8 FROM THE EDITOR I M A HUGE FAN of Kristen Bell. She is open and honest and has an absurd fascination with sloths. If you ever need cheering up, I recommend you google an interview she did with Ellen DeGeneres where she shows a video Kristen s husband, Dax Shepard, made when he surprised Kristen with a sloth. Her reaction is priceless. In our frank interview with the star (page 16), Kristen talks about the decision she made to open up about suffering from depression. As she put it, The last thing I want is for people to look at my life as a happy rainbow and think happiness is unattainable because they don t have it like I have it. For me, Kristen s statement was about so much more than depression. We are all guilty of glossing over and hiding stuff to present our best selves not only to the world but to friends and family too; and of looking at others with envy, imagining they have a perfect life. If there s one gift age has given me, it is knowing that every single person has a story, something that makes them ache or that they wish they could escape or undo. And I guess the most important thing to remember is that even if you don t know their story, you need to remember they have one. So thank you, Kristen, for that reminder.
