A Note From D Up until my teenage years my mother used to call me her shadow, because I would follow her everywhere especially to the powder room whenever she had to get ready for a night

She s beautiful as she is sans make-up, but the wonderful thing about cosmetics is that it can bring out new confidence and help you express yourself in ways that words cannot.

She looked and felt beautiful and I was always awestruck. That s the power of make-up, I realised.

1 A Note From D Up until my teenage years my mother used to call me her shadow, because I would follow her everywhere especially to the powder room whenever she had to get ready for a night out. My mother always kept her makeup in her white drawers; watching her dress up and put on her make-up was one of my favourite things to do as a little girl. She s beautiful as she is sans make-up, but the wonderful thing about cosmetics is that it can bring out new confidence and help you express yourself in ways that words cannot. It can make you look sweet one day and fierce the next, and that s what fascinated me the most. But no matter the end result, my mother always walked out of the powder room looking stunning. She looked and felt beautiful and I was always awestruck. That s the power of make-up, I realised. That was when my love for cosmetics was born in the powder room, with Mom's white drawers as my witness.
