Every dancer will receive a wristband. One parent/guardian will receive a wristband for EACH dancer he/she is responsible for. You will hold onto these wristbands until the end of your dancers final performance. You will also be assigned a dressing area. The dressing areas are assigned according to class. Students performing in more than one number will be assigned only one dressing area. ********************************************** IMPORTANT: ********************************************** FOOD & DRINK IS NOT TO BE CONSUMED WHEN STUDENTS ARE IN COSTUME! PLEASE ONLY DRINK WATER. STUDENTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO WEAR DANCE SHOES OUTSIDE. ALL DRESSING AREAS MUST BE CLEANED OUT ONE HOUR FOLLOWING THE REHEARSAL OR PERFORMANCE. ************************************************************************************************************* 2. Tech Rehearsal starts promptly at: Tuesday, May 29 at 5:30pm YOUR ASSIGNED TECH TIME is listed on the Show/Rehearsal Schedule attached. Please arrive in full costume and make-up 30 minutes prior to your scheduled tech time. Tuesday will be our Technical Rehearsal for all students performing on Friday, June 1. This is where we make sure music works correctly, dancers are wearing all the pieces and parts to their costumes correctly, and other technicalities. We have the dancers mark the spacing of their dance, dance it full-out and go over any last details that are necessary before the performance. This process will only take about 15min per class. Please arrive early enough to settle in and warm up on your own. Proper warm-up prevents injuries. We will not wait for dancers. If you are late or miss Tech Rehearsal, you will not perform. 3. Dress Rehearsal starts promptly at: Thursday, May 31 at 5:00pm

Dress Rehearsal is the LAST REHEARSAL BEFORE THE SHOW and will run as if it was actually the show. This means students are required to be in full costume, as well as full make-up and hair. This time is necessary so dancers, parents and teachers are on the same page regarding managing protocols and emergency protocol. Again, there will not be a group warm-up so please arrive early enough to settle in and warm up on your own. Proper warm-up prevents injuries. We will not wait for anyone to run the numbers, please be on time and know where you are supposed to be. All students are expected to remain for the Grand Finale run-through at the end of Dress Rehearsal. Be backstage in the Student Hallway with the last class you performed with before the last number. This year we will be announcing each dance to come onto the stage to bow. We will also be going over how the finale will run on Friday before the show. Parents, Family & Friends are welcome to remain in the Visitor s Lounge during the rehearsal. Remember, water only in the studios and student hallway and no talking during the run through, please. 4. Costumes Dancers are to be in full-costume for both the Tech and Dress Rehearsal. Costumes are to be ironed or steamed and should not be worn prior to rehearsal. Dress code shoes are required for all performers. Please clean as much as possible. With the exception of Tech and Dress Rehearsals, students are not to wear their new tights or costumes prior to the performance! ********************************************** IMPORTANT: ********************************************** STUDENTS ARE TO TRAVEL TO AND FROM THE STUDIO IN STREET CLOTHES AND NOT IN COSTUME DANCERS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO WEAR JEWELRY OR NAIL POLISH ON STAGE (unless earrings are specified as a part of the costume) FEMALE DANCERS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO WEAR UNDERWEAR WITH COSTUMES. (Please wear tights only under costumes) ************************************************************************************************************* 6. You are allowed to video tape during Tech or Dress rehearsal. Please only video tape your child s dance and do not obstruct the view of others. We will have professional video cameras in place to film the show. The entire performance will be filmed with full view scans of each dance. Order forms will be available at the front desk the day of the performance. 5. Class Photos A photographer will be present at each Tech Rehearsal. After students have finished rehearsing their number, they will immediately be directed to the designated photo area for a group photo in full costume, hair and make-up. A photographer will be taking photos throughout Dress Rehearsal. Parents are permitted to take photos and videos at this time. CAMERAS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED DURING THE ACTUAL PERFORMANCE.

Note: We have added an extra show per night to allow for a larger audience. The exact same show will run twice on Friday evening, with the exception of Mini Creative Movement dancers who will ONLY perform in the 6:00pm showcase. 5:00pm: Arrive 1. On Friday please arrive at 5:00pm. Please arrive with hair and make-up complete. Allow time for changing and warming up, as well as hair and make-up touch ups. **Mini and Primary students, please do not arrive more than one hour prior to your show time. 2. Upon arrival, one adult and the dancer should proceed to check-in at the front door. Guests may wait in the Enrichment Boutique. At check-in, the student and adult will show the volunteer their wristbands with the student s information. PLEASE RETURN BOTH WRISTBANDS AFTER YOUR FINAL PERFORMANCE. **Intermediate and Vocational students may sign-in without an adult. 3. A volunteer will remain at each entrance to the Student Hallway throughout the performance. If a parent needs to get in contact with their dancer, the volunteer will notify the student or instructor. 6:00 & 7:30pm: Show Starts Instructions for SHOW DAY 4. During the show, NO teen/adult will be allowed backstage unless they are volunteering and have a volunteer badge. 3. During your show, if you are not performing or volunteering, the only places you may be are your assigned dressing room or the student hallway. Students will not be allowed to hang out outside the building or in the Enrichment Boutique. NO EXCEPTIONS! **Mini students will remain with their assigned adult in the staff lounge throughout the performance. 4. Be familiar with the order of the show. The order will be posted outside the stage door. As each number enters, they will be crossed off. You need to be waiting outside the door two numbers before your dance. For younger classes, a volunteer will notify students when it is time to get in line. DO NOT OPEN THE STAGE DOOR! The door will be open when we are ready for you. If you are not ready and in the right place the number will run without you! Please be responsible! We will only have one number backstage at a time. This will be explained at the tech rehearsal Tuesday evening. We are aware if you have a quick change and will wait for you in this instance. 5. Please refrain from yelling or cheering during the dances at each bow it is appropriate. Each child s dance will be announced before they come out for their Grand Finale bow.

6:30 & 8:00pm: Show Ends 6. At the end of the Grand Finale, dancers can be picked up directly from the stage following the Finale. Once dancers have taken pictures with friends and families, dancers will return to the Student Hallway to prepare for the 7:30pm Showcase. ALL DANCERS MUST RETURN TO THE STUDENT HALLWAY BY 7:00PM AFTER THE FIRST SHOW. **Note: Minis will ONLY PERFORM in the 6:00pm Showcase and are free to leave after they have been properly signed out, following Grand Finale. Following the end of the second performance, dancers may return to the Student Hallway to collect their belongings, emptying out their lockers and assigned changing area. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE FACILITY WITHOUT CHECKING-OUT WITH A VOLUNTEER. Once a volunteer has received the dancer s wristband and the parent s coinciding wristband, you are free to go! 7. 7 Instructions for Hair and Make-Up Boys Speak to instructor and read costume costume tags for specification. Girls Hair: Hair style requirements will be specified by your instructor. Please see your costume tag. Note: It is easiest to manage hair that is damp and has gel worked through it before trying to secure back into a bun. Never try to put dry hair up in a bun -- especially with children with fine hair. Whether trying to secure bangs back or putting up to a pony tail or braids, always work with dampened hair that has a sticky gel worked through before combing back. Click Here to learn how to make a Basic Ballet Bun! Or visit: 1. Bangs off the face: ALL STUDENTS MUST HAVE BANGS OFF THE FACE, regardless of the hairstyle. This is very important onstage and will require that you use the damp hair / wet gel method described above for short or long hair to get the bangs back. Bobby pins may be necessary; however, if the hair is wet and gel applied, it will help to keep it sufficiently off the forehead. The balance of hair that is down does not need the same application and may hang loosely. 2. Hair in a Bun: On very damp hair thoroughly apply a thick gel to slick the hair and make it workable. After applying gel and with hair still damp, brush back and up and secure with hair elastic into a ponytail at the back crown of the head. Sometimes the instructor will ask for a low bun down and at the nape of the neck, however, commonly one wants to see the bun top when looking directly at the dancer. Then, depending upon the length of the hair, twist in a circle around the elastic and secure all loose ends with bobby pins until there are no loose or unsecured areas of the bun. You may need more bobby pins for areas above ears or at the nape of the neck. Apply the headpiece or hat as instructed by the teacher. 3. THE SECRET: Work on very damp hair that is wet with gel. Then, let the hair dry after it has been put into the bun. Hairspray may be necessary even if enough gel has been applied. 4. Hair half up and half down: Use the same method as above for the forward part of the hair that will be pulled up into the ponytail ONLY. Most of the time, the hair is just pulled in the ponytail and hangs with a ribbon or headpiece secured as instructed. Let all loose hair hang without gel applied so it will look natural. You may use light hairspray if necessary. 5. Ponytail: On very damp hair thoroughly apply a thick gel to slick the hair and make it workable. After applying gel and with hair still damp, brush back and up and secure with a hair elastic into a ponytail at the back crown of the head. Sometimes the instructor will ask for a low ponytail down and at the nape of the neck. Side ponytails should be on the crown of the head on the specified side.

6. Braids: On very damp hair thoroughly apply a thick gel to slick the hair and make it workable. After applying gel and with hair still damp, brush back and up and into braid. There may be a single braid, double braids or French braids requested. Any questions regarding the method or style of hair required for your piece, please ask your instructor. The main points to remember: Hair off of face - a must No loose strands of hair around face or in front of ears Work with damp hair, gel, and hairspray! Make-Up: Make-Up requirements will be specified by your instructor. Makeup may be applied at your discretion for children under age 12, however, under the bright lights, facial features wash out and make-up helps the audience to see the dancer's faces more clearly. Good stage make-up will look very exaggerated, dramatic and bold. We suggest: 1. Base: Foundation is not necessary for children under 12, however, if you use it yourself and are comfortable applying a light cover, you may. Just be careful when putting a costume on, as it is easy to soil it with foundation, etc. FOR ALL TEENS/ADULTS: Please apply a light toned foundation as a base for your make-up. Use hypo- allergenic if necessary. Base is necessary for mature students to even out the skin tone on the face and keep the rest of the make-up in place. Apply only on full face down to but not including the neck area. Let dry thoroughly before proceeding. 2. Eye Shadow: Use light colored eye shadow only. Dark colors make eyes disappear. Colors are not necessary, however, pale pastel colors in any shade will do: For example, nude to white, very light green/blue/lilac. For older students, please apply a brown accent at the crease of eye, however be careful for dark shades on lids or up to area under brow are inappropriate. A light highlight shadow from eyelid to eyebrow is desirable. 3. Eyeliner: Please use a dark brown/black pencil liner along lower lid of eye just below where the lashes grow on lower lid, just above lashes on upper lid. If the child is too young to handle this application, you may omit it. For all children age 6-older, please be certain to have eyes lined. 4. Eyebrow Pencil: Please use a medium brown pencil for eyebrows only if the hair color is very light and looking directly at the face of the dancer the eyebrow is not clearly defined. If eyebrows are dark enough naturally, no pencil is necessary. 5. Mascara: Please apply thick layer of heavy black mascara to upper and lower lids, however, this may not be tolerated by very young students and you may get by with just liner. TEEN/ADULT STUDENTS are welcome to apply false eyelashes for maximum effect on stage. Simply buy thick black lashes with adhesive, trim to fit and follow instructions. It is best to practice before the day of the show.

6. Blush: Apply rose or coral blush to hollow of check only - NOT over the cheekbone itself: Have dancer suck in cheeks and apply blush to area of the check that concaves. Enough blush should be applied to bring color to shadowed soft part of the cheek leaving the area over the cheekbone light and not colored at all. 7. Lipstick: A dark red or pink shade is recommended unless otherwise specified by instructor. PLEASE APPLY LIPSTICK AFTER CHANGING INTO COSTUME.
