5 Talking with Tina Ovarian Cancer Walk of Hope 2015 Happy 10th anniversary, Tina! To celebrate her milestone at Dr. Lycka s office, Tina reflects on what she s learned along the way. A A What is it like working with Dr. Lycka? I know I ll have constant advanced education and experience working alongside Dr. Lycka. He trusts my skills and application in treatments, and I m easily able to come to him when I have questions. I love that we can get excited together about our radical advancements in scar correction and skin care. What have you learned? Oh, what haven t I learned? There isn t enough time or space to list everything Dr. Lycka has taught me over the years, but he has made sure I m one of the most advanced and experienced laser technicians in North America. A A What do you love the most? I bounce around as to what my favourite treatments are, but as fall approaches, I m always more passionate about repairing sun damage. Laser works great to treat sun damage and rejuvenate hot weathered skin. I also find that some patients who were not brave enough to bare their skin in the summer are interested in shedding a few inches before winter holidays, so Coolsculpting is an obvious choice. 7 2015 Miss Universe Canada Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is as much about diet as it is about fitness. Training for the Miss Universe Canada pageant reminded me how important it is to watch what I put in my body so I could stay in the best shape possible for the competition. To keep my diet in check I try to prepare my meals ahead of time, making sure to balance every meal with a protein, healthy fat and a good carb like yams, brown rice or oatmeal to boost my energy. My Purple Cabbage Salad recipe is healthy, delicious and super easy to prepare when I m planning my meals for the week. Summer vacation has come and gone, and since everyone is heading back to school, this is the perfect time to talk about the Canadian Skin Cancer Foundation s Go Safe Education program. Without education and awareness, we wouldn t know about Sun Safety or skin cancer prevention measures. To ensure people are properly educated, the CSCF offers Go Safe Education programs for grade 5 and 6, junior and senior high school curriculums in the form of elearning classes, presentations, and additional resources.
