Introduction There are two kinds of dye sub textile printers Disperse dye ink direct to the fabric; you then sublimate (heat treat) underneath or in front of the printer.

To print on other kinds of fabrics (silk, wool, etc) you need either acid dye or reactive dye ink.

So signage and advertising trade shows almost never exhibit these acid dye or reactive dye textile printing systems.

2 Introduction There are two kinds of dye sub textile printers Disperse dye ink direct to the fabric; you then sublimate (heat treat) underneath or in front of the printer. Dye sublimation ink onto transfer paper. You then move the printed paper to a separate machine, a calender heat press. This sublimates the ink into a gas which imprints on the polyester-based cloth. To print on other kinds of fabrics (silk, wool, etc) you need either acid dye or reactive dye ink. The printers for this ink are more expensive and the workflow is complicated (lots of pre-treatment and post-printing treatment). So signage and advertising trade shows almost never exhibit these acid dye or reactive dye textile printing systems.
