The All-American Series was created to deliver superior flagpoles to the public using the quality, craftsmanship and expertise of American manufacturing. Each step in the process was carefully reviewed to ensure a superior quality product. Steel poles are made with a wall thickness that guarantees durability: 18 gauge for the In-Ground Pole Kits and 28 gauge for the 2-Piece Pole Sets All poles are powder coated tough: a dry electrostatically charged paint that forms an extremely tough and durable coating that resists cracking, peeling, marring and corrosion The ball, aluminum truck, and cleat are vacuum metalized: this process gives a superior high gloss, long lasting color retention and the durability to withstand an outdoor environment The 3-inch ball topper is made of solid hardwood: vastly superior to the traditional balls normally used in other flagpole sets The 2-position brackets used in the 2-piece pole sets are made from recycled high-density polyethylene (HDPE): tested 25% stronger than nylon and abs brackets commonly used in the market 4

Heading: Heavy fabric used to secure flag to the halyard line, usually made of durable cotton or synthetic canvas. Grommet: Brass ring or eyelet (normally in the heading) for mounting outdoor flags. Truck: The device at the top of an outdoor pole that houses the pulley wheel. Finial: A decorative top for a flag pole, often an eagle, spear or ball. Snap Hooks: Hardware made of either brass or molded nylon to attach the flag to the halyard line. Cleat: The device used to secure the bottom of the flagpole halyard. Halyard: Rope used to raise the flag; can be external and tied to a cleat, or internal. Flash Collar: The cover for the base of the pole, used for cosmetic and protective purposes. Foundation Tube: Cylinder tube used as a form for the concrete base of an in-ground flag pole. Outrigger A flagpole mounted on a building at an angle other than vertical. D E C Fly End The end of the flag that flies in the breeze, also the part of the flag that endures the most stress. Crown A flag with pole hem and fringe for indoor display and parade use. Hoist End The part of the flag that attaches to the halyard. Roped Heading A flag where the hoisted end is reinforced with a rope throughout the heading. G F H B A I SST A type of heading that uses the base fabric of the flag to construct a sleeve that usually slides over a pole, with a tab to attach near top. Fabric Sleeve A type of heading that adds a piece of fabric to an existing flag to construct a sleeve that usually slides over a pole, with a tab to attach near top. Pole Hem The same heading as fabric sleeve but with a fabric lining. DETERMINING FLAG SIZE The length of the flag should be at least 1 4 the height of the pole. For example, a 40 pole requires a 6 x 10 flag or larger. This guideline applies to poles 20 and larger. Most residential flags are 3 x 5 or 4 x 6. Most small industrial and commercial buildings use either a 5 x 8 or a 6 x 10 flag. Major industrial, municipal and government buildings require 8 x 12 and larger. However, the size of the pole is the determining factor.
