2 Q1. What Vaccinations do we need and when do we need to get them? There are no vaccinations required for the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The following are recommended, but are not essential : Vaccination against DTP (Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio) Vaccination against Hepatitis A (Infectious jaundice) Vaccination against MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) Except for the Hepatitis A vaccinations, UK born athletes will have been offered these at birth to one year old, so you will, most probably, have been vaccinated for these already. 3 Q2. Are Tattoos allowed to be on show? When we are in the general public areas Tattoos are allowed, however if any of your tattoos could be deemed as offensive images or slogans then these should be covered up. In competition, the opening ceremony, closing ceremony and awards ceremonies, no national flags are allowed to be on display and this includes tattoos on any athlete s body. If you have a flag tattoo then this will need to be covered during the above listed times. Q3. Will we have to purchase sun cream in Abu Dhabi? Please bring sun cream with you. 4 Q4. Are girls allowed to wear shorts? Yes, but not short shorts (unless this is part of your competition attire)! Shorts should be to knee length for both men and women. Q5. Are we allowed our phones when out in public? Whilst in a training/playing environment phones will be put away. If using phones when in public, this should always be done in an appropriate manner, no swearing, shouting, or inappropriate language, as always, we should try to be respectful and not bring any negative attention to ourselves or the GB Team. 5 Q6. Do the hotels have pools? Most of the hotels will have pools, however your hotels are not yet confirmed and so it is not definite all will have pools. Use of any pools will be decided by the Head Coach and you must respect their decision at all times. Q7. Can we have non alcoholic beer? It is uncertain if non-alcoholic beers will be available, but if they, are we would prefer that this is not drunk in case it is perceived to be alcoholic. 6 Q8. What kind of food will it be/ what will it be like? Food will be like you would get from any UK hotels. & Can we get to try the local food? Most probably you will be treated to some local food in your host town, at some point, but you won't be made to eat anything you don't feel happy to eat. Q9. Will we need to move hotels during our time in Abu Dhabi? Yes, you will stay the first few days in the host town which could be anywhere in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and then transfer to your hotel in Abu Dhabi for the duration of the Games. Q10.
