Circa Often mistaken for pocket sundials Correct Identity: The thin pressed examples are actually Victorian mounts. The example shown above is a corner mount from a Victorian gothic revival mirror. It has also been said that they are coffin mounts but this remains unsubstantiated. The thin pressed examples such as those illustrated above are sometimes misidentified as badges or bracteates associated with the Knights of the sepulchre. Often found with the threaded part of the shaft missing and therefore those with less obvious designs on the face can easily be mistaken for mounts. Look for breaks or remnants at the narrow end where the shaft of the handle has separated from the knop. Finials and terminal ends.
