the serie of three videos: How to speak like president, Adapting and the fear of mistake, is the result of our correspondances

7 Estèe Lauder is a Mynah bird rescued in India and living in Gloucester. Since september 2015 we hold a conversation on Skype in wich I am training her trying to find a common language. the serie of three videos: How to speak like president, Adapting and the fear of mistake, is the result of our correspondances through the software. Every video follow the model of an online interactive lesson acting in different ways the desire to adapt among humans and animals. View of the group show Interkontinental, BELMACZ 2016

during the residency of Apulia Land Art Festival in the area of ostuni's vegetable gardens, Michela de Mattei conceived a double intervention: according to her specific interest for the structure of

10 during the residency of Apulia Land Art Festival in the area of ostuni's vegetable gardens, Michela de Mattei conceived a double intervention: according to her specific interest for the structure of elements, the artist dwelt on the inner shape of the tree trunks and their progressive circular growth, ring after ring. The first work is a video showing the hypnotic movement of a hula hoop around the stem of an almond tree; While the second installation is a graft of a wooden ring into the trunk of a fig tree, which stands along the path of the gardens. in either case, de Mattei suggests a correspondence between the circular motion of the hoop and the only movement allowed to a plant: the loop; imagining in the video an incessant movement of the hula hoop around the tree, artifice that finds its crystallization in the graft intervention. During my solo show at Galleria Ex Elettrofonica, (Rome, IT) I conceived for the space a double intervention: a site specific installation of glass sculptures and a video streaming showing in real

17 During my solo show at Galleria Ex Elettrofonica, (Rome, IT) I conceived for the space a double intervention: a site specific installation of glass sculptures and a video streaming showing in real time the life of 3 chetaahs insidethe Parco Natura Viva of Verona (IT). I combined for the installation some abstract layers of glass and some figured objects (U.V collage/bended/blow glasses), shapes that I am used to see around me in my studio. Playing with the trasparency of the material, I tryed to cover the space layer by layer as a painter would do for glazing a canvas. The live video-streaming was projected on the wall during the 3 months (without sound). It was like a landscape-painting but setting down every day. The streaming showed a small portion of the huge space that the 3 chetaahs inhabit and the animals eventually appeared on the scene. They had their habits. Through the transparent encumbrances of the sculptures and through the video I was looking for two exits from the gallery space. Looking to the works as staring out the window.

24 detail, installation view per Gravità, was a response to Sguardo Contemporaneo s curatorial project on the neighbourhood of Casalbertone. I approach this district of my own town through a touristic perspective, asking to be hosted, while I was working there, by some residents of the area. I have been living in 3 different houses looking for some image-material showing the dynamic connection between the space of the neighbourhood and its people routine. A point that might show the deep correspondance between the frame and the content. The result of my visit has been both video and sculptural. The video installation shows the takes I shoot indoors, filming some dishes full of diluted painting in wich the outside landscape coming from the windows was reflecting into. The outside surrounding meeting the liquid inside the plate became a colourful surface representing without any distance my private journey around the flats of casalbertone and its landscape. The founded large steel structures are the functional shapes used as moulding by glassmakers to curve the glass. I combined them with solid glass aquarium in order to display a pressure, a cause and a consequence between the two containers.

innesto# 6, ri-orientamento is a product of a historical study of the Santa rita hall: the former church that was founded in 1653 in the vicinity of Aracoeli was removed in 1928 to be then rebuilt in

35 innesto# 6, ri-orientamento is a product of a historical study of the Santa rita hall: the former church that was founded in 1653 in the vicinity of Aracoeli was removed in 1928 to be then rebuilt in in the position where it stands today. during the reconstruction, some references from the original were lost, including the spatial orientation. Michela de Mattei traces the profile of the interior of the hall, studying its supporting elements and reconstructs them by rotating the perimeter, not in order to restore its initial design, but to investigate the relationship that binds man to space. The artist reinterprets the architecture through a subtle interplay of materials such as iron and marble that emerge as graphic signs allowing the viewer to trace, with transparency, the original reference. The exhibition consists of an environmental sculpture and a video in which the architectural profiles of the hall become tools for understanding the landscape, incorporating it and at the same time outlining its boundaries. Graft Experiment is a work grown through different steps in order to understand how I would have been able to position myself and my work regarding the past.

41 Graft Experiment is a work grown through different steps in order to understand how I would have been able to position myself and my work regarding the past. The first step ( ) has been going to the places where few of my big Masters wrote or thought or died deeply. In each site I graft in the ground some recovered water pipes of various size documenting it through a serie of photographs as a manifesto to Continuity and a concern of dryness. (Ezra Pound, Metato di Pisa, American Remand Centre, graft experiment#1, 2010/Beuys, Bolognano, Graft experiment#2 2011/Pier Paolo Pasolini, Idroscalo di Ostia, Graft experiment#3 2011) The second stage Untitled (Postmodernism) is an installation of 160 water pipes collected from junk dealers. I organised them in a vertical drawing, making a sort of wall where every line is combined next to the other according to the chromatic nuances of the rusts and through a geometric effort despite the crooked forms of the pipes (twisted by the force of the water passed through them). Fascinated about the living underground network of a city I imagined its sudden interruption associating it to the postmodernist feeling of a monumental flood and inability to line up. The third step is a sound installation. Two zinc pipes are displayed on the floor, the sound that arises from them is the record of an interview to Ezra Pound done by Pasolini in 1967, the two poets talk about Italy, about art and about literature. Then Pasolini ended the encounter reading Ezra Pound s spiritual testament. The simple plan of an apartment, modeled on a natural form, with its raised areas and cavities, reformulates the relationship between man and nature, juxtaposing languages and otherwise irreconcilable forms. The task involves making the plan of my house coincide on stones of different shapes in order to observe the possible natural variations in which this space reforms itself. i repeated this same process for the planimetry of the ex factory Fiorucci (Metropoliz) on the occasion of the exhibition district 913. The work took proportions much larger and was donated to the MAAM, museo dell'altro e dell'altrove di metropoliz (roma)
