2 The Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals Welcomes You to the 23rd Annual Convention and Trade Show Atlanta Marriott Buckhead Atlanta, Georgia The Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals (SPCP) is the largest nonprofit organization for the permanent cosmetic industry that is owned, operated, and controlled by its domestic and international members since its inception in The SPCP provides industry certification, distributes the SPCP Quarterly, maintains an annual online membership directory, provides educational events and materials, and actively supports fair industry legislation. The Society has a large internet and social media presence ( as a resource for technicians and a referral source for the general public and the media. The SPCP hosts an annual convention and trade show and provides additional educational opportunities throughout the year, including Bloodborne Pathogens Standard classes provided by an OSHA outreach instructor, Train the Trainer classes (a required program for trainer members who meet and commit to the high SPCP training standards), as well as Fall Conferences. The SPCP provides a highly regarded industry certification program (CPCP) with testing available at SPCP events and similar gatherings. Only members have the opportunity to attend SPCP conventions and conferences, use SPCP registered images, and purchase valuable business resources such as client brochures, educational books and videos, and forms for use in their business. While a required class for those with a goal to become SPCP trainer members, this program is also required regularly for certified trainer members as a review. Attendees have the opportunity to network with one another and to speak on particular subjects to enrich the program with new ideas. This exchange of ideas casts the seeds of new educational concepts and program development. Attendees of this class must be CPCP certified or scheduled to take their certification exam during the convention. Please refer to the SPCP website for other trainer member requirements or contact the office for an application packet. Attending this class does not qualify the attendee as an SPCP trainer member; additional requirements must be met. Friday, April 4, :30 a.m. 1:00 p.m. Bloodborne Pathogens Standard Class This is by far the most comprehensive, industry specific bloodborne pathogens program available for permanent cosmetic professionals. The OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard will be covered, with an emphasis on needle stick guidelines, Hepatitis B and C, information on MRSA, exposure control plan requirements, recordkeeping, and the latest interpretation covering these topics as they relate to the body modification industry. This class is a requirement for the CPCP exam and renewal, and may be purchased separately for non-convention attendees. David Vidra, LPN Having been involved in the piercing industry for over twenty-five years, David was the founder of Cleveland s first piercing studio, Body Work Productions. His current company, Health Educators, provides up-todate information and educational solutions for the body modification and related industries. David is a worldwide consultant for the private sector, governmental agencies, and regulators. A past SPCP Industry Leader Award recipient, he is currently the Health & Safety Advisor for the SPCP. David has also served on the SPCP Board of Directors.

Dr. Tom Spetalnick will discuss different options available in the field of refractive surgery and how that relates to our eyeliner clients. How long should we wait for an ophthalmic procedure to heal, such as cataract surgery or Lasik? A brief summary will be presented on diseases of the eye, along with what to avoid, and when a medical referral may be needed before or after a procedure. Tom Spetalnick, OD Dr. Spetalnick was educated at the University of Georgia and then at the University of Alabama-Birmingham School of Optometry. He frequently participates in refractive surgery conferences and seminars, and serves as a preceptor for optometrists training at Woolfson Eye Institute. Dr. Spetalnick has served as the President of the Greater Atlanta Optometric Association, as well as the President of the Georgia Optometric Association, (GOA) and he was voted Georgia Optometrist of the Year by the GOA in Dr. Spetalnick believes that informing patients very clearly of the risks and benefits of elective eye surgery is his most critical role, and instills in his students the importance of excellent patient communication.

This highly anticipated presentation by Mary Ritcherson will reveal the ins and outs of skin needling, from the history behind this advanced technique to those who can benefit from these procedures. Mary Ritcherson Mary has worked in the medical and beauty industry for over eighteen years as a state licensed Facial & Skin Care Specialist (esthetician), and is currently affiliated with area plastic surgeons and dermatologists, as well as medical spas. She was introduced to permanent cosmetics by a local plastic surgeon, and after training in 2004 she has perfected her permanent cosmetic techniques to the point where she is often booked up almost six months in advance. An appropriate skin analysis will address a client s skin concerns without causing trauma or creating unnecessary inflammation. Today due to the increasing numbers of people with mixed hereditary backgrounds, coloring their hair, wearing colored contacts, and tanning either via topical products or UV exposure, it is increasingly difficult to determine a client s heritage based solely on appearance. The Global Heritage Model is the answer to these increasing changes. Traci Daly Traci Daly has over nineteen years experience within the spa industry. She is a licensed esthetician, esthetician instructor, and massage therapist. He is co-director of the internationally acclaimed Atlanta Breast Symposium where physicians from all over the world come to learn about the latest innovations in breast reconstruction. There have been great advances in the past few years with the two most common types of tissue flap reconstruction, the TRAM flap, and the latissimus dorsi flap. Namnoum, MD A graduate of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Dr. Namnoum completed his residencies at Johns Hopkins Hospital followed by a Fellowship in breast surgery with Carl Hartrampf, M.D., a pioneer in breast reconstruction and Co-Founder of Atlanta Plastic Surgery. Dr. Namnoum is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of numerous societies. He also teaches as an Assistant Clinical Professor at Emory University. Dr. Namnoum serves as a board member on the Allergan Breast Aesthetics Executive Council, conducting studies to refine technology for women undergoing cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery.

Phillipa Crichton, CPCP Philippa has been involved in the beauty, health, and skincare industry since 1985, when she qualified as a skincare therapist with CIBTAC and CIDESCO diplomas from the London Institute of Beauty Culture in England. She started her permanent cosmetics career in 1990 and has studied in the UK, Hong Kong, Germany, and the USA. Philippa is a highly regarded and wellknown educator and SPCP trainer member. Convention attendance fees include all lectures from Saturday through Monday, entry to vendor exhibits, three continental breakfasts, Saturday evening cash bar reception, and the Annual Members Meeting and Luncheon. Non-members may join the SPCP to attend the convention for the annual membership fee of $ This fee provides full benefits of membership, including the SPCP Quarterly and access to all SPCP products. All fees are payable at the time of registration. SPCP membership must be current to attend. Guest packages allow entry to the Saturday evening reception and continental breakfasts. The Monday Luncheon is extra. Guests are allowed in the Vendor Room and Vendor Presentation room; however, they are NOT permitted into any Sunday and Monday lecture rooms without paying the full convention fee. 11 Travel Information Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport serves many airlines, most with direct flights. Check with your travel agent or carrier for rates soon, as this is a favorite travel time and it is still spring break for many. Hotel shuttle service is available on the Purple Isle outside in the Ground Transportation Center, located at the west end of the domestic terminals building (west curb). The west curb is located outside between the Domestic North and South Terminals. To reserve in advance, you can contact Atlanta Airport Shuttle, , $20/one way, $37/round trip. Taxi fare is approximately $40.00 each way. Roommate Requests If you would like the SPCP to help you find a roommate for the Convention, you must fill out the Roommate Request Form and return it with your registration as soon as possible or if you are registering online, please write in the notes that you need a roommate and what your check in and check out dates are. It is hard to find roommates as the convention nears. Remember March 21st, 2014 is the deadline for the SPCP room rates it is better to cancel a reservation if you find a roommate than to be without a room altogether! Important Regulations No videotaping, photography or any type or recording is permitted during lectures. All cell phones and pagers must be turned off or set to vibrate; text messaging is not permitted. Computers, tablets or other such devices cannot be on during lectures as it is very distracting. In consideration of our paid vendors, there is to be no sales or promotion of products or services outside the vendor room. No procedures of any kind may be conducted anywhere within the hotel before or during the convention dates. A name badge is required for admittance to all functions. Loss of your badge will result in a $10.00 replacement charge. Please help us eliminate the embarrassment of having to remove non-paying friends or relatives accompanying you to the lectures. Badges will be checked. You may also go green by using badge holders from previous SPCP events. An evaluation form is provided at each class. For attendees to obtain credit hours, the evaluation form needs to be turned in immediately after each class. If you arrive fifteen minutes late for a lecture or leave before a lecture is completed, you cannot receive continuing education credits for that particular lecture.
