The variety in thoughts, concepts and creative ideas show an immerse cradle of inspiration and visualization of contemporary and future trends. The final projects touches upon Kendo and Kholstomer, Amanda Lepore and the Atlantic Ocean, but they also question consumerism and explore gender tolerance. They have created their final projects with a solid foundation in education, centered on all facets of the design process, technical craftsmanship, the power of research and sensible commercial understanding. Our graduates step into the world of fashion with a full understanding of the industry s needs, and it is crucial to us that they understand the dynamics of the fast paced industry they will come to operate in. The students have been selected for their ability and knowledge in turning their creative ideas and concepts into garment creation. But also for their skilful tailoring with focus on seamless effort in the process of design, pattern making and sewing. The VIA Design environment vibrates with art and creativity, with figures and theories and with vision and growth. In other words: With design and business. 4 6 7 VIA University College SIGNE DAHL SØRENSEN E: signelechatblaa@hotmail.com T: SIGNE ELGAARD CHRISTIANSEN E: signe-elgaard@hotmail.com T: I embarked on a journey of play and toys without a predetermined product in mind for the inspiration of this collection. Shapes and nuances have been found in the concept of play and toy-animals. A joy of tactile materials have been discovered through play and the line on my drawings, drapes, work with colours, lines, material surfaces, knits and prints all invite you to play. The concept of contradictions is the key inspiration behind the collection. My vision has been to create a collection based on contradictions through material manipulation and design details. The result is a collection that offers heat-treated knit garments cut with clean edges, innovative materials and a strong and minimalistic feel. Christian Depion Arnfred Larsen

The man goes through different stages during his journey to a new, unsecure life in darkness. The mood of the stages and situations is the influence of the created garments in the collection. These inspirations have been drafted into tailored garments in collaboration with fellow student and pattern designer Evelin Alas. The Japanese martial art kendo has been a two-sided inspiration for this collection. The uniform itself has delivered visual inspiration, but also the inward discipline of kendo has inspired me to discover my own inner mystic. 6 10 11 VIA University College ANNA TALVI E: T: IDA AMBY NØRGAARD E: T: This collection is questioning the McDonalds-ized fast fashion system through a sartorial perspective. The inspiration for this collection - a story of a horse Kholstomer by Lev Tolstoy - questions the commonly accepted conventions through an equine perspective. The considerations of tailoring were drafted into the garments in collaboration with a fellow pattern design student Chantal Beck. David van Westrienen Changing the general view of what functional clothing can be has been the overall idea behind this collection. The main focus has been to create designs with a reconstructed mind set, focusing on functional details, experimental fabrics and a feminine silhouette. The collection is furthermore built on a sustainable concept that focuses on separate pieces you can mix and match to create a more long lasting, individual expression. Sussi C. Alminde

7 12 13 VIA University College SANDRA PEDERSEN E: T: DIDDE MARIA BRORSEN E: T: The collection titled Sedgewick Avenue AW16 is a high-end women s wear collection inspired by a clash between modern Scandinavian minimalism and the colourful and vibrant fashion of hip hop. The silhouettes are inspired by the loose fit from hip hop styles, meanwhile the textiles like high quality fabrics such as silk, wool and suede represent the sophisticated, clean and Scandinavian approach. Martin Rasmus Laugesen The inspiration for this collection is exploring the unknown and the continent of Antarctica. Its amazing scenery and wildlife served as inspiration for both materials and colours. The feeling of the cold air that pinches your skin and the freely moving Antarctica animals has in particular been inspirational elements. Andreas Bach

8 14 15 VIA University College MISCHA TOFTGAARD E: T: MAJA DALGAARD E: T: The collection Slow luxury focuses on high quality, design values, craftsmanship and sustainability. These values stand in opposition to the throw-away-consumerism. The materials are fibres from nature and animals, like wool, fur and leather, and the purpose of the design is that you can have it for several years. Making the collection Slow luxury a small contribution to achieving a healthier fashion world. Andreas Bach This collection takes its starting point from original Japanese deconstructive fashion, which is added a Nordic feeling. Challenging and experimental structural shapes and material create a ground for innovative and modern tailoring. Inspiration comes from raw architecture, which is visualized into innovative materials and construction, where two-piece construction is the basic element. Christina Reuter

9 16 17 VIA University College CAMILLA KORSGAARD HANSEN E: T: SARA VESTERAGER MADSEN E: T: The collection is based on an abstract approach to masculinity and femininity. Masculinity is seen in angular shapes and sharp folds and femininity in more voluminous folds and natural flow. The collection celebrates both the differences in men and women while simultaneously uniting them. See the collection as a scale from masculine to feminine, on which men and women can decide for themselves what their true self is. Trine Kjergård Kristensen The Delic Psych AW16 collection finds its inspiration in the work methods used within surrealism, interpretation of dreams and the way in which we use our sub-consciousness to find answers to speculations about the present and the future. I have, in the collection, worked with the thought of how storytelling is able to help each individual achieve self-realization. The wearer of the garments add story to their identity formation, and it becomes one of the many stories, we tell about ourselves in the interaction of different social arenas. 10 18 19 VIA University College MICHELLE BATELAAN E: T: SARA DIAMANT E: The collection is titled Subtle disruptions 1.0. It creates maximum effect through fewest and simplest elements offering a collection that challenges the traditional collection. Through the balance between renewal and longevity it achieves an aesthetic design that is worth loving for several seasons. Wyatt Kahn s canvas works, 60 s spatial movement and Zaha Hadid s fluid form architecture inspire the collection. This is reflected in the irregular idiom, layering and slash/fold details that experience the interplay between two and three dimensions. The title of this collection is Tyrone. It is a men s wear collection inspired from an Oakland subculture, called The original scraper bike team. It is a playful sporty collection with strong bright colours, energetic multicolour print and unique fabric combinations with a twist of femininity. In addition to that you find both multifunctional details as well as decorative details. Give it your own personal touch by mixing and matching the styles. Julie Ehrhorn Martin Laugesen

11 20 21 VIA University College TINE THING E: T: LILLA PÁPAI E: T: With a solid base in ancient Asian philosophy and modern psychology, I present a collection, which challenges the balance between control and spontaneity. Titled The textile exploration this is a collection consisting of contrasting silhouettes. This comes through in luxury qualities in a new context and clean edgy styles in sparkles of colour wrapped in neutrals. Behind the scenes, the creative process of the collection can be described as a journey through foreign wilderness. This collection is titled Wear Your Heart on Your Sleeve (WYHOYS). The collection addresses environmental issues both metaphorically as well as graphically. The designs have been made in organic, handmade felt and marbled materials. All of the fabrics used (except silicone) are GOTS approved. Moreover the design graphically showcases damages of oil spills in nature and wildlife. David Ajkai
