4 PREP + SETUP CLIENT CONSULTATION You should always schedule a consultation with a client before quoting a price. Make sure your clients goals and expectations are reasonable. Questions to discuss with client: What is the goal for their hair? What length are they looking for? What type of activities do they do on a daily basis? How often do they wash their hair? Advise every client to keep their hair dry for 48 hours following application. After the consultation, it will be determined how many packs of Platinum Seamless Hair Extensions are needed to complete the desired look. One or two packages of hair will be a full head on 80% of clients. To blend asymmetrical cuts, bobs or to add extreme length, more hair may be needed. For volume, color accents, and/or bangs, less than one pack may be sufficient. A Consultation Agreement/ Waiver will be sent with every package of Platinum Seamless Hair Extensions. TOOLS The following tools will be needed to perform a Platinum Seamless Hair Extension application: Platinum Seamless Hair Extensions Platinum Seamless Prepare & Clarify Shampoo Platinum Seamless BoarLoop Brush Rat-Tail Comb & Clips COLOR MATCHING Platinum Seamless innovative dual-level color system provides a perfect match from root to end, creating an invisible bond. Extensions are available in levels 1-12 and come in solid, blended, highlighted, ombré, and fashion shades. Color match from mid-shaft to ends on clean, dry hair. It is important extensions blend with client s hair to ensure results look natural. Two or more colors can be used to create a perfect blended match. Blending colors that are slightly lighter or darker will add more depth and dimension. When matching Platinum Seamless from mid-shaft to ends, ensure natural light is present. Use the Platinum Seamless Color Ring for accurate matches. Please be aware that this product is human hair which is colored and assembled by hand, therefore there may be slight variations. 03

6 PREPARATION + APPLICATION TIPS CLARIFY + DRY For best results, use Platinum Seamless Prepare + Clarify Shampoo to clarify the hair before extension application. Shampoo 2-3 times or as many times as needed, concentrating on the scalp area, to remove all oil, residue, and/or product. Blow dry the hair 100% APPLICATION Platinum Seamless has 10 patented methods of attachment, allowing for fullycustomizable solutions for every client Choosing the best method of attachment based on hair type, texture and lifestyle will ensure every client receives seamless, damage-free results every time. The two most popular methods of attachment are: The Basic Sandwich and The Invisible Sandwich , 14-16, in 1.5 attachments in 3 attachments PREPARATION: It is vital that the hair and any tools used are free of all oils and residue. The attachments can easily be cut in half to make custom sized pieces. Be sure to cut from the top (not from the bottom) of attachment to reduce any possible shedding. Pay attention to where the client parts their hair, where it parts naturally, and any cowlicks. Partings must be crisp and clean. Use a clean metal rat-tail comb and firm clips. PLACEMENT TIPS: Occipital Bone: The Occipital Bone is an important part of the first step in a Platinum Seamless application. The Occipital Bone is the bone located at the rear of the cranium; just above where the head meets the neck. In order for clients to have a comfortable ponytail, attachments below the Occipital Bone must be left out. Visualize the finished product in your mind before beginning. Work your way from the Occipital Bone upward (if client wears their hair up). Do not go too close to the hairline on the sides of the face (particularly with the first attachment above the ear). Place the extensions further from the hairline if client pulls their hair back frequently. Make sure no natural hair is pulling when moving the attachments. Do not go too wide across the back of the head. 05

7 APPLICATION: FULL HEAD If client is looking for both additional length and added volume, they will need a full-head application. Begin just above the Occipital Bone by building rows from the bottom-up, not too close to the hairline. Apply extensions approximately 1 above each other using a brick lay pattern. Apply 2 layers upward on the back of head (depending on the size and shape of client s head). Begin the next row on the right side of the head, above and toward the back of the ear. Pull hair back from the face and behind the ear while applying to ensure proper placement. The first side attachment should be placed approximately 1 above the ear. Alternate application between the back and side rows. Continue this pattern filling the right, left, and the middle. Be sure you leave enough natural hair on top of the client s head to cover the top layer of extensions. OCCIPITAL BONE BRICK LAY PATTERN BRICK LAY APPLICATION SIDE APPLICATION ILLUSTRATIONS REPRESENT 3 ATTACHMENTS, 1.5 ATTACHMENTS WOULD FOLLOW A SIMILAR PATTERN. USE PROFESSIONAL JUDGMENT WHEN APPLYING PLATINUM SEAMLESS ATTACHMENTS, EXTENSION PLACEMENT SHOULD BE CUSTOMIZED BASED ON EACH CLIENT S HEAD SHAPE AND SIZE. APPLICATION: VOLUME If client has thin hair and they want fuller hair, they will need volume application. A typical client will use one or two sandwich(s) on each side of the head and one or two sandwich(s) on the back of the head. Use your professional judgment when deciding placement and how many extensions will be needed to get the desired result. APPLICATION: COLOR ACCENTS If client is looking for highlights/ lowlights or some fashion color pieces, they will need color accents application. Color accents should be placed dependent upon hair condition and desired look. 06

8 APPLICATION METHODS THE SEAMLESS METHODS OF APPLICATION 01 APPLICATION METHOD 1: THE BASIC SANDWICH The Basic Sandwich is the most popular application method. Note, this method should not be used on extremely fragile/fine hair. 01. Apply single extension below part. Press lightly with fingers allowing natural hair to stick to attachment. 02. Lift and clip making sure the attachment is flexible and comfortable. 03. Clean off excess hair that isn t attached to adhesive. 04. Apply a second extension matching end to end. 05. Press firmly together from center-outwards. (<-->) 02 APPLICATION METHOD 2: THE INVISIBLE SANDWICH The Invisible Sandwich is used to provide a perfect match from root to ends as well as to add additional support. By covering the adhesive with natural hair, the attachment becomes completely invisible. Note, this method should not be used on extremely fragile hair. This method may be used for bangs application and/or anywhere attachments may be easily seen (such as the top layers). 01. Apply single extension below part. Press lightly with fingers allowing natural hair to stick to attachment. 02. Lift and clip making sure the attachment is flexible and comfortable. 03. Clean off excess hair that isn t attached to adhesive. 04. Apply a second extension matching end to end. 05. Press firmly together from center-outwards. (<-->) 06. Remove tape liner. 07. Apply Double- Sided Adhesive to top of attachment facing out. 08. Cover exposed adhesive with approximately 1 of natural hair from above. Press hair firmly onto exposed adhesive using the end of a rat-tail comb. Be sure exposed adhesive is completely covered with natural hair. 09. Press firmly together from center-outwards. (<-->) APPLICATION TIP: Platinum Seamless Liquid Adhesive may be applied (sparingly) to any method when extra hold is needed. Extra hold may be needed if client has oily hair or sweats excessively. 07

9 CUTTING & BLENDING CUTTING + BLENDING It is important extensions blend with natural hair, to ensure a seamless and natural finish. BLENDING The best way to blend extensions with natural hair is by choosing the right color and texture. Platinum Seamless offers over 50 multi-colored shades in straight and body wave textures as well as several lengths. CUTTING Cutting extensions in long layers will remove the weight line. A blunt cut may leave hair extensions looking heavy or unnatural. Creating texture in the hair and relieving weight by layering will result in soft and natural movement in the hair. POSSIBLE TECHNIQUE Start by cutting your length in a deep point cut. After creating the length, you may start layering hair. Be mindful of your perimeter when creating your layers and continue to use a deep point cut technique. Blend any points around the face with a razor or slide cutting technique. 08

10 AFTERCARE TIPS AFTERCARE Platinum Seamless offers a full line of aftercare products that are specifically formulated to nourish hair and help ensure optimal results. AFTERCARE TIPS: Always use Platinum Seamless aftercare products. Wait 48 hours before washing hair after extension service. Always keep conditioner away from attachments. Always blow dry attachments thoroughly. Use styling tools at 400 degrees or less. Use Platinum Seamless BoarLoop Brush to brush hair twice daily (minimum). Never pull, tug or rub vigorously on extensions. When brushing or combing, always support extension attachment at the root. Use silicone/shine styling products sparingly and always keep away from attachments. Sunscreens and argan oil products may alter the color of extensions. Make sure these products do not come in contact with extensions. Never go to bed with wet extensions. SHAMPOO DIRECTIONS Always brush and detangle hair before shampooing. Distribute shampoo evenly, starting at the top of the head. Gently shampoo hair from root to ends using gentle downward strokes. Shampoo under the attachments to remove sweat. Do not over shampoo extensions. Never rub, scrub, or bunch hair while washing. CONDITIONING DIRECTIONS Distribute conditioner generously, using downward strokes mid-shaft to ends. Always keep conditioner away from attachments. Run fingers through or gently comb through to distribute conditioner evenly. Leave on 3-5 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Use a soft towel to absorb the excess water and blot firmly, never rub. COMBING & STYLING Never pull or tug when combing, apply product (if needed) to easily comb through hair. To avoid tension at the root, always support extension attachment when brushing. Hold hand firmly on the scalp while combing and detangling hair. Always blow dry attachments thoroughly. Separate extensions while blow drying to insure attachments are 100% dry on both sides. Always blow dry hair downward in the direction hair grows. Curling or flat irons and heat rollers may be used at moderate heat levels (400 degrees or less) when hair is thoroughly dry SWIMMING + SPORT ACTIVITIES Apply Platinum Seamless Hair Therapy from mid-shaft to ends before activity. Loosely braid hair and secure with cloth band. Do not tie hair into a bun. Avoid soaking extensions in water for long periods of time as salt or chlorine damage can occur. Shampoo & condition as soon as possible to remove salt, chlorine and/or sweat, oils from the hair and between the attachments. Use a soft towel to absorb the excess water and blot firmly, never rub. Use a wide tooth comb and conditioner to detangle. 09

11 EXTENSION REPAIRS REPAIRS REPAIRS Slippage is not an issue with Platinum Seamless, especially when properly applied. If you experience slippage or lifting it could be because of the following: Too much hair is being placed inside the sandwich. The client washed their hair within the first 48 hours of application. The client is not using the correct products shampoo, conditioner, or styling products. The stylist s hands or tools were not clean of oils prior to application. The water used for shampooing has softening agents or certain mineral deposits. The client s hair was not shampooed, clarified or dried properly before application. OCCASIONAL SLIPPAGE Remove extension(s) using a minimal amount of Platinum Seamless Pro Remove (it will not leave an oily residue). Remove any residue left from adhesive with a fine tooth comb (if needed). Shampoo extension(s) with Platinum Seamless Prepare & Clarify to remove any product from extension and adhesive. Dry attachment and extension completely. Apply a piece of double-sided adhesive to the inside of both extension attachments. Reapply extensions as you would a Basic Sandwich. Make sure to secure extension by pressing firmly from center to outer corners. OCCASIONAL CORNER LIFTING If corners are opening but the entire extension does not need to be removed, use Platinum Seamless Liquid Adhesive to secure extension in place. Apply a thin layer of Liquid Adhesive- use sparingly. WRAPPING CORNERS If preferred, for extra hold, corners can be wrapped using our 1.5 single-sided adhesive strips (available in clear or dark). 10

12 EXTENSION REMOVAL EXTENSION REMOVAL Platinum Seamless Extensions can be worn for 2-3 months. Removal takes approximately minutes and when done properly leaves natural hair healthy and damage free. You may use both Pro Remove (Alcohol Based) and Smooth Remove (Oil Based) products alone or together when removing extensions, on wet or dry hair. Do NOT force the extensions apart; this can cause damage to the natural hair. REMOVAL 01. Apply remover generously to the top of attachment. Gently massage it in with your fingers. 02. If removing an invisible sandwich: apply remover to the front of attachment. Gently lift hair off the front of attachment with the metal tip of a rat-tail comb. 03. Insert the metal end of a rat-tail comb between the sandwiched extension sections. This will create small openings allowing the remover to saturate between the attachments. 04. Reapply remover as needed and continue to open the sandwich with the tip of your comb. 05. Lightly pull the two attachments apart at the corners. Gently lift off the extensions. 06. If the extensions are not releasing easily, reapply remover between the corners and peel them apart a little at a time- adding remover as needed. Use Platinum Seamless Hair Therapy, Smooth Remove or conditioner and a fine tooth comb to remove any adhesive or residue left in hair. 11

13 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS PLATINUM SEAMLESS FAQ WHAT TYPE OF PRODUCTS SHOULD BE USED WITH PLATINUM SEAMLESS EXTENSIONS? We recommend that clients only use Platinum Seamless products. CAN YOU GET ROOT TOUCH-UPS OR HIGHLIGHTS WHILE WEARING PLATINUM SEAMLESS? Yes, avoid the attachments while applying root touch-ups. Highlighting extensions is not recommended; only natural hair can be highlighted. Platinum Seamless does not guarantee extensions that have been altered in any way. CAN PLATINUM SEAMLESS EXTENSIONS BE PERMED OR COLORED? Platinum Seamless does not guarantee or accept returns on hair that has been colored, permed, or chemically processed. If you do color your Platinum Seamless Extensions, you should only deposit color, never lift color. Color darker, never lighter. ARE PLATINUM SEAMLESS EXTENSIONS REUSABLE? You may reapply Platinum Seamless Extensions by using our adhesive strips. Extensions typically last 2-3 months when cared for properly; can be worn longer based on hair growth. HOW CURLY IS THE PLATINUM SEAMLESS BODY WAVE? The body wave is a loose S wave. It is not permed or curly. WHAT IS PLATINUM SEAMLESS RETURN POLICY? You may exchange unopened packages within 30 days of purchase (with pre-approval). CAN YOU GET A KERATIN TREATMENT WITH PLATINUM SEAMLESS EXTENSIONS? We recommend Keratin Treatments be done one week prior to extension application. WHY ARE PLATINUM SEAMLESS LOT NUMBERS IMPORTANT? Should you need to speak with Platinum Seamless to discuss hair after it is applied (for any reason), you will be asked to provide: lot number, color and the date of purchase. Please keep accurate records of your purchases so we will be able to assist you in the best way. SHOULD YOU PRE-WASH PLATINUM SEAMLESS FASHION COLORS? Yes, we recommend you pre-wash Fashion Colors before application to avoid any color bleeding. CAN A CLIENT WITH FINE/ THIN HAIR WEAR TAPE EXTENSIONS? Yes! Platinum Seamless Extensions would be the best option for fine/ thin hair. Our multiple methods of attachment can give your client a seamless, damage-free result every time. 12
