After which all items of furniture and rugs will be collected by R D Schofield Removals at a cost per lot of 10 + VAT and 1 per day storage thereafter. This will be payable by you on collection from their premises at Lawford which is a fifteen minute drive from our saleroom. Please note that their offices are not open at weekends. 2 Lot Description Estimated 1 Fine Victorian tinted albumen photographic portrait of HRH Prince Arthur aged 8 years, wearing traditional Highland dress and leaning on a chair back with his right leg crossed - in original moulded gilt gesso frame with white oval slip mount - inscribed in gold 'Arthur 1858' and on gilt outer slip 'Prince Arthur', the reverse with original W. Thomas framers label and Windsor Castle inventory stamp 1872 no. 542 and Queens Personal Property crowned VR stamp - the image 16cm x 12cm, the frame 31cm x 26.5cm. P.' 9 HM Queen Victoria - signed licence document dated 1868, also signed by Gathorne Hardy, the Home Secretary, giving permission for Sir James Stephen to appear for the defence in a court case. Sir James was a noted Judge who was forced to retire through insanity after his judgement in the notorious Mrs Maybrick case. His son, J. K. They were married on 3rd June 'Dear Kitty, I thought I ought to write you as soon as possible and say to go straight ahead with your plans for your autumn guests at Engesfeld - as we are so indefinite about dates. This is caused by the fact that we have to meet lawyers, etc in Paris and have to be there when they are ready with the work that has to be done - this is all supposed to occur during the month of September but we have no idea of the date - and you know what that 'race' of lawyers are about being definite regarding anything. May we leave it this way that I can telephone and if you have no room then we can try to arrange another date. We shall only be two as Dudley can have a little holiday in Vienna - there is still the faithful Storier - but the Austrian can stay in the village.
