate reading in the machine. In order to educate her on the condition of her skin, we will need a clean fresh face to analyze. Q2. What should I do if someone says they have very sensitive skin and they re concerned about using our products on their face? Let them know that Artistry uses the best of science and the best of nature in their skincare. You may also want to say Artistry uses natural botanicals grown on their own certified organic farms to ensure the highest quality. Many ladies who have had similar concerns have tried the products and love them - and we think you will too! Q3. What should I do if someone has a reaction to the products? 1: Apply milk on a cotton swab to sooth the skin. 2: Have them wash their face and apply the essentials Soothing Crème to reduce redness and calm upset skin. Q4. What should I suggest if someone says they are very brand loyal? Let them know that you understand, but that you encourage them to try Artistry today, risk free, and see how they like it. Remind them that it is a top 5 largest selling premium skincare brand for a reason. Let them know you are excited for them to have the opportunity to get analyzed in the SAM machine because it will enable them to see the underlying condition of their skin and help to determine if their current regimen is working well for them. 1

2 Q5. What should I do if I personally have questions about a specific Artistry product? 1. Reference the Amway site 2. Check with your upline mentor Q6. What if a customer is concerned that the products may be too expensive for their tight budget? Let them know that your goal is to work with whatever budget they have. You can prioritize the products that you feel will benefit their skin the most. Ask what they currently have at home. (Ex: Don't prioritize a toner if they already have three of them at home.) Q7. Are dark skin tones more difficult to analyze in the SAM? Skin conditions are still visible under SAM even on darker skin tones. However, they may look different than on lighter skin tones. Also, the color of the products under SAM may stand out more noticeably on lighter skin. Q8. Can I see skin cancer under SAM? Remember that SAM is not designed to be used as a medical diagnostic tool. It may be possible to see skin cancer under SAM; however, you will not recognize it. If you see something questionable, refer your client to a licensed dermatologist. Q9. Are there certain recommendations I need to make if people tell me they have eczema and/or rosacea (or broken capillaries)? All products can be used on these conditions, except for Polishing Scrub and the Pore Cleansing Masque. None of the Artistry products are proven to cure or treat these skin conditions; however, let them know it s not unusual for them to see improvements. Q10. Should I buy my own SAM T-3? Probably! If you want to take ownership of your business and purchase a SAM, discuss with your upline. 2

3 Q11. What happens if a client breaks out once they start using Artistry products? If they have clogged pores and you have recommended deep cleansing, this is normal. Prepare them beforehand so that if this does occur, they are not shocked. If they have clogged pores, breakouts are likely to occur as the skin is deep cleansing; this can last up to two weeks. Q12. What is the shelf-life of the Artistry products? Three years, if unopened. Q13. What is Artistry s return/customer satisfaction policy? 180-Day, 100% Customer Satisfaction Guarantee. Q14. What if I have problems with my SAM-T3? Contact URA Customer Service. Q15. What if I need replacement parts for my SAM T-3? Only use authorized parts purchased through URA. Q16. Is SAM safe? Are there time limits to how long someone can be in the SAM? Yes, the SAM T-3 uses only completely safe UV-A light. This is the same type of light that is used in malls, bowling alleys, kid s rooms, etc. The SAM T-3 s UV Lamps use a wavelength of 315 to 350 nm, which is in the safe black light range. Please try to keep the individual session to a maximum of 30 minutes. Observe the 3-minute maximum continuous exposure period. Observe 15 minutes of exposure per client for an 8-hour period. What if someone says, Why do I need a 3-step System? Each part is important to a perfect, effective skincare routine. Cleanser: To remove surface dirt, oil & impurities. 3

4 Toner: To break down surface dirt, oil and impurities and chemicals from water that the cleanser cannot, helping to restore ph level to normal. Moisturizer: To moisturize & balance skin, improve elasticity and protect against environmental assaults. Q18. What if someone has combination skin? Can l mix-and-match? YES! Artistry s skincare systems are formulated to work together. This allows you to customize your customer s skincare routine. Q19. Why is it important to use Night Crème/Lotion? Can t I use the Day Crème/Lotion in its place? Your skin regenerates 35% faster at night and using the appropriate night crème/lotion keeps your skin in balance and accelerates the healthy skin process. Most day protection crèmes/lotions all have SPF (15 and/or 50). When you sleep, you typically don t need sunscreen, so they remove it and add additional ingredients that assist the skin in renewal and hydration at night. Believe it or not, you actually end up using LESS product when you use the correct crèmes/lotions at the correct times (Day for Day, Night for Night). Q20. What if I have a teenager or someone who is using the Clear.Now product line? Should they use night crème as well? The Artistry Youth Xtend Night Crème/Lotion is designed with balance and anti-aging in mind. Based on their age, they don t need the Youth Xtend but should consider using the appropriate Hydra-V Gel/Creme at night to maintain balance. Q21. When should I think about using Anti-aging products? About 5 years before you think you are going to think about it. It s different for everyone but typically around the age of 30 people start to notice their face changing and this is a great time to incorporate anti-aging products. Q22. Can a tinted Moisturizer be my day moisturizer? In some cases, yes. If you or your client is in a pinch or you/they know they won t use a daytime moisturizer but they like the idea of an all in one crème, 4

5 this is a good solution for them. But introducing them to the idea of a consistent daytime moisturizer will help them achieve healthy, balanced skin. Q23. When the weather changes I sometimes feel that my products feel too light or heavy. Should I change them? Will they go bad? Where should I keep them? Can I use them again? Great questions! It s VERY normal for skin to adapt and change when the weather does. Humidity, dryness, etc. all affect skin. It s very common to adapt skincare between summer into fall and winter into spring. Yes, adjust your products but don t worry, they won t go bad. Just keep them capped; if you lost the lotion cap, take some plastic wrap and wrap it around the top so air doesn t get in and dry it out. Store them in a place where the temperature is consistent - not near your vanity lights (too hot) or in the fridge (too cold) - but usually a drawer in your vanity will do. When the weather changes, pull out your products and carry on. Q24. What is the best way to apply products? Some say dab it on, then blend them on your face with your whole hand, or just a finger, or even a brush or sponge. Many people have found that when you use your whole hand to blend applied products you waste quite a bit. Product gathers between your fingers or you end up treating the inside of your hand, then washing it off during the day. Sponges absorb a portion of the product and so do brushes. An easy way to apply without wasting product or putting too much pressure on your skin, (thus affecting the collagen and elastin) is to blend with one finger. You can treat your middle finger like a palette and blend the product on your face without the waste and too much pressure. It may take practice but it s worth it. Q25. Are all sunscreens the same? No, they aren t. You wouldn t want to use the same sunscreen on your face each day that you would use on your whole body when at the beach. On a daily basis you need something that is more refined for your skin; beach sunscreen won t do the job. Most SPFs just sit on your skin and need to be reapplied every minutes in order to be effective. Who is going to do that on a busy day? Did you know that 90% of all premature aging is caused by the sun? Using a good, effective sunscreen like Artistry will help win that 5

Because Artistry uses Pharmaceutical grade ingredients combined with organic ingredients, it penetrates the dermal layer and gives you added protection - all day UVA, UVB and UVC protection. So no, all SPFs aren t equal; some are WAY more effective than others. Q26. All skincare is really the same right? I can get the exact same thing at the drugstore, don t you think? No. Your Grandmother was right when she said you get what you pay for. If a product costs $10 don t expect a $100 result. Look at the ingredients and determine if there is science behind the brand. Typically if you can t pronounce or don t recognize the ingredients, it s made in a lab with minimal natural ingredients (which, surprise, are more expensive to add). Look at the ingredients in Artistry : Alpina leaf, vit A, E, grapeseed extract, bitter orange, oats, cucumber, etc. Artistry also gets all its organic ingredients from the largest certified organic farm in the world, most drugstore brands are petroleum based, which as we all know isn t the greatest for your skin. See sunscreen answer above for even more information. Q27. I have oily skin, so I really don t need a moisturizer right? Well, would you like your skin to be more in balance? Using the proper cleanser, toner and moisturizer will help you with that balance. Your body is creating additional oil to help hydrate your skin, so it s even MORE important for you to use the correct moisturizer - one that BALANCES your skin. Expansion to the answer: If they have clogged pores and you have recommended deep cleansing, this is normal. Prepare them beforehand so that if this does occur, they are not shocked. If they have clogged pores, breakouts are likely to occur as the skin is deep cleansing; this can last up to two weeks. You may want to let them know that whenever you deep cleanse or detox the skin, whether at home or at a spa, there is a 72- hour window where they may notice such a reaction. Many times this does not happen, but if it does, reassure them it is just temporary. Ethnic Skin: 6

7 Q1. What can I expect when I see darker or African American skin under UV? Isn t all skin, skin? Yes, but the way UV light works it refracts/reflects light and areas of concern. On darker black skin, the oil may appear to be more magenta (bright pink/purple) in tone. The areas of dehydration and poor circulation will appear many times almost black under the eyes. If you see a whitish gray or almost light lavender sheen across the face, that is an indicator that they have dry skin and need the appropriate product suggestions. (Ex: polishing scrub, microderm and Day and Night crèmes). AHA is a perfect solution for controlling the oil that naturally occurs in abundance on this type of skin. Lastly, if they are lighter skinned you may see darker freckling along the cheekbone. This is a normal place for freckling to appear and if untreated it will gradually get darker and more pronounced. Recommending the Illuminating Essence will not discolor the skin, just aid the melanin cells (darker cells) to even out and lighten. Q2. What about Asian skin? This skin is lighter and one of the things you will see first is the possible appearance of freckling along the ridge of the cheekbones and bridge of the nose. It is also not uncommon for Asian women to have dry skin. Q3. What about Hispanic or Latina skin? Skin can fall into the light, medium, or dark category. Typically they have a more pronounced T-zone. Freckling may appear on the cheekbones and may be more pronounced. The cheek area could look lighter and patchy. Q4. What about very fair, almost Scandinavian skin, someone who has very light skin and hair? What about Redheads or someone with an Irish/Scottish background? The first thing you may notice is they have an abundance of freckles, set them at ease, this can really surprise someone. Some of the freckles will look almost like a mask on the temple or even the upper lip; this is very common. If they are concerned or want to even out the skin, recommend the Illuminating Essence. It won t erase the freckling but will soften and even out the skin. In addition, you may see what looks like fuzz on their face. It is in fact very fine hairs that cover our face. You need to look through it to see the skin characteristics so you can recommend skin care 7

8 suggestions. Lastly, you may see oil in the T-zone or around the nostrils but normally this skin coloring needs hydration! Keep an eye on the overall tone of the skin, especially the cheeks. If it appears lighter than normal (almost white under SAM), you know what to do: recommend Hydrating products and the Moisture Intense Masque; they will love it and you will see an immediate light purple flush to the skin when they go back under SAM after removing the masque. 8
