2 President s Message We just returned from the annual NCRG Roundup. The Sacramento Club did an outstanding job and we were well represented. John Carvalho and Dan Sciabica both entered their cars and placed nicely, Stan Braden participated as a car judge, Teresa Gissible as a fashion judge, Sharon entered as an era fashion entrant as usual, and several in our club entered the gymkhana and Hubley races. Oh, the Bledsoes won the hard luck award, stealing that honor from us when we lost a tire at last year s roundup. Two events are planned next month, the Apricot Parade and the fly-in at Eagle Field, both will be fun. For those of you who were not at the last meeting we have found a new location for our meetings that seems to meet all our requirements. It is possible that we will vote at the June meeting to relocate as early as the August meeting, so please attend. The new locations is 3112 Napier Dr., Modesto. (Corner of West Rumble and College Ave.) Father s Day is fast approaching, so all the men get the weekend off. Enjoy! Bob

The only way to get those minutes would be for someone like the secretary to have the minute book. I would appreciate everyone who was a member way back and has a collection of stored Vibrators to please look through them to see if there is a set of minutes in them. The above dates are missing which makes a gap in the year of that president. If someone could find any of the minutes and loan them to me, I can guarantee that they will be returned in the same condition that you gave them to me. Meet at the Hilmar Cheese Factory at ll:00. At approximately 12:00 we will leave for Los Banos by Lander Avenue. We should arrive at the Best Western Motel, 301 W. Pacheco around 1:00. We have been assured we can check in early. From the motel, we will travel in our Model A s to Eagle Field for the enactments. There will be transportation from Eagle Field back to the motel for those members who do not wish to drive back to the motel. Transportation will be provided to Eagle Field on Sunday for breakfast. Model A s can be picked up then. May 26 was the last day the block of rooms were held, however, rooms are still available. If you still need a room, call: Best Western Questions: Call Paul at

5 Forth of July Parade We will meet at 10th Street between D and E Streets at 8:30 a.m. (like last year, it might be necessary to shift a block or two, but we won t know for sure until the morning of the Parade so be prepared to be flexible). Coffee and donuts will be available while we decorate our cars. The Parade will start at 10:00 a.m. Lunch after the parade will be at the Woodland Ave Fire Department. This will also be our July meeting. $10 deposit per member. Guests will be $10 for adults and $5 for children 17 and under. (Separate non-refundable check for guests please). I printed this chart to help you in making choices for your Era or image outfits as it gives you the correct hat size. Since most of you wear baseball caps now. I'm asked a lot about where do you buy all these things?? 1. Round Ups or National Meets 2. Antique Stores 3. Word of mouth other members 4. Consignment stores or Thrift Store - This is where I have the BEST luck with men s things. I was at the Discovery Shop, found a beautiful ARMANI pin strip suit $40. Buy-Rite, Navy suit $25. If you are not competing, don t spend a lot. Unless you want it to be your last suit*. 5. Western Store. Collarless shirts. Hats. 6. Catalogs - This is a really good one jpeterman.com Owner s Manual No (Thanks- Shirley Mattos). They carry Mens and Ladies things great era looks. Hat, caps, shirts, suits and vests check it out. 7. Dorfman /Pacific on-line catalog for nice hats for both men and women. 8. Penny s or Sear s for our farmers or working man look, bib overalls or coveralls w/ or w/o strips. Also shoes oxfords or wing tips or work boots. 9. Men s Store for Tux s check the sale rack. Don t forget the golf stores for knickers, vest, sweaters and shoes too. 10. Finally, Jewelry. Yes, even for men. A wedding ring (maybe), pearl buttons or studs, a pocket or wrist watch, tie pins or clasps, cuff links or snaps, a vest chain or fob. All these are this available in the stores. 11. If ALL else fails go to ebay. But, again buyer beware! Check the seller history, if they accept returns, shipping charges (some things cost more to ship then it s worth), and stay way from overseas sellers and use paypal.

Joe Curry was a charter member of the club when it was formed in Joe served as president in 1970, was the Outstanding Member in 1987 and on many committees during his years in the club. From our Fashion Coordinator, Joe Curry Some of you Johnny come latelys may not know that The Modesto Area A s hosted the first Northern California Roundup. We were also first to put on a fashion show. Now this may not seem important or a big deal to some of you. This turned out to be a beginning for our club that made us a real family club. We now had something for every member of the family. Our club has been a leader in fashion from that beginning. We have been well represented at all meets in era fashions. We have had many first place winners: best of show in both ladies and mens fashions. Now is the time to start planning for the roundup. This could be used as a good tune-up for the World Meet in Tacoma. Fashions can be fun and have been gaining in popularity. They expect one of the largest happenings ever at a meet. Two sets of judging rooms will be used so that all contestants will not be March 3, March 20, 2000 hurried. Fashion seminars taught by top M.A.R.C. and M.A.F.C.A. experts will be going on throughout the week. Fashion awards will be given at the Puttin on the Ritz. You will be able to enjoy a fashion show, dance to live music, no host bar and snacks! Here is an opportunity to regain your youth, kick up your heels with your best gal, or someone elses. We can all learn a lot about fashions from each other. How about a fashion get-together in the near future? As your fashion chairman for the year, I must have your input. Please feel free to discuss all your ideas with me regarding fashions. Working together we can have a fun year.
