Welcome to FG Creative I have great pleasure in bringing you the third edition of FG Creative, filled with FG success and creative news. It was fantastic to bring everyone together at our annual Awards Event to celebrate all that FG is about! There is some strong, but healthy competition within the Group fighting to be the best and the standard of photographic entries this year was extremely high. I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new Franchisees, Mark Izzard (FG Bramhall) and Adam Murphy (FG Man) and their Teams. I look forward to celebrating with you next year! Finalists Francesco Group have been successful in achieving Finalist status in four categories at the industry s most recognised awards... Mia Dellicompagni, Director of Hairdressing and Amy Sultan, Creative Director, FG Poole Salon & Academy have finalised in the Wales & South West Hairdresser of the Year category at the British Hairdressing Awards for the second consecutive year. Amy has also finalised for Salon Stylist of the Year, alongside Elizabeth Young, FG Cannock and Mike Fenton, FG Sandbach for Franchisee of the Year and Pam Armstrong, FG Hanley for Manager of the Year at the British Hairdressing Business Awards. Guests were treated to an inspiring show, delivered by FG s Creative Team, who recreated looks from their latest collection Bohemian. After a sumptuous 3 course dinner, we celebrated the group s talent and success and did what hairdressers do best partied late into the night!

7 We continue to follow, Creative Team Member, James Earnshaw s journey with the F.A.M.E Team In June, James was lucky enough to experience a trip of a life time, travelling to Sydney, Australia. After a very long flight and late arrival it was straight to work; starting with a model casting and rehearsals for our shows at Sydney's Hair Expo. After several long days of prepping models; and even longer evenings networking, it was show time! We worked on the main stage of Hair Expo for three days which was super busy and full of energy. As a Team, we created a show called "Youthquake" which was all about the London Street vibe combining grungy textures and muted tones. In the evening, the F.A.M.E Team were invited to attend the Gen Next Gala as the Grand Finale Act. Being on stage in front of 2000 people was amazing and utilising wigs allowed us to work with extreme texture, length and colour to create some fantastic looks. Whilst in Sydney, we had the pleasure of shooting a huge campaign for Babyliss PRO. I can t tell you too much about it now as I have been sworn to secrecy... but the campaign images are some of my favourite that I have worked on! To complete our trip, we attended an intimate event at the Wella Studios to see the iconic Eugene Souleiman create two incredible looks and hear about his hairdressing journey and success. I had an amazing time and give huge thanks to The Fellowship, Babyliss PRO and Francesco Group for enabling me to take this trip of a lifetime. 8 Over half way through their year, the Colour Project Team have worked alongside industry icons such as Edward Darley, Sassoon UK Colour Director; Christel Lundqvist, TIGI Global Technical Director and Robert Eaton, British Hairdresser of the Year with more opportunities to follow before their journey ends in December. We have been using different colouring techniques and experimenting with a range of brands to give us inspiration and new ideas. We have had the opportunity to research Pantone colours which influence our day to day fashions and colour schemes not only in fashion but in homes, etc. Our March Colour Project Team meeting focused on pulling together our own collection for our Team photo shoot with award-winning London based photographer Jack Eames which will soon be launched into industry magazines. This was a fantastic experience gaining confidence in creating specific looks for camera and future photo shoots. Our year with the Colour Project Team has been amazing so far and really enjoy taking our inspiration and knowledge back to the salon. Helen Turner - FG Wolverhampton We are extremely proud of the collection the Colour Project Team created and are so happy to have made the front cover of the Fellowship Magazine. Disillusioned is a modern take on 90 s grunge, influenced by Fernanda Ly. A soft, antiqued colour palette, gives it a cool, contemporary and effortless feel. 9 UK Student of the Year 2017 FG Cheltenham Apprentice, Libby Clarke represented Francesco Group in the Hair Council UK Student of the Year Awards 2017 and did us proud by securing 1st place in the Level 2 category. As a Winner, Libby has been invited to shadow celebrity hairdresser Andrew Barton and attend a career guided lunch with Sophia Hilton as well as afternoon tea at the House of Commons! I m looking forward to being able to promote myself with a new title and show off my beautiful little trophy. With the encouragement and advice I got from the judges afterwards I m planning to do the best I can with some new knowledge and connections. I'm inspired to be part of the Hair Council's future! Libby Clarke - FG Cheltenham S Hair Awards 2017 Huge congratulations to Francesco Group Birmingham Academy salon team for scooping Best Afro Salon in this year s Hair Awards celebrating the very best of high-street hair as the only consumer and industry tested hair product awards of its kind in the UK! Colour world is every colourists dream! This two-day event is fun packed with all forms of colour inspiration; from new techniques and colour innovations to ways to increase your colour business and inside information from industry icons. This was the second year of this event, located in East London and it has gone from strength to strength with tickets quickly selling out for both days. Colour world is an energising and quirky colour event and I was honoured to be asked to host three slots on Sunday, the first day of the event which included a 1 hour Q&A Session on the Colour Genius Bar based on brain drain clients, colour mixtures and my career highlights. I also gave my interpretation of the S/S 2017 Runway Hair Colour Trends in the Cinema room and ended with a Listen & Learn crash course on Skin Tone Analysis. Colour world is a truly fantastic and inspirational day for any colourist and I would definitely recommend you have the dates saved in your diary for next year! 10 Creative Colour Director, Claire Chell was invited to judge the Wella Professional TrendVision Awards Regional Heat in Glasgow. It's always a pleasure judging the Wella Trendvision Awards regional heats Colour Vision category. This year was my first year judging in Glasgow and the standard didn't disappoint! Past Forward has to be my favourite trend, however it was the Ultra Contouring models that stood out for me in Glasgow. Presentations were strong and well-rehearsed and the five Francesco Group finalists are a strong competition for the UK & Ireland Final. FG Creative Colour Director - Claire Chell Runway Colour Vision Frankie-Lea Rawlinson Barry Maddocks I ve entered TrendVision twice before and this is the first time I have got through to the Regional Finals. No words can describe how I felt when my name was announced - I was over the moon and I m so excited to be doing it all over again in September, I m living my dream! Hearing my name called to say I was through to the finals was a surreal moment! FG Hanley FG Ringwood Sammie Boot FG Walsall Daniel Billington FG Uttoxeter Heather Shaw FG Stafford Salon & Academy I have put a lot of time and effort into the competition and now feel that it was all worth it - being recognised for all the hard work you have put in and being selected as a finalist feels amazing. My inspiration for my model was based on the trend of Optical Illusions by Ultra Contouring. I feel like I really captured this by using soft tones of Lemoncello and Smokey Amethyst, also creating textures throughout the style complementing the overall finish Daniel Billington - FG Uttoxeter My inspiration for my creation came from current trends such as London and New York Fashion Weeks but I wanted to put my own sci-fi twist to it. Films such as Avatar, Star Wars and Ghost in the Shell really inspired me because of their quirky styles. Frankie-Lea Rawlinson - FG Hanley

11 The XPOSURE Tour 2017 was a jam packed, high energy week for the FG Creative Team as ambassadors for the Wella student competition. They travelled the breadth of the UK showcasing their interpretations of the Wella Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter trends, Ultra Contouring and New Norm. A mix of editorial shapes and fashion forward colours were demonstrated, representing both the Wella and Francesco Group brands and the looks were greatly received by all who attended. Congratulations to our Wella XPOSURE Silver Award Winner, Shannon Dammery of Francesco Group Poole Academy! Shannon was selected from 1000 s of entries from creative and talented students across the UK to present a live model at both the Regional Heats and Final in London. I felt nervous about entering XPOSURE, but soon realised what an amazing experience it was! Achieving the Silver Award whilst still in my 2nd year of hairdressing has given me so much confidence and drive to carry on being creative in all that I do. The creativity from other competitors was so inspirational and I enjoyed meeting new people. I've now got the bug and can't wait to enter Wella XPOSURE again next year and enter more competitions. The whole experience has been so enjoyable. My inspiration was to push the boundaries of the brief of Commercial Cut & Colour Look. I wanted my look to be wearable but also strong and have an edge to it to grab the attention of the Judges and work sympathetically to my models looks. The hair cut was strong in shape and enhanced my models small petite face and strong bone structure. The colour was where I felt I could really put my stamp on it and I took inspiration from the environment. The UK weather is always in change and this visually gave me so much colour inspiration. The Stormy Hues of Ocean Storm and /88 over pre-lightened areas gave a cool earthy feel against the Stark Blue/Black background. Shannon Dammery - FG Poole Academy As a Silver Award Winner, Shannon was lucky enough to win some fantastic prizes to develop her hairdressing skills as well as a Wella Professionals XPOSURE Trophy! 12 Bonjour, Francesco Group AFRO Workshop The renowned Fellowship for British Hairdressing, invited Michelle to attend their Afro Workshop, as one of five accomplished Afro specialist hairdressers. Delegates were given the opportunity to learn the fundamentals on cutting and dressing Afro hair with expert advice and guidance on hand from Michelle and other industry greats. It s fantastic that The Fellowship for British Hairdressing hold this event to open the market up in the industry more! Cannes Film Festival 2017 The team, comprising of FG Streetly Franchisees Paul & Saranne Corbett; Wella Generation NOW member, Galina Johnson also of FG Streetly and Phil Underhill, FG Lichfield were invited to style hair for designers from all over the world at the renowned Cannes Film Festival celebrating its 70th Anniversary this year! Working around the clock throughout the festival, the Team were tasked with styling the hair for 40 models, quickly changing looks between shows to creating Red Carpet Couture hair for the Global Short Film Awards; an exclusive event held at the famous Intercontinental Carlton Hotel. The looks created included a vintage Hollywood wave, Grecian Buns and a Japanese Aesthetic look with gold leaf. The Cannes Film Festival 2017 was an incredible experience and myself and the rest of the team were thrilled to be a part of it and to have had the chance to meet so many great people. 13 Since 2010, Wella, and partner UNICEF, have worked in collaboration with Hairstylists around the world to provide hairdressing and life skills education to youngsters in emerging countries as part of the Making Waves Program. FG Streetly Franchisee, Paul Corbett will be travelling to Cambodia and representing the UK as one of 10 mentors from 9 countries! "I am so thrilled to be a part of the Wella/UNICEF Making Waves Program. Our industry is all about sharing our knowledge, so being able to do this in a place where our input is going to make a real difference to people's lives is such a privilege. I will be using all of my knowledge that I have gained through working at Francesco Group for the last 16 years to try to inspire young people in Cambodia so that they can take control of their future." 14 Current Wella Generation NOW member, Galina Johnson, FG Streetly passes the baton to new 2017/18 team member Barry Maddocks of FG Ringwood. Generation NOW is a fantastic platform for up and coming hairdressers to raise their profile, giving them the opportunity to work on stage at some of the top events in the industry calendar. The 2017/18 Team will be mentored by Clayde Baumann of D&J Ambrose. As a finalist in the UK & Ireland Wella TrendVision Awards, Barry is certainly one to watch for the future! Being a part of the Wella Generation NOW team will give me the chance to work alongside some of my biggest idols within the industry. 15 TREND UPDATE With Francesco Group s Creative Colour Director, Claire Chell AUTUMN 2017 Dare to be Bold? Dare to be Bright?... Well Summer/Autumn 17 hair colour is about to go crazy Hallelujah!, finally we are in a hair colour revolution! Dust off your Wella Special Mix and bring out your Magma Lemoncello; 80 s inspired neon colour is about to rock your world! Paris Fall Fashion Week 17 embraced models with bold hair colours or used coloured hair extensions to bring their outfits to life. We like to bring an element of the catwalk to our clients and, well, why wouldn't you?! This bold explosion of colour is great for our experimental clients but also has more colour longevity with the use of stronger tones. For the best results always place these shades over pre-lightened pale bases and feel free to use your Cool 10 lines as carriers and allow as much special mix to fall into the mixtures as possible. For a stunning Neon Green, double tone on pre-lightened hair! Use Wella Professionals Magma Lemoncello + Pastel Developer on pre-shampooed hair first for around 10 minutes to create a day-glow yellow. Rinse then apply Wella Koleston Perfect 0/28 + Pastel Developer over the top until you achieve the desired depth of Green. This change will happen quick so don't snooze! Model, Georgia May Jagger may just be responsible for the latest hair craze that everyone is talking about, yes, you got it - I'm talking about BLORANGE! Georgia showed off her new look on Instagram in October last year and it took nearly 7 months to finally become huge. It doesn t stand for Blonde/Orange, which some people have mistakenly thought. Instead, Blorange stands for Blood Orange; the perfect combination of Orange, Blonde and Pink tones that make for a unique Strawberry Blonde look. This craze can be worn by clients with any skin tone with the use of clever colour placement around the face; warmer skin tones suit Peachy or Warm Blonde tones around the hairline where as cooler skin tones should embrace Rose/Blush tones to emphasise their features. The Blorange colour crush works best when the Wella Professionals colour portfolio collides. Use a mixture of Wella Koleston Perfect shades, fluidly placed next to shades from the Illumina or Colour Touch Relights ranges to energise this colour palette.
