English acronym (Light-Emitting g Diode) LED is a semiconductor device (diode) that emit a narrow spectrum of incoherent light which is polarised directly and then an electrical current is passed through. This phenomenon is a form of electroluminescence. The colour (wavelength) depends on the semiconductor material used to construct the diode. This can vary from ultraviolet to visible to infrared.
