5 CHAIRMAN S MESSAGE Dear partners and friends, It seems like yesterday and already 30 years have passed by! 30 years of ICC, in absolute parallel with Portugal entering the European Project. It is undeniable that this fact was extremely important for our journey. These are 30 years of company prosperity in a space of free circulation and European citizenship with its roots in values like solidarity, democracy and sustainability. But these are also 30 years of challenges, investigation, innovation, a lot of work, endeavor and perseverance, of all those who collaborated and still collaborate with us workers, distributers, clients, consultants and institutional partners to be what we are today: an industry with technological solutions of professional shoes for a variety of trades. Gratefulness is therefore the most profound feeling that I have to share with all our partners and friends. To all I say Thank you or Danke to recognize your contribution to our success. To all I also say Merci, Gracias or Grazie to thank you for all that you have done for us. But allow me to use the Portuguese word Obrigado because only the Portuguese expression is capable of conveying the most profound level of gratefulness, as described by São Tomás de Aquino - to express our commitment, our bond, our obligation to all of you. Thanks to all of you, we have more knowledge, and we are more than ever capable of responding to the challenges of a digitalized economy and a changing Europe, where the return of the borders are hovering over us All of us have the duty to contribute to the maintenance of the European ideal, but also, in the field of entrepreneurship, to know how to find new horizons. Citing one of the great Portuguese writers, Vergílio Ferreira, who was born in the same day of ICCs constitution, 28 January: There is the desire, which has no limits, and there is what is accomplished, which has limits. Happiness consists in making both coincide. I hope that in 30 years time ICC, constantly reinvented, has yet again the humbleness to express its gratitude in the already mentioned languages, but also feels the need to say, for example, tesekkür ederiz (Turkish), terima kasih (Indonesian). 7 OUR PERMANENT INNOVATION AND DIFFERENTIATION AIM AT YOUR COMPLETE SATISFACTION. The level and complexity of the requirements placed on High Performance Footwear varies according different classes, which means safety footwear is the most demanding of all and is subject to a large set of directives and standards, since it is used to protect the foot from injury caused by falling, shock and sliding of heavy objects, from cuts or contact with harsh environments ( high temperatures, electric fields or chemicals) or adverse environments ( special floors or slippery floors). Safety footwear is used in many sectors, but the target audience is usually the industrial sector i.e. heavy industry, electronics, chemical and food laboratories, agriculture and fisheries, as well as logistics, security forces and civil protection. Professional footwear, in the global and evolutionary context of footwear, has adopted a creative and diversified orientation. It is now an active element in the prevention of accidents and seen as personal protective equipment. Therefore, it is justified that its optimization amplifies the solutions that the market aspires to, mainly combining the ergonomic, biological and mechanical aspects from its design. Safety footwear components, such as the toe capinsole-back counter set, are elements and different factors of the subsector and the introduction of plastic composite materials in the design of the components has resulted in reduced weight and improved product adaptability. Lightness, abrasion resistance, flexing strength, flexibility, elasticity, comfort, ease of processing (such as the easy extraction from the injection sole moulds) and respect for the environment, including the use of recycled and recyclable materials are increasingly sought after requirements. 7

8 SPODOS THE INEVITABLE HAS ARRIVED Today, in the footwear industry, innovation is only successful if you master the laws of podiatry and biomechanics. This is the context that motivated LAVORO to create its own SPODOS, its foot science center, whose role is to provide technical advice during the development of footwear, finding which is best suited to each type of work environment. With a specialized work carried out by highly educated technicians in this area and with the support of national and international partners, SPODOS seeks to deepen the research work of LAVORO and enhance the performance of professional footwear, contributing thus to a general state of good health: a healthy walk, a correct posture throughout the body and a sense of emotional comfort. Go... stiff, firm and secure. With the support of SPODOS, its Foot Science Center, LAVORO produces professional footwear for men or women, more suitable to a variety of business sectors. Electronics, transports, hospitals, construction, mining, agriculture, logistics, metallurgy and even fire departments and militarized forces. Apart from the quality and high levels of safety and security, Lavoro articles do not neglect the health and body posture, favoring therefore the adaptation of the foot to the biomechanical challenges of each profession. BESPOKE SOLUTIONS FOR EVERY FEET People with feet problems being this condition the result of an injury or a disease like arthritis or diabetes both should require professional footwear with higher depth and width. Some may even require prostheses. For others, a custom shoe and made to measure is the most appropriate solution. People suffering from dysmetria / shortening of the lower limbs can also have at Lavoro a partner available to perform the compensation, in the sole or insole, necessary to minimize the impact of this disease. In either case, SPODOS can therefore reference and advise the most suitable solutions. 9 FOOTWEAR SHOULD HAVE GENDER? Of course YES! For LAVORO has become imperative that distinction, because women present morphological characteristics, anatomical and biomechanical different than Men. Because: - Women have smaller feet size; - The Women foot has a narrower ankle against the forefoot than Men; - Generally the distance between the ankle and the ground, is smaller in Women. Knowing these differences, SPODOS Foot Science Center acquired the SPODOS print and SPODOS 3D equipment, so that the design of the last is the most appropriate possible, taking into account the difference between the women and men foot. These equipments are a revolutionary pressures platform that allows the user a quick and easy analysis due to its precise last generation sensors with a higher degree of accuracy. These machines supports the study of the women foot and developing the lasts in the most appropriate way, so that in the end we can develop a special collection for ladies, respecting these conditions. With these supports, in the end, we added to the footwear greater comfort, ergonomics and design, thus providing a more professional performance, reducing a generalized fatigue of the lower limbs or even rejection of the shoe. 9

12 LABS Lavoro, which has been developing innovative processes that are user-centered for 30 years, is a Living Lab for personal protective equipment (PPE), with a special emphasis on professional footwear. To understand the customer s needs in the development of innovative products, Lavoro created, in the late 1980 s, its own quality control laboratory, with internal capacity to perform the most diverse tests (penetration to resistance, impermeability, abrasion resistance, among others), in both raw materials used and their products. Therefore, it has gained autonomy and created conditions to enhance research, development and innovation. 12

CLIMA CORK SYSTEM (CCS) and RESPONSIVE SHOCK ABSORPTION (RSA) are just two examples of the creative ability that favors and distinguishes it in competitive international markets. Through the inclusion of an insulating layer of cork between the sole and the insole, CLIMA CORK SYSTEM regulates the heat and cold inside the shoe and gives extra comfort: it allows the creation of a kind of fingerprint of the foot, favoring its adaptation to the shoe and contributing to the reduction of fatigue, by benefiting the uniform distribution of the weight. RESPONSIVE SHOCK ABSORPTION (RSA) revolutionized shock absorption in shoes. With an open impact zone and extra cushioning, the shoes become more comfortable and the act of walking becomes more pleasant and easy. 13
