The variety in thoughts, concepts and creative ideas show an immerse cradle of inspiration and visualization of contemporary and future trends. The final projects touches upon Kendo and Kholstomer, Amanda Lepore and the Atlantic Ocean, but they also question consumerism and explore gender tolerance. The students have been selected for their ability and knowledge in turning their creative ideas and concepts into garment creation. But also for their skilful tailoring with focus on seamless effort in the process of design, pattern making and sewing. They have created their final projects with a solid foundation in education, centered on all facets of the design process, technical craftsmanship, the power of research and sensible commercial understanding. Our graduates step into the world of fashion with a full understanding of the industry s needs, and it is crucial to us that they understand the dynamics of the fast paced industry they will come to operate in. The VIA Design environment vibrates with art and creativity, with figures and theories and with vision and growth. In other words: With design and business. This is what you will experience today at the VIA Design. Enjoy every detail! INGRID SØE Director of Education & Research VIA Design
6 7 VIA University College ANNA TALVI E: annatalvi@hotmail.com T: SNAEDIS SIGURDARDOTTIR E:snaedis93@hotmail.co.uk T: This collection is questioning the McDonalds-ized fast fashion system through a sartorial perspective. The inspiration for this collection - a story of a horse Kholstomer by Lev Tolstoy - questions the commonly accepted conventions through an equine perspective. The considerations of tailoring were drafted into the garments in collaboration with a fellow pattern design student Chantal Beck. Print design is the main focus of this collection. The prints are inspired by human anatomy, and the garments were designed post print-design. The result is a collection, which turns a gory subject of the human anatomy into elegant print-based styles. Trine Kjergård Kristensen David van Westrienen
8 9 VIA University College MATHILDE MØ BADSTUE E: mmbadstue@gmail.com T: MAIBRIT VANG PEDERSEN E: maibritvang@outlook.com T: Dystopia is the fundamental element in the universe of this collection. It is a dramatic universe where it s all about survival of the fittest. I have worked with both avant-garde and slow fashion, and taken inspiration from different cultures like nomads and urban street. This adds attitude, masculinity and expression to the dystopian universe of the collection. Nis Jeyenthiran The muse of the collection is New York s plastic queen Amanda Lepore. She sets the (no) limits of the collection and is widely seen in the kitsch placement print, all over print and other abstract elements. Huge red lips are the main attraction in this fierce and fun collection, which is otherwise filled with colours, humour and playful elements. Anders Trærup
10 11 VIA University College KERSTIN SIMON E: T: CATHRINE MARIE POULSEN E: T: The unisex collection 2035 is based on the concept art and character design of a future scenario. The story of 2035 takes place in a metropolis where privacy and personal freedom belong to the forgotten past. The collection is made by the use of high tech materials and expressive colors to support the aggressive, complex theme of the story. Solid, sharp shapes and flowing drapes are in a constant opponent to balance between femininity and masculinity The collection is inspired by the struggles regarding growing up in the late modern society, and it encourages the wearer to forget the fear of failure and be their own destiny - otherwise they will become a piece of tamed nature. The collection visualizes experience in life as layers on the styles. Stripes symbolize the feeling of being trapped in your own body. The chinchilla print illustrates a piece of tamed nature, while the green colour is a symbol of hope for the future. Finally the design of the buttons reflects the omnipresent, contrasting modern generation. Alexander Höllsberg
12 13 VIA University College ALEXANDRA MIA FRANKØ E: T: MAIKEN BILLE E: T: The collection is a high-end men s wear collection inspired by the era of Denmark as a colonial force in the West Indies and contains strong references from military uniforms and colonial export goods. Oh, Those Exotic Danes is the title of the collection, and it questions our urge to explore unknown elements while still having a desire to stay true to our traditions. The collection is made primarily of leather from ECCO, impala fur and fish leather. An indescribably fascinating world of hot springs, glaciers and volcanoes delivers inspiration for this collection entitled A Crevasse AW16. Furthermore the fjords and the powerful Atlantic Ocean, that smashes against the hard cliffs and washes ashore on black lava beaches, have been inspirational elements. Anna Kristin Arnardottir Martin Laugesen
14 15 VIA University College LILLA PÁPAI E: T: MELISSA BREDVIG E: T: This collection is titled Wear Your Heart on Your Sleeve (WYHOYS). The collection addresses environmental issues both metaphorically as well as graphically. The designs have been made in organic, handmade felt and marbled materials. All of the fabrics used (except silicone) are GOTS approved. Moreover the design graphically showcases damages of oil spills in nature and wildlife. David Ajkai 18 words describe the universe, process and diversity of the collection: Depth, character, intensity, tenderness, contrasts, clean, powerful, fireworks, party, electronic, calm, relaxed, dream, grace, aggression, anger, sharpness and coolness. The 18 keywords have been drawn from analysis of my personal Spotify playlist and general trend material. When listening to music shapes were brought to life and used in silhouettes, applications and colours. The sources of inspiration have made the collection both personal and powerfull. Christoffer Bløndal Bengtsson
16 17 VIA University College SARA DIAMANT E: SIGNE DAHL SØRENSEN E: T: The title of this collection is Tyrone. It is a men s wear collection inspired from an Oakland subculture, called The original scraper bike team. It is a playful sporty collection with strong bright colours, energetic multicolour print and unique fabric combinations with a twist of femininity. In addition to that you find both multifunctional details as well as decorative details. Give it your own personal touch by mixing and matching the styles. Julie Ehrhorn I embarked on a journey of play and toys without a predetermined product in mind for the inspiration of this collection. Shapes and nuances have been found in the concept of play and toy-animals. A joy of tactile materials have been discovered through play and the line on my drawings, drapes, work with colours, lines, material surfaces, knits and prints all invite you to play. Christian Depion Arnfred Larsen
