Because potential buyers come to Catawiki looking for affordable and pre-owned luxury fashion, our in-house experts select every piece for our auctions, ensuring they are of premium quality and are presented in the best possible way. We do this because we aim to keep our bidders excited, allowing them to find the pieces they re interested in and to ensure our sellers have great selling experiences.

15 Collectable and Iconic We consider iconic and collectable fashion pieces that: are instantly recognisable and produced by design houses that have marked the history of fashion were fashion revolutions meant to empower women and men and that nowadays are timeless pieces meant to last forever never lose their charm over time nor go out of fashion and that any fashion collector would want to keep Examples of items that are not iconic and collectable

16 Condition Grade and Condition The condition of the object is key and greatly influences what we accept. It also has a significant impact on the final selling price. At Catawiki we strive to present a selection of fashion clothing and accessories in very good condition, pieces that are torn/broken or badly damaged or stained are generally not accepted for auction. Clothing generally needs to be in wearable condition, clean and preferably ironed for a good presentation. Vintage bags and accessories in fair condition, showing evident signs of wear, will only be accepted for high value brands such as Hermès, Chanel, Louis Vuitton when the cost for restoration doesn t exceed market value. A New B As new, unused C Excellent condition, barely used with minimal signs of wear D Very good condition, slightly used with small signs of wear E Good condition, used with some signs of wear F Fair condition, used with visible signs of wear

19 Pu bli Fur Clothing and Accessories We only accept fur coats and accessories in excellent condition and preferably not vintage, made of most common fur types such as fox, beaver, mink and lapin. We try to avoid protected species such as ocelot, leopard, lynx etc. even if submitted with a regular Cites certificate. We are only able to accept a limited number of fur coats every week (max 30/40) and from March - September we will lower the concentration of this fashion item even more due to seasonality and lack of interest. We don t accept fur items with paws, tails and heads attached. Please check fur type on the official checklist of Cites species before submitting the item: ci nfo r ma tio n

20 Submission Guidelines Potential buyers are more likely to bid on lots with a good description, all relevant information displayed clearly and, of course, beautiful photos. Lot Description To help encourage potential buyers to bid on your lot, you should include a detailed description of your object(s). This should be thorough and honest, and follow the guidelines on the next page.

21 Pu Submission Guidelines bli ci nfo r If you are using our website to upload your lots, tips will appear to give you guidance about what information we need to know about your lot. The fields that you fill in help to present the information in a way that s easy for the buyer to read. The required information includes: Brand Type of item Style code or name (for bags and eyewear) Colour Material Condition - any blemishes should be advised Period (vintage or modern) Year (50s, 60s, 70s etc.) Serial number (if present) Size: Clothing: IT, NL/DE, FR, ES, International Shoes: FR, IT, ES, US, UK Eyewear: Eye size x Temple size x Bridge size Measurements Clothing: shoulder width, chest width, sleeve length, total length Accessories: width x height x depth Shoes: heel height ma tio n

22 Pu bli ci nfo r ma Image Guidelines Including strong photographs is key to catching buyers eyes, ensuring they bid on your lot. Of course, buying online means potential bidders do not get a chance to see your lot in person, therefore detailed and high quality photographs are very important. Photographs To allow our experts, as well as our bidders, to get the right impression of an item, we require a minimum of 6 high quality photos, giving: a 360 degree view of the item close-ups of important details, according to the guidelines on the next page tio n

23 Pu Image Guidelines - General Take photos from all sides: provide at least 6 photos of the lot, showing the front, back, inside, bottom and side view of the item. Take close-ups and include relevant details: images of the logo or brand, authenticity codes as well as any care label and size label. Don t use stock photos or images downloaded from the internet. Use a plain and neutral background. Clothing: present your piece on a hanger or a dummy mannequin. Accessories: present your accessory laying on a plain surface. Bags: please fill it with bubble wrap or rolls of paper before taking photos of the exterior, remove any plastic or paper around the handles or outer parts of the bag. Any blemish or sign of tear should be pictured in order to avoid post-sale cancellations. Avoid self-portraits, bare hands, necks etc. Do not photograph your fashion piece on yourself or any other person. You can use white gloves to take pictures of details. Only show the item(s) you re selling: avoid including details of the room (furniture, curtains, etc.). Do not photograph items on a sofa, heater or other domestic elements. Don t take photos of the items outdoors with a garden or landscape in the background.
