2 ABOUT CRUCIBLE EVENTS & PLANNERS Crucible Events & Planners is a Geneva-based event planning group specializing in public relations and tailored events. It organized the first edition of the Africa Fashion Show Geneva (AFSG) at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel on 1 June 2013.
3 A F S G 2013 AFRICA FASHION SHOW GENEVA 2013 CONCEPT The Africa Fashion Show Geneva (AFSG) is an independent venture that aims to tell a different story about Africa to the global community. Africa is a beautiful, vibrant and dynamic continent with brilliant and creative minds and goes beyond the usual stereotypes of conflict, diseases, hunger and poverty often recorded in the media. The AFSG celebrates the beauty and diversity of Africa through fashion, music and dance. The show reflects the vitality of the creative human spirit and showcases the diverse talents of African fashion designers and models from all corners of the continent to display Africa s diverse cultural heritage. AFSG is a unique opportunity to connect with the richness of African textiles, ethos and origins. THE COLLECTION AFSG 2013 displayed the unique and diverse talents of models featuring men and womens-wear for six African fashion designers: Ailolul Caftan - Morocco Adookeh - Nigeria Baldon - Nigeria Design for love - Nigeria House of Raffinato - Switzerland Lyze Hats - United Kingdom The evening also featured live music performances from Johnny Fresh, aka Freshboi, an Afro Pop artist from Nigeria.
4 THE DESIGNERS Ahdookeh Ahdookeh is a couture fashion label based in Lagos, Nigeria under the creative direction of Keji Fatai Agoro (KFA). The label was launched in 2005 and produces two main collections every year. Ahdookeh came as a result of a soulsearching experience for KFA,according to her, inspiration for the label and it s name came as a result of a phrase in a poem - the journey of discovery started, love and support came from unexpected sources, and I discovered myself. I found my purpose, my voice, my meaning the reason for my being. KFA has definitely found her purpose and passion in fashion.

8 Baldon Clothiers Ltd
9 A F S G 2013 Baldon Clothiers Ltd from Nigeria, is an indigenous fashion and design outfit that caters especially to men. Based in the capital city of Abuja Nigeria, Baldon makes shirts, trousers, jackets, tunics, team apparels, uniforms, branded and customized clothing. Adedoyin Balogun, the CEO of Baldon schooled in Nigeria and the UK in the 80s and 90s. He is a graduate of pure & applied Chemistry from the University of Jos.He s also studied at the Lagos business school (Pan African University). His vision is to create a global clothing brand of African origin that is focused on excellent service delivery, professionalism and creativity.
10 Design for love (DFL) DFL is an apparel and accessory design and manufacturing company with a bias for utilizing African inspired materials. DFL s vision is to be the leading African inspired female apparel design brand, by offering quality, innovative and value driven female clothing and accessories that will satisfy the desire of clients that want to identify with African heritage/culture while still being cosmopolitan.

12 House of Raffinato Bhola Akin-Akintunde is a haute couture fashion designer from Nigeria. She graduated from the Lagos state University, with a degree in Mathematics and later qualified from the Vicki Ginani institute of fashion design. Bhola began designing and dressmaking in 1997 for the upwardly mobile and fashion conscious women in Lagos, Nigeria. Upon her relocation to Geneva, Switzerland in 2004, she has acquired additional skills as a qualified test analyst in developing designs and concepts using the CAD skill applications for her fashion clothing line. She is currently promoting Farri her 2013 spring collection, a brand out of the House of Raffinato promoting contemporary styles, rhythms and creativity of Africa, using African prints and silk for the European market.

14 Lyze Bamigbola-Silas
15 A F S G 2013 Lyze Bamigbola-Silas, an exclusive London Milliner creates bespoke headwear through personal consultations with her clients. Her passion has always been designing and after 2 non-design related degrees and a few diplomas, she decided to answer the whisper to research millinery. That whisper developed into a passion that became her source of livelihood. For practical experience she turned to Siegfried Hesbacher of Siggi Hats and Edwina Ibbotson. All her Hats and Fascinators are made with high-grade materials and to the highest standards. She works from her South London base, and has a world-wide clientele.
16 THE EVENT This show was only a stepping-stone to one of the biggest extravaganza to be held annually. In the audience were Mrs. Nane Annan, wife of former Secretary General of the Unted Nations Mr. Kofi Annan; the Nigerian Ambassador to Switzerland, Mr. Orijako and his wife; Mr. Issa Diallo, former United Nations Special Representative in Angola; Ms. Anja Loetscher, Director of the Geneva Tourism; Ms. Caroline Kende-Robb, Executive Director, Africa Progress Panel; Vice- Admiral Jubrila Ayinla, former Chief of the Nigerian Naval Staff; and Mr. Herman Ntchatcho, Senior Director at the World Intellectual property Organization (WIPO).
