2 Decorative The flawless look is certainly in vogue at the moment. Claims such as pixilate your skin and flawless complexion are more and more prevalent in the high definition world we now live in. We all want to look our best and using decorative cosmetics certainly helps us to do this by hiding blemishes and minor skin imperfections (see Problematic Skin leaflet), dark circles, puffy eyes (see Eye Care leaflet) and by enhancing key features such as the eyes (long, dark lashes/ eyebrow pencils), cheek bones and lips. There is a growing overlap between decorative cosmetics and the skin care sector as seen by the growth of BB, CC creams and so on. More and more foundations are offering anti-wrinkle effects, lipsticks that claim to plump, mascaras to lengthen and build lashes and under eye concealers to reduce puffiness and dark circles. Plus with the ever growing trend of transfer resistant and waterproof make-up, make-up removers really need to work to avoid those panda eyes. 3 Amisol Soft (INCI: Behenyl Alcohol (and) Glyceryl Stearate (and) Lecithin (and) Glycine Soja (Soybean) Sterols) is an optimised blend of Phospholipids, Phytosterols and vegetable Lipids which forms lamellar O/W emulsions for soft applications. 5 Dermofeel sensolv (INCI: Isoamyl Laurate) is a low viscosity polar oil component with excellent solvating power for commonly used UV-filters. Together with its excellent ability to disperse pigments, Dermofeel sensolv is a first choice ingredient for decorative cosmetic products. Compared with other solvating oil components such as, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoates, Dermofeel sensolv has a comparable solvating performance with a far superior sensorial profile. In particular, the spreadability of the formulation often a problem in products containing a high loading of pigments is improved significantly. These properties make Dermofeel sensolv an ideal choice for colour cosmetics where it aids the solubilisation of pigments, improves the gloss, shine and the application of mascara as well removing make-up. Dermofeel sensolv can be used in hot and cold processes. Recommended use level: % Dermofeel viscolid (INCI: Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil) is a natural oil thickener supplied in a powder format with a melting point of approximately 60 o C. It is used to convert liquid oils into soft, creamy textures. The resulting product is an elegant soft oil paste that is easily applied on the skin without smearing or dripping. It can be used in jars or with a pump dispenser. There is no influence on the sensorial profile of the oils which makes it ideal for massage oils. Dermofeel viscolid has been tested with various oils and is compatible with plant oils as well as ester oils, mineral oil and silicones. The liquid phase with the sensorial profile of the oil mixture is used. Recommended use level: 0.5 7% Dermosoft GMCY (INCI: Glyceryl Caprylate). 8 MDI Complex (INCI: Glycosaminoglycans) is a marine Glycosaminoglycan that inhibits the Matrix Metalloproteinase (MMP) enzymes that degrade and destroy the skin s Collagen network. MDI Complex can be used to neutralise excessive MMP activity, leading to a better enzyme equilibrium needed for a natural healthy skin appearance. This equilibrium allows greater skin elasticity and increased resistance to external irritants. MDI Complex reduces the appearance of dark circles, spider veins and Rosacea. The enlargement of pores is caused by Corneocytes retaining their nucleus. This leads to abnormal desquamation and accumulation of cell debris, which cause pores to clog.
