7 SEM PHOTOS OF SILICONE DEPOSITED HAIR SAMPLE NO. Fluid 60,000 cst Gum(1Million) & Fluid SAFEELIA WGE-60SP PARTICLE SIZE(d(v,0.5, micron)) Sample Preparation Hair was pre-washed with a non-silicone containing shampoo, and drying by hair blower. Above Silicone emulsions diluted to 0.5%-0.6%(as active matter 0.3%) silicone emulsion in de-ionized water. Hair dipped into a treatment bath for 1 min. Hair rinsing with running water for 30 seconds and air dried. SEM Photos Taken at a Magnification of 1000 SEM photos are shown in Fig The untreated hair(fig.1) shows highly defined cuticle scales. No gross surface changes are apparent for hair with small particle size(fig.2,3) The photo of SAFEELIA WGE-60SP deposition hair(fig.4) shows a heavy, "wrinkled coating of silicone, obscuring the cuticle definition.

13 FRICTIONAL COEFFICIENT MEASUREMENT Apparatus; KES-SE Friction Tester( KATO TECH CO., LTD.) Sample Preparation Prepared the samples & measured it by KES-SE to examine the silicone emulsion s frictional coefficient. Measured Samples #1 : Silicone Emulsion: Silicone Fluid 60,000cst( d(v,0.5)) = 0.87 #2 : Silicone Emulsion: Silicone Gum(1Million) & Fluid( d(v,0.5)) = SP : SAFEELIA WGE-60SP(d(v,0.5)) = #4 : Polyquaternium 10 #5 : Distearyl Dimethylammonium Chloride(DDAC) Method Above samples are diluted in D.I.Water to 0.3% of active ingredients,dipping in solution, rinsing, drying and then test.

15 DISCUSSION(SILICONE IN THE SHAMPOO) Conditioning effect in shampoo system contained SILICONE EMULSION is 1.Maximized in using the SILICONE GUM, especially SILICONE GUM that has heavy molecular weight, rather than Silicone Fluid, 2.Bettered in case of the SILICONE PARTICLE SIZE is larger as long as the stability is sustained (shelf time : 3years at least), 3.Designed to optimize the stability & effects on shampoo system by using SAFEELIA WGE-60SP.

16 DEPOSITION MECHSNISM 1)During Shampooing During the lathering phase the silicone droplets have remained in suspension in the crystal / polymer / mixture vesicle matrix. 2)During Rinsing During rinsing, the excess water dilutes the Glycol Distearate(EGDS) lattice or high MWs water soluble polymer(pq-10, Jaguar C -13-S) networks, causing the fluid structure to collapse, releasing the droplets of silicone, Cationic SAA like HC-30G vesicle to deposit on the hair.
